- The FIA Main Event 2023 at Santa Pod Raceway provided some of the best Top Fuel Dragster racing we've seen in recent times, maybe ever! We saw the European speed record broken (twice) and the European 1000ft record reset by Ida Zetterström.
With all of the Round 1 winners setting a 3.8X ET we knew we were in for some great racing for the rest of the day! Enjoy the video capturing all the Top Fuel action over the weekend from the startline.

This literally had me in tears............ It's not just about seeing a fast car, it's the realisation that teams of highly skilled Engineers have worked together so dilligently to create a land missile, then watch it launch down the drag strip in what can only be described as a 3 second explosion........... I would LOVE to see this..... (You'll spot me easily enough, I'll be the one crying in the grandstand......See you there).

American here. I had no idea there's a dragster culture somewhere other than north America, especially top fuel dragsters. This is pretty cool. How long is the santa pod drag strip?
Full 1/4 mile but Top Fuel runs to 1000ft. The European FIA Drag Racing tour runs at UK, Sweden and Germany. Our current European champion Ida Zetterstrom has made the move to NHRA this year

Went on Saturday and the fuel cars were disappointing, the rest of the racing epic .
They sure sorted the tunes out on Monday tho 😊.
I watched Monica Oberg vs Liv Berstad run 330 over the 1/4. The fact the are doing this over 1000ft is very impressive.

Only 4 mins in but man, I've never seen top fuel, only some funny car (are they half the power?) Tht done a quick demo blast and omg I wasn't ready... so I can't even imagine the violence of them 🤣🤣🤣 thanks for all these videos 👊
Funny Cars are the same power I believe just shorter wheelbase obviously hence they don’t get down the track as well 😆

top fuel funny cars are similar power but they're rare in Europe, most funny cars are top methanol which is somewhere around half the power
Went santa pod maybe six years ago for the finals, me and my Dad where wandering around the pit area and out of nowhere we heard the first top fuel cars cross the finish line we were close to the finish line and not joking we both looked up thought it was a plane 😂 I ran down the pit area to see the time and speed I couldn't beleive it over 300 mph around 4 seconds 1/4 mile (well just under 1/4 mile due to the speed they hit 😂) it was unreal, later on we got chatting to a guy that actually ran a team of 2 cars he didn't own it but ran the team really nice guy couldn't beleive the money they spend on these cars it is ridiculous but like Keiran said the top fuel only come out a few times when the weather and track is perfect but its quick they are just there and the very first time at the start line they did the burnout which is loud but that first ever top fuel car actually launching from the start line is something you cannot explain without being there, best way to describe it is it is like a well placed explosive missile hitting the ground just far enough away from you that it doesn't kill you! You don't just hear it you feel it the air pressure is unbelievable like a bomb going off right in front of you its something that has to be witnessed to be beleived and still to this day it is addictive nothing beats the smell and feel of watching these things race you have to go just to experience it!
Looks like top fuel is back in Europe.

Funny how there were so many too tight clutches and messed up fuel tunes. And the final was just handed over by the beam break. But, gladly there was at least one team who had their act together. 3 secs uphill is a real achievement.
I just want to know how do they keep the steering wheel straight, going that fast ???

Top Fuel don’t always make it down due to limited track time and ever-changing track/weather conditions, they have such a fine margin of getting it right but when they do get it right it’s amazing to see!

That’s a poor attempt at trolling 😂 TFDs 60ft in 0.8-0.9 seconds, Model 3s are a second slower than that
