"Lillehammer" is a ski resort town and municipality in Gudbrandsdalen in Innlandet, at the northern end of "Mjøsa" _ Norway's largest lake _ in southern Norway. In winter, Norway's most snow-sure areas offer miles of newly prepared tram tracks and some of Norway's largest and best ski resorts.
In both summer and autumn, the region offers great nature experiences with cycling, hiking, horse riding, and rafting opportunities. The nearby Norwegian Olympic Museum has exhibits chronicling Lillehammer’s 1994 Winter Olympics and features a biathlon simulator.
"Lillehammer" has been an important trading area since the 1300s. River "Mesna" runs like an artery through the town and has been an important factor for "Lillehammer" getting the city status in 1842.
The center of "Lillehammer" is known as a UNIK town with its charming shopping environment, culture, and nice atmosphere. The old wooden buildings make the walking street really special combined with modern and interesting shops. You will find a lot of specialized stores and a variety of shops offering clothes, shoes, sports, jewelry, watches, interiors, flowers, craft products, souvenirs, and grocery stores. In addition there are galleries, museums, and a lot of nice cafes and restaurants. Lillehammer is an area for a lot of local, national, and international activity - there is always something happening in the town center.
