I won't lie, I cried a little. Against the odds, battling adversity to come out has a winner always makes me emotional for these athletes that realise their dreams. This is weightlifting at its best.
This is the feeling the emotion that weightlifting gives to the masses I just wish they would’ve included the part where Kuo celebrates as Alvarez makes her 3rd lift I love the competition the sport don’t take this away from us Olympic committee
It's always interesting to see how the Asian athletes have noticeably different limb proportions. Their legs are so short in comparison to their torsos.
Super short femurs makes getting around their knee into a bottom position very comfortable. Not sure where this came from might have been the low growing crops in their region that they had to farm and thus those with short femurs were ideal/ more successful.
Not sure what adversity Alverez was overcoming as in so many comments? Kuo was injured and gave it a valiant try. Not taking anything away from Alverez but let’s be fair.
Totally agree! These supposed "genius pundits" have NO understanding of actual competitive weightlifting, nor made any true mention of the fact that Kuo was clearly NOT 100% and has a history of knee issues going back decades (she even made trips to the USA before Anaheim Worlds), so even an "average" total for Kuo (103-105 / 135-138) would have easily won GOLD here! Credit to Alvarez for her excellent performance but let us put things in perspective : Kuo has been doing this for DECADES and is now 30 years old (with all the accompanying strain on her body) while this young lady is literally lifting at "home" in front of a friendly crowd which gives her energy, etc...let's see how she (or anybody) does over decades of comps, traveling to foreign countries etc...and THEN we can discuss!
@@harleymbaldwin Do you really think the guy who has been producing weightlifting content in the highest level for years, and a guy who coached someone to the world stage, have no knowledge of competitive weightlifting?

This is the crowd weightlifting needs!
I swear, I've never seen a weight-lifting crowd so animated.
Latinamerica ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Our beauty and powerful queen Yenny Alvarez, after this medal she won the Colombian Athlete of the Year Award
Well deserved!
Alvarez's face when she realizes she made that last C&J!!! Just LOVED this battle!!
Phenomenal athletes in an epic battle!

i was thinking the same but in the opposite way. Maybe I'm used to seeing longer torsos so it's more noticeable to me when I see a small torso.
The best weightlifting body parts ratio.😁
Omg I got goosebumps. I love this sport so much.
She so deserves it.
Both women were amazing!
That was awesome!
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
What a fantastic lift to win the Gold!
It's all about hard work and dedication Well done to all the ladies.
Tears of joy anything is possible with full heart ❤️ and belief 🙏🙏🙏 so inspirational 💖 congratulations 🎊 🙏 👏
This was a fire battle
These two are amazing. How wonderful for her, she so deserves it. God bless them both.
weight lifting is about to take off 🚀
This is not my sport. This is not my hobby or something that I watch. I stayed until the end. I cried. Nothing prepared me for the end.
Y am I crying for this lady
This is why we must celebrate and protect all female sports
Kuo's technique just hits different. So insanely pretty.
Good Job Girl! Jamaica should start competing in this, we have a lot of fast twitch muscled people.
100%
Columbia is exploiting genetics that aren't really theirs 😂
Incredible.
why was this so emotional for me
Same here don’t know why that wave of emotion came over me.
I know they are excited, but the amount of screaming right before making it to the rack position seems like it would be detrimental.
Nah the opposite
Awesome 👍
Well done
1:20 flawless
Amazing
Wonderful

Teary-eyed 😢
What happened with Kuo's second lift?
She most likely was in too much discomfort.
She was injured
@@cnwil4594 no I meant why did they score it a no lift if she got it overhead?
@@user-tz9jh6pv2j And, to be able to lift that previous weight while injured was impressive. These lifting techniques are interesting....

I should send this to my 220 lbs jacked buddy who can't military pres more than 145 lbs😂

wow nice mate
Jeez, to be honest, I doubted Alvarez, but she made me eat crow - LoL👏
Esa negra de colombia se fue a talkear. Cómo es que de un momento a otro surgió con más fuerza,
❤️
❤❤❤
Dang man. Columbia be bring it! Moving to Columbia now! Good cocaine and even better PRDs lol
Strong 💪💪 Right on.
Kuo was injured. 10kg off her 100%. Silver medal performance wins gold. Sucks for Kuo, but she is the stronger lifter
Meh her time is over
Wow
красота !
Dam...... I was going for the China woman
Can you imagine if the Trans get in there, no more women competitions.
8:29 think if she was going up head to head with man think he a female 😢😈🙈🙊🙉
This all real females right ? It not right for a man to be in the too not the same.
Is Alvarez Whoopi Goldberg's daughter?
No but there’s a possibility you’re a loser though
How long before trans-athletes take over this sport, I wonder?
So rare to see black peoples perform at this level unfortunally none of them are olympian.
You must be brain dead to say black people aren't Olympian...we have more people in sports than any other humans on earth...
you talking about, we run this!
