I can't comprehend that this game got 6/10 scores everywhere and was treated like some kind of heresy when it comes to the original. The ReArmed one got solid 10/10's on the other hand. And while the ReArmed game is pretty cool - it was just a 2.5D side-scroller with a gimmick... while this one took the original concept and evolved/advanced it into "next-gen" awesomeness. One could say that it was "just a Gears of War clone with a gimmick" but this particular gimmick (the arm swing and other arm tricks) makes the gameplay really cool and it stands out compared to other GOW clones. It also looks really nice - not only for the time, but even now it's rather pleasing to the eye. It was a refreshing change from all the brownish-greyish games of that era, full of colorful stages and environments. I liked it from the release day and still like it - I just grabbed the X360 version for two bucks during the closing days of the digital store and I'm so glad I did it. Now I have it for all platforms it's available on and I will surely play it from time to time until the day I die!
This game is good. I wish they remastered it, or make a new one. Once you learn the grapple swing good,combat ,it's awesome. Highly recommend playing this.

This game gets a lot of flak, and much of it is deserved, but in spite of numerous flaws, taken as a whole this is a fantastic game with a well-acted(....um, Mike Patton, well...okay, he -acted-, I guess) and well told story(dead wife arm twist not withstanding), supremely fun gameplay, and dark, enthralling music that perfectly drew you in and created an atmosphere of isolation, drama and danger. This is not a perfect game, but it is polished and fun. I spent hours just exploring and playing with the physics. Voice actor aside, Spencer is a badass character. This series needs to come back on the now gen of consoles.
This was the first ever game i ever played, i still remmeber having a sleepover at my cousins house and playing this. Though i remember the game being a bit grainier and darker.

I found the ending to be a bit disappointing, although, headbutting Joe into unconsciousness was amusing. I don't get why he would commit suicide right after finding out that his wife has been the controlling AI in his arm this whole time.

@@glassessevensdiskfourchann4454 actually its quite different from spider-man even tho the game has the swinging mechanism because in spider-man you can swing like everywhere but bionic commando you can only swing on a certain places. The game itself is about precicion ispecially on the commando difficulty and you have to be quick. I also have a lots of tips about this game actually.
Cool game still got it challenging thing is them Biomech machines were tough but throwing rocks and cars at them gets the job done but the finishing move is pure chefs kiss

Overkill made Payday and Payday 2 as you probably know..... and The Walking Dead game which failed, almost got bankrupt and managed to start over and earn money back, saying they'd work on Payday 3

I played the original game on the NES when I was a kid, and this one blew me away, seing the transition from 8bit to full 3d it was just mindblowing to me! The only gripe I have is that for some reason the graphics for some of cut scenes are horrendous compared to the actual gameplay, other than that the game is awesome, I've played it all the way about 3 times. Gameplay graphics still hold up nice, great music, first game that gI played with gigantic enemies and huge worlds... What more could you ask for?
