So true, so my lock froze on my Volvo since I need a new key fob. And this sweet old man was like “You okay son?” And told me to pull my door handle and try turning the key. Still wouldn’t work and I had to crawl through my trunk 😂he was sweet for asking tho
The Starbucks run with that spec is the perfect livability test … now all you need is a mid-day yoga session before picking up the kids from private school. LOL But seriously, I love the Defender and wouldn’t mind one if not for the infamous reliability issues, otherwise I dig JLR products, namely their aesthetics.
I've had 3 LR products. The last one was an Evoque. I LOVED driving it and being in it, but it was SO unreliable. I just gave back my 2021 3 year leased Wrangler Rubicon 4xe end of lease. I adored it, never ever had a single problem not even a rattle. Nothing. 8 Wranglers and they were all great. Even my old 90 Wrangler, although lots of little things, never let me down. Yet all 3 Land Rovers stranded me at least 2 times each. The Evoque wouldn't shut off once at my Dermatologist appointment. You know how hard it is to get into a Dermatologist these days!!!. Couldn't just leave the vehicle running because it was in a crappy area. So, I had to drive to the dealership on a Friday afternoon before the service guys closed and get a loner. Per usual it was a "software" update". All that said, I really really want to buy a Defender. I'm just worried about that damn reliability. Everyone I've stopped and spoken to that has one loves it, but man that TFL review. Awful. Either I wait for the new Land Cruiser or just get the Defender. So unsure what to do at this point.
I also owned 3 LR products, the last one I sold within less than 18 months from purchase, still under warranty. I was fed up, not so much of their unreliability, but rather because of the incompetence of the “mechanics” and the arrogance of the office staff. In my country they charge €120/hour, OK you get to wait and sit in a leather lounge chair and the Nespresso is free, but still. I still own an F type, which would actually be my 4th LRJ product. It has an issue with the fob key, and I am adamant of bringing it in, cause I know they won’t find the issue. I also take it to a general garage for services instead of the official dealership, costs me 1/3 of the price.
You picked the worst time to come out to SoCal (with the rain), but hope you're enjoying yourself nonetheless. Also they charge for whip now on hot chocolates? When I worked there, whip was a part of the full drink.
Although I would probably never buy one of these, I do like the design of them, I cracked up laughing when you said it was colder when it you were only like an extra foot in the air lol, great video.
@@faheemabbas3965 the wealthy do not care about reliability. They’ll dump it in a couple of years before it starts having issue. Land rover will always have a market
You complained about the front camera being fish eye, if you click on the front of the truck shown on the overhead render it switches to the non fish eye front camera, just click the front lights of the image render.
Good to see a real world test for what this car is going to be used for... Should have tried out the LA Fitness and Sephora parking lot just for good measure 😝
Thank you for the review. Wanted to add a few comments for those interested in purchasing a 663 Defender. I have a ‘24 110 Dynamic X SE (the mid level below Dynamic X which I suppose is the HSE), similar to this vehicle although not the LR 130 equivalent of the Chevy Suburban. First, all of the “Outbound” or whatever factory installed exterior options are worthless and junky in my opinion (hence the plastic tampon box and kiddie ladder on the side of the vehicle that serve no purpose and have cheap hardware). Also, you lose all of the light the rear windows provide, for a tampon box? Plus, the tampon box blocks your passenger rear-view mirror visibility. Useless expensive options. Second, when purchasing, carefully review the dealer “al a carte” options. Some are very worthwhile. LR intentionally makes this difficult to navigate to increase profitability on the vehicles. A good sales advisor will work with you on this. Some options will be very desirable for resale. Options that should be mandatory for inclusion, in my opinion, are air suspension, 20” rims - not mall crawler 22” where there are few rim/tire replacement options and are not useful off road; the P400 engine, not the P300, the upgraded Meridian system (it is only a $450 option but the Meridian system still is not that good), ventilated seats (this package also gives you some LED cabin adjustability with different colors, which is neat), Dynamic trim (trying to retrofit black panels on this vehicle will cost 3x plus a lot of work instead of having it factory installed), and tow hitch if you use one. This is one of the best built cars I have owned. Maybe some get lemons, but mine is great. This is my third LR over the years and it is a different vehicle than the prior Defender but that car has a limited market as great as it it. In my opinion, this is a very well built and designed SUV and the parts used are, for the most part, high quality. You nailed it in your review - the Z transmission is an excellent transmission and is used by BMW, Rolls Royce and several other high end vehicle manufacturers. I traded in a ‘22 Ford Bronco Badlands for the Defender. Although I had high expectations for the Bronco, it was complete junk, poorly made and the Chinese made/Ford designed transmission failed within a year, which Ford still has no solution for. All of the modern off-road options in my Badlands/Sasquatch are even better in the Land Rover except the LR is not as customizable, but I do not live in the middle of Moab and am not off-roading everyday. Also the LR Pivi Pro tech is very smooth and weak done, again in my opinion. I do not do Starbucks/oat milk/Sephora runs, but when I want to haul lumber, large equipment, furniture, my two large dogs, etc., the Defender is awesome and suits the bill with the lay-flat seats that my Disco 3 has (BTW, I still own that car with 130k miles and it is going strong with no major issues other than air suspension being replaced). I do not believe the Defender 90 has lay flat seats, which inhibits cargo space. The Bronco does not have lay flat seats either and should be standard in SUVs in this price range. If you are into V8s for a Defender and that $25k more price increase, go for it, it I believe it is unnecessary in this vehicle. The P400 engine is pretty peppy and suits this 5,500 box. It all comes down to what you need the car for and everyone has different needs. Do not knock a car you do not have experience with. Thought I would share. Hope it helps.
Good luck with that car. My RR spent 3! months at the dealership for 2 failed (but charged) repairs, involvement of LR's so called 'technical assistance', horrible customer service throughout and now the car is going back again because they believe that they finally found the issue. Never again.
Hello TopherDrive, As a request Could you please do a 2007 subaru forster xt 2.5 automatic stock please. I would really love for you do this car as a nicely request. Please and thank you!
Ohh bro, just make a video driving this defender with music playing in the background no talking just driving around and music and it will receive a million views or 10million even. That was brilliant, gave you alike
I'm thinking about getting this 130 like yours, and I wanna do some modification of the 2rd row seat, I wanna make 'em lay all the way flat, so sleeping will be even more comfy when camp outside. I prefer 130 than 110 for more leg rooms...
I never liked the 130. Always thought it looked strange with how kind of disproportionate it was. The outlander package however, with the window delete and accessories on the side really helps hide that and makes it look much better now imo. Might actually consider it.
4:244:34 that a good idea you should put your ladder back before when drive because you don’t want to hit other people car and pay for other people car pavement that will be bad and funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My brothers over 6 / 250 lbs like my daddy that shits snappin, giving heavy amount of lawsuits. 🤣😂😂 they shoulda labeled it dog 🐶 ladder if that.🙄🙄🙄😭😢😅

