Jet cars are so loud when your actually there watching them race I went to Santa pod a long time ago thinking about going there again

its one awesome jet funny car ive seen it so meney times and it still takes my breath away
I was on the team 99-2001 this car 4 is far more tuned then the last 3 you can hear it in the peek its close to running spot on. 5 will also be a step futher when it appears... great fun working on the team loved it... will be back for a guest appearance later 2012... stay of the grass martin haha...
Great to see Martin Hill and his team in action, always put on a great show and drive. These videos should be force fed 24/7/52 to that Fatberg thing

I saw something like this at Santa Pod in the mid 90's i was working there doing a rave for bug jam and we got pulled into the vip booth. It was just like this with the turbine winding up and the afterburners firing up. The loudest thing i've ever experienced!

Been there, I was high as a kite passing fire force….in its dock the smell of weed was unbelievable
went to Santa pod usc and sitting on the stand you could feel the vibration when set of the flames

yeah it was a solid run, (eventually ha ha) pretty much par for course tho(for this class of exhibition car) the fire show dramatics are VERY breath taking in most jet-passes.. tho seen a few rotor and stator blades come undone.. nasty! my greatest memory was seeing Ken Warby in the 80's with his jet truck and two jet funny cars.. side by side flat fives at 260mph just stunning.. they were only separated by their reaction times!!

I was at stanta pod when this went down the track and it got delayed cos if rain but I went to my tent and we heard it go down the track and we missed it I was devastated :(
Fastest QuarterMile pass of all tiem was Kitty O'Neal in one of Ky Michaelson's rocket cars, before the peroxide fuel availability was severely restricted - 412 MPH in the quarter mile.

@lerroc Yeah your right I just found the error. I guess watching videos is different that being there, but when I go they don't seem as fast as this car and I always love the jet cars this one just seemed extremely fast.

I remember being on that embankment as a 14 year old boy dared not to wear my ear muffs and absolutely shit my pants when It went by 😂 the only thing I can compare the loudness too is a low flying fighter jet if you've ever had one fly over you. It shakes everything around you.

So what has it actually run? I've personally seen the Hanna's run in the low 5's at over 295mph in the 1/4mi and that was 3-4yrs ago. The Hanna's designed a multi-stage afterburner for their jet FC's. The Eastern Raider & the First Strike.

Why do people post drag races where the ONLY thing that maters is 1/4 time and maybe trap speed. And they show neither! And don't even say or post either! SMH..

Found it, They claim to be the fastest "Jet Car". Ok maybe.. Top Fuel cars are faster, and Chemical Rocket cars are the fastest down the track... So fastest, "Jet car" ok that might be true... but really.. Big Deal..
Sammy Miller. Santa Pod UK. 3.58 secs. 386mph. I was there. Also saw Darrell Gwynn wreck at Santa Pod. Both great guys and balls of steel.

The First Strike driven by Rich Hanna is listed as the World Record Holder at 5.42 sec & 295.08mph in the 1/4mi on their web site. So again, what has he run? I can tell by the burner pops it's got some guts so I really would like to know what his best time & mph is.

+Callum Pearce somebody with a jet car ran in the mid 3s at one point. Cant remember his name. 3.58 or something
That was Sammy Miller in 1984 at Santa Pod but in a Rocket powered car (a Chevy Vega bodied funny car called Vanishing Point) and not a Jet car.
Oh, it also did 386 mph or 621 km/h.
they keep deleting our posts, but we all know it didn't run those numbers, let him show his time slip of all the increments down the track friends and family all people there over in England seem to defend fire farce, but he has never yet posted a time slip or shown his increments down track, I'm sure he wants to relish in the glory of something he did not do! Why don't you stop letting friends defend you and prove what the car did or should I say did not do!
While it may be slower than a dragster, the fastest she's been is 336mph at 5.3. It takes longer to get a jet engine going but over the last 3rd she really shifts.
Record is still 3.54sec held by sammy back in 1984 fireforce is just a crowd show piece seems to get slower as the years go by think it was in the 5sec range last time i saw it at bug jam
Sammy millers vanishing point was way better than the jet cars. Still great for the kids to watch though.👍🇬🇧 Hope to see you again in September 21.

I won't of believed it but after being at Santa pod last weekend and smelling the fuel cap it's true. Don't know if it has a secondary tank additive though

That is just insane. The driver just goes along for the ride.. I don't even know how you have time to pull the parachute.. I've never seen a car go down a track that fast before, even top fuel. I wonder what this thing would run on the flats.. probably over 400mph easily.

The fastest jet dragster speed in the world is held by driver Chuck Haynes driving his volcano jet dragster to 322 mph in the quarter. Chuck set these records at various tracks one at the top of the list is the Perth Motorplex Perth Australia.
Volcano is a rail, FireForce is a funny car, as stated in the listing, also, in the UK, Fireforce runs over 1/4mile, is that the case in AUS?...

I never fully understood why the afterburner is repeatedly activated/deactivated prior to takeoff...or is that something else that causes all the white smoke and bright orange flames?
first to heat up then to stage, since it's the only way to move.
the white smoke is diesel, as a crowd pleaser, lighting the afterburner on low rpm is literally crowd pleasing and attracting more crowd, as it is so loud, once it hits full rpm thats all serious, but if it just rolled up and went it would not be so interesting, as it only lasts 6 seconds down the strip
