Too expensive for what it offers. Don't need to spend so much when a Rockwell 6S will do just great and offer you the flexibility to get just the right blade exposure based on the plate, your skin type, your technique.
@@pantac4493 From what I can understand most adjustable razors just lower or increase the blade gap (by lower or increasing the height of the safety bar) thereby exposing or lessening the amount of skin coming in contact with the blade.
I'm a few weeks into DE razor exploration. After 11 years of rocking a full beard, I decided to start clean for 2025. Started with a Van Der Hagen and chewed my face off. Got the King C Gillette and really enjoyed it. Latest razor is the Merkur 34c which is decent. I have a Henson AL13 on the way. I'm using all the razors with the factory provided blades before experimenting with the blade sampler I have on standby. Proraso sensitive products have been solid as well as the A&E soap and splash. Needless to say, when I get into a new hobby I go from 0-100 real quick. Razor Emporium badger and stand, the full 9 yards. I enjoy your content here a long with all the other fellas. It's been a fun start to my leap into the world of safety razor shaving. Best regards and hope your having a good new year. 👋🏼
My favorite razor is not a slant but it is titanium. The razor is the Timeless Ti95 open comb. Yet my second most razor is a slant and is the Rex Konsul. I love the feel of the titanium razor. For me it is the perfect weight and perfect feel for a razor.
Saludos desde España. Megustan mucho tus vídeos, me parecen muy didácticos. Gracias a tus consejos he mejorado mi técnica. Espero seguir aprendiendo y dar con mi afeitado perfecto.
As always Dave, this was another awesome video! I didn't realize the above the tie, was the same maker of the Blackland Osprey razor which I've been dying to buy. Honestly I've have yet tried a slant razor yet, I have tried open comb razors I love the timeless and the Parker adjustable open comb variant. But I do a problem with buying an above the tie slant razor at that price point, I'm considering trying out the timeless aluminium slant razor to see how I like a slant razor. Once again awesome video Dave!
@@OhioShaves Thank Dave, I love the timeless line of razors, after buying the the Brass and tuxedo, and now the T95 Open comb, I have confidence in timeless products. But you also inspire confidence like I say you haven't steered me wrong yet! Will you be doing a review of the Blackland Osprey?
@@PSCThrillSeeker hopefully they will send one. I asked for one of their razors and they end up giving me this razor and I can understand why they just bought this company and they're trying to push this product out. Would be nice to review one of their Razors and really drive home quality and made in the USA.
Thanks for the great video David. For price wise I still choose Timeless slant. In matter of efficient If it compare with solid bar still choose Timeless slant Aluminum. If it compare to open comb I dunno yet. Open comb has more blade feel. I already got Rex sentry with more blade feel too. Thanks for the comprehensive information on this S1 Titanium Razor David👍🏻
Blackland is about a ten minute drive from me here in San Diego. It would be nice to tour the factory but they aren't open to the public. I'd like to pick up their blackbird at some point just because they're local, but I think that may be years down the road. Great review and shave!
I was reading an old article about shaving from the 1940’s I think it was a Gillette add and they recommended that you turn the razor so it’s coming down your face at an angle rather than holding it flat so really it seems that way any razor can act like a slant and “slice” the hair….BTW😊 I love your decision to use both the closed and open comb as a comparison!! 🎉🎉🎉
Gillette popularized this technique and many DE shavers use it even now. I don't recall what it is referred to exactly on the forums, the Gilette Glide or Slide... AFAIK, there were no vintage slant razors made in the USA or the UK. Slant's appear to have been a German thing back in the day.
Very nice video and review, David, thank you! I'm not in the market for another razor at the moment, and certainly not for one that's this pricey (my Rockwell 6C and Timeless Bronze are about all I need anymore). I do need to revisit the slant concept, though. My first DE razor was the Parker 55SL, but it's been put away for quite a while. My technique has changed a lot since I last used it, so perhaps my opinion of it would change at this point. SYDTR...
The Rex Konsul is my reference for all things slant! It’s a smooth operator for sure…the heft, balance, efficiency, etc. is the gold standard and the one I compare all others to. BBS all day long! Thanks, now go make some birdies.
Great video, ive been on fence with this one. Love the look of it, would be my first slant. My normal goto are karve bison and proof razor. Just cant decide if get wether go ti or just do ss lol. Tottall agree with you on Ariana and Evans best on market right now i think, if join the club can get some great ones not offered to general public and great deals if not already part of it.
I really appreciate your kind words! It’s awesome to hear you’re considering the slant razor. Ariana and Evans definitely have some fantastic products, and joining the club can unlock some real gems!
Great video Dave! I'm not sold on the slant it just doesn't make sense to me but I'm really enjoying the timeless ss open comb.. hope you have a great week and you haven't mentioned it but I hope that foot is all healed up..
@@BryanD_XRP I feel the same way. I don't think there's anything wrong with titanium, I just feel like stainless razors offer the best combo of weight and balance. That and I don't feel like my razor needs to be built from the same materials as an Abrams tank.

Thanks. The only slant I really like is the Timeless and the price point is spot on. It’s going to be a good game. I’m just wondering how many points we have to give them
Same value (timeless slant aluminium/ karve/ Rockwell) but not for the same money.. long story short we need high end value for money razors.. anybody listening?

Great choice!
Someone else said the gap changes but not exposure with 6c/6s. Does exposure and gap change with different plates?
@pantac4493 Just the gap. This is why it’s so smooth on plate six
