They were fantastic (although in the last two shows I went to, it was clear that Séan was out of sorts). My dad and I go to Alan's shows every time he comes to Cleveland. He's gregarious like a Labrador puppy, and stays at the venue until every last fan has been greeted and every autograph signed.
I saw them at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, Me. and they played this song. The crowd was talking and cheering non-stop when Sean started singing and you could hear a pin drop when they finished the last chorus. I saw a waitress actually wipe her eyes. Pretty powerful.
Oh, Sean! Every time you sing this in concert you make me cry as I listen. Now sitting in front of my computer monitors, everyone is wondering why there is tears running down my face. And why I suddenly burst out laughing. Bravo!
A.K.A. song about how the ocean is a (CENSORED). I guess the ocean goes by fae philosophy. “You want your lover sleeping safe upon the shore? …oh sorry you wanted him ALIVE? Well why didn’t you say so?”
Great Big Sea remains the best collection of A'capella voices the world has ever produced. Simply amazing.
The tone they can produce together is so warm. They must have this down to a science, because it's heart-stopping to hear your harmonies live.
Aww so awesome. All of you stay proud and thankful.
This song is so heartbreaking and beautiful.
Completely bummed that we discovered this band only after they split up.... would LOVED to have seen them live.
Sean tours by himself now. Saw him live last month. Oh man- do yourself a favour and go see him... Amazing...
Same here.
