Actually there is a distinct difference between paillettes and sequins. Sequins have a hole in the center and are meant to be sewn on flat. Paillettes have the hole near the edge and are meant to dangle and move. take a close look at the samples that Nick is Showing and you can see the difference. P.S. I am loving these videos. I am slowly working my way through all 50+ of them.
Erin Helfrich you cut the sequins off by using a small scissor on the seams so basically you just remove the ones your not gonna need to see the pieces together they won't fall off on the area you didn't cut
My dear Nick, we have never met but I feel as if I know you for ever. Your videos are a good inspiration for my hobby, I love to sew. Thank you for sharing your expertise and true knowledge with us. By the way, I have your book, your story is fascinating and the book too. Love from the old Europe.
In Sequins 101 ,you should have addressed that they are called Sequins NOT SEQUENCE. I get so tired of correcting people about it. The same folk who use CONVERSATE instead of CONVERSE.SMH
What sequin or pailette brands do you suggest? I'm embroidering right now and the ones I bought show silver when they get even the lighter scrape. I don't want another color showing through! Please advise!
Oh my goodness it's so good to see your face and to hear your voice! I was a huge fan of project runway and I screamed when you won the barbie challenge. Of course you'd pop up when I'm looking up sewing sequins lol. Love you!
I didn't find your book on Amazon which you mentioned in this vedio... Can you plz share me that link in particuler ? 🤗 Thanks a ton for this vedio as I came to know difference between paillettes and sequine material or fabric with clear picture.. 🥰
Hi nick! Please please please tell us how to work with sequins fabric with your tips and tricks and deep details about sewing this fabric. I'm waiting for your next video on this topic.
Remove them from the seam allowance before constructing the garment. Use glue and/or stitches to hold them in place where you have cut the threads. When you're finished the seams fill in open spaces by hand. It sounds like a lot of work but nothing compared to adding all of the embellishments by hand
Thanks for the explanation! You are always very clear and enthusiast! As a French person I would have been confused too because Paillette almost always means "glitters" in French. I would have not understand the textile subtlety.
