As someone who is on a strict budget, this video is encouraging. I’ve been blessed with a few good tools and have already spent more that I originally anticipated. That said, while I still have a variety of larger tools on my wish list, what I lack the most right now is time. With a full-time job, wife, and small children, there isn’t much time left for hobbies, much less starting a small business.

I would love to see the cost analysis on profit vs tools with this type of build. I'm all for encouraging people to build, but I encourage them to build for themselves and not for profit. Profit is secondary to enjoyment of woodworking without the tools. Great video.

Great video!! I love woodworking! When I started out woodworking a number of years ago I really had no experience with tools, and so when I would watch videos where people had a lot of power tools I really had no knowledge to go on. So videos like these would broaden my understanding and help me in my desire to do some kind of woodworking. And so for me it wasn't just that I didn't like to watch a video for from folks that had a bunch of tools that helped them to get the job done, I really had no idea how to get it done any other way lol! Thankfully I am blessed with lots of tools these days and I've been able to get a lot of them at yard sales and auctions and flea markets Etc God can and will make a way in His good time!

Ignore the rude comments and keep up the awesome videos. I like your video style and knowledge! You’ve done a lot of the analysis and cost points and people get to make their own decisions and be creative from there. Obviously if you want to make money and save time, it requires an investment in tools! Kudos to you for taking on the challenge of using really basic tools! It was interesting!

So true if you are 62 or 75 like myself we think different. In our day and age if we never worked we had to go without.. We had to hustle to survive . It has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Today making simple furniture to save money or to sell to me is more like a hobby. I only have basic tools electric drill and saw. Couple of clamps and make it work. You can do the same.

These same ones crying about how RUclipsrs have thousands of dollars in tools are the same ones who would complain if you gave them a wheelbarrow full of money. They're always going to complain no matter what. That would be like me complaining to some mechanic channel for not rebuilding an engine using only a pair of channel locks

Thank you for everything... About 2 yrs ago I started laser engraving and have made pretty good money on it, but i started leaning towards learning wood working and wow this gives me inspiration!!!

I’m all for the new faster stronger easier methods CNC machines, planers, jointers and etc. but there’s nothing
Ike some good elbow grease and sweat to make you alive with more confidence accomplished ! And I’m old school to the core and have always loved to create with my hands and minimal tools. And I also loved your comment about your age and that there’s no excuses for the new way woodworker/carpenter enthusiast to weasel their way out of making new things with minimal tools !

If you could saw the live edge without destroying the offcut, it could be glued onto the other side, or onto another board so the edges are more random Maybe adding a strip of contrasting wood between the two. This project could easily be tweaked to create a bunch of different products.
I love that you are encouraging people to not wait until everything is perfect before starting. I get that way sometimes, sprnding a good deal of time working out the absolute best method, when I could be diving in and making progress.

😅😅😅 for the drilling mistake. I bet none of us have ever done anything like that! Ha ha ha. As for how you could have fixed it? Could have inserted some dowling, cut-off, then sanded.
Just for newbies, get a saw that doesn’t have as aggressive teeth on it as he has. I would recommend a Stanley Toolbox Hand Saw. My dad gave me mine & I love it. Can be very useful. As you are beginners, I would recommend getting a jig saw as well. Very inexpensive ($20 - $35 mostly), very portable, very easy to use, can bevel easy. I got my 1st one at a yard sale when I was 15 & only paid $5 for that simple Black and Decker saw. Ive used that one tons. Very handy. 😊😊😊
    Like this simple build.

Attention all woodworkers. Beginners and advanced Craftsman. There is sad news coming out of Sheffield, United Kingdom.
    BBC report:
A workshop group set up to help men talk about their mental health is facing closure as its landlord battles against rising overheads.
Steelers Heelers, based in the Steel Inn on Sheffield's Manor estate, provides a space for people to talk and take on woodworking projects.....
I know times are very hard for everyone. And I totally understand the saying "every penny counts" . But I was wondering if we could all chip in and set up funding for these gentlemen. As someone who picked up woodworking in his late 30s, there is something about woodworking that calms the mind and nerves. Knowing how supportive this community is, I think it's only right and our duty to help these lads out. Please spread the word !!!

Well, I have a hand saw and a drill, but I don't have those fancy clamps you used, so I guess I won't be making one of these trays.... thanks for wasting my time.

What is a good asking price for a tray like this?

My suggestion is look on Etsy and other online shops to get an idea. To me, these are more suited to sell online as there is a wide customer base. Local sales success would depend on how populated it is. Just my opinions.