Love these types of videos. Most buyers of the defender ironically are going to use this just for coffee runs! Lol
I don't think there are many out there who use a vehicle "just for coffee runs".
That's pretty much what I do in mine and it does a great job of it.
@@m.687if you want a real 4x4 workhorse, the Defender would probably be your last choice, unless you’ve got money to waste (which is fine by me)
I use mine purely for avocado toast and soy lattes

I’m pretty certain the biggest market for these is Los Angeles, and no, they are NEVER going on a dirt road much less off-road.
2:20 revealing that ladder got me excited for some reason. seems like a cool feature to have
Such a real world demo. I loved it dude!
22:32 2015 outro nostalgia, love it!🥹
same🥺
i love that LR makes the cargo and rear seats super flat so people can easily sit up straight and camp in their cars. No one else really does that.
Still amazes me that we are in an era that people are perfectly content on spending $6 on a drink that isn't alcoholic.
Would rather spend $6 on something that makes me productive than something that gives me liver damage
People have been buying $6 Starbucks drinks for a decade
how long do you think constitutes an era@@bradybisgard
when $6 is equivalent to $3.30 in 2000 it makes a lot of sense
Spending $6 on a alcohol is outrageous stupid sir
Need to see a review on the 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail once that's out!

Perfect car to camp out in front of Starbucks waiting for it to open after a late night of clubbing.
Hot chocolate is the drink of culture and with it being Starbucks, the cups makes the Land Rover looks extra good 😌

Going to miss the therapeutic snow drives! Completely understandable though.. winters in Michigan suck.
There will be more! haha. Just in Cali for a week
I’d be very worried about the hard ice scratching the paintwork. I’d not try forcing it off.
