I'm a newcomer here, even though this has been here awhile. I saw another almost identical (but much smaller) pattern that really was too small. It wouldn't cover much shoulder. I thought this one was too big, so I drafted a pattern between the two sizes. Then after "auditioning" them on my shoulder a few times, I decided that this larger one was really the right size, for best coverage. It's all about coverage. My "S" curve turned out perfect on the first try! Great instructions. My hint is that I often use manila file folders for my patterns. I use the fold line of the folder as the fold line of the pattern. If I want to cut it full size, just open it up. If I want to cut on the fold, just fold the pattern in half. It is heavy enough for moderate use. This pattern fit well on a letter size folder, except that I did have to tape a leftover piece to fill in the indentation on one side of the folder.
Dude, I've watched at least 10 or more video's of how to make burp cloths and yours won by far! No unnecessary instructions on how to do stuff a sewer already knows! Plus I love this pattern! Thank you. I'm going to start sewing now.😁
Just found your channel today. I've been watching for hours. You are a GREAT instructor and have a great sense of humor. My sister is coming for a one-week visit for us to have a sewing marathon. So many of the projects we wanted to make, you have instructions for. Thanks a ton for making these videos!
Thank you for you tutorial. I love that we don't have to watch you sew around the complete project. I also love that your not ashamed to use a 1/4 inch presser foot guide.. I'm heading to my recycle ben for some used cardboard and get started Just keep sewing.
Awesome tutorial, Scrappy Patch!! You rock. Will get fabric in a few days and makes these lovely looking, easy burp cloths. Thank you so much for sharing! Danielle
This is so timely! I have a baby shower next week and wanted to make a few little things to go with the baby quilt I made. I love your channel! Thanks for the pattern!
Great Video! I've been looking for an easy way to make my own template. Thank you for the clear instructions! Could I suggest using a pinking blade made for your rotary cutter? That way when your pinking blade gets dull you can quickly change to a sharp blade. (Unlike the always dull pinking shears).
I like the pattern, i just put mine on the fold and it worked perfectly. I also used PUL which is waterproof, great for mom or dad's clothes, they stay dry. I also line my bibs with it, PUL terry loop.
Just found your page, so far enjoying your lessons. Save those Terry cloth leftovers and make one layer little wash cloths ( or maybe you already did !), I'm new
I just made a dozen of these following your instructions...and they are awesome! I'm giving these to my expecting niece. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions, my dear friend.
Shirley Campion. Thank you I love to make my own templates and it is so useful when someone gives the measurements I haven't made one of these in48 years so a bit out of practice. I just needed a quick reminder. Great!
Please tell me where you got your peas in a pod fabric!!!! Beautiful work BTW. My daughters (April) flowers is sweet peas. I must have this fabric. Please & thank you
Love this one I made it the same way as you made your bib stitching made me only have to cut it out once. Love your channel Thank you for showing us how to make the pattern too!
New sub! Was looking for useful baby items to make as gifts for an expecting friend. REALLY great choices here! Going on a sewing jag this weekend using your concise tutorials.Canning vids are great, too! PLEASE POST MORE CONTENT! And THANK YOU!
You've got a new subscriber here... Your instruction and demonstration was simple and easy to understand and follow. We've got lots of great nieces and nephews coming into our family very soon.. so I better get busy!! :)
I will do a video about me in the future. I taught myself how to sew about 6 years ago. All my grandmothers sewed but unfortunately they all passed away when i was young. I guess it's in my blood! Thanks for watching!! P.s. I love your name :-)
Are you able to show the finished seam where you had to leave opened to turn, would live to see and up close of that part. I am currently doing a burp cloth and wanting to finish that open part, for turning as flawless as possible. It does look different or at least for me, please correct me if I'm doing something incorrect, as all the other seams around the open part are enclosed. Is the how it should be? The part when doing the top stitch over the opening after turning the material in and under creates a slight ...well it's hard to describe but I am hoping you understand what I am asking. I just want the finished edge to look nice and not to noticeable. Thank you for you time in responding-:)
Yes it's supposed to look like that. If you don't like the look of it, you can always hand sew the opening closed with a ladder stitch and you won't be able to see the opening. Thanks for watching and I hope that answered your question.
Ok, didnt u say ur pattern is 11x81/2 and the fabric is 11x18? Im doing a practice cloth and mine dosent look like yours. It seems like my fabeic is not large enough. What am i doing wrong? 10 minutes later....... I got it now. I had it turned the wrong way. Lol

Great idea the way it goes over the shoulder with the opening around neck area. That’s genius Scrappy! Thanks for sharing your pattern with us.*

I think that this pattern could be placed on the fold before cutting to keep both sides the same
Yes but then u would be cutting threw four layers of fabric.
Very cute project :) Loving that yellow and the elephant print! Never can be too many burp cloths.
That's so true! Thanks for watching
Those are nice! Love the cute material you used on them. Very thoughtful of you. Peace and Good Fortune to you and your family.

Good tutorial ❤
Adorable material and thank you for this video! I like the idea of making my own template from your directions instead of trying to find one online ;)
I love your name! Thanksfor watching
@@ScrappyPatch I LOVE dragons, and Gunn is an old family name ;)
Great video!
Scrappy did you wash the flannel and the towelling
What size needle did you use for Terry Cloth & flannel fabric? Did you select medium weight woven or which button on sewing machine.
Love this!!! Where did you get the large grid mat on your table? I can't seem to find one larger than 22" long
I got mine at Walmart. It was the largest size they had and I believe it was around $30. I know you can get huge ones online but they are pricey!
@@ScrappyPatch Wonderful, thanks!!!

When one used a burp cloth... is the Terry cloth up or down on shoulder?
Thanks
It' doesn't really matter. I put the terry cloth down only because I want to see the print!
@@ScrappyPatch thanks for replying.
Beautiful burp cloths. Maybe you could make some matching bibs?
I actually did. IHere's the pattern I used ruclips.net/video/aNfDUfknpvs/видео.html

I have a very soft baby burp cloths
