I just ordered my first MPC. I intend to record a bunch of loops and organize it in Ableton. I don’t think it’s a major problem. It’s probably a lot easier too handle the job on the computer anyway.
Oh No! Not the looper... I use it all the time for recording electric guitar and bass. Hope Akai covers this one quickly. Bolo - regarding the MSB/LSB stuff.... they're gonna have to put a miniscule delay in there between pressing play and playback happening (unless you insert a blank bar or some time) since the MSB and LSB are otherwise going to be transmitted on the first beat.... leading to glitches in the sound as the programmes are changed. So, def. whats happening is a lag whilst that info is transmitted to the voices and then the beat starts playing. It sounds janky. Back in the old days we always used to put a blank bar at the start so that data could be transmitted and recieved without causing a glitch. Obviously that's not really possible on a live performance machine like the MPC. But perhaps Akai know a magic way? :) Personally, I never use programme changes at the start of the track 'cos of this - i.e. I start the sequence with all the correct sounds selected. So, it's a MDI bottleneck that's happening.
🔥How does importing midi files work now? It use to import to a entirely new sequence which was AWFUL. It just did not make sense at all. I would think now it should be imported to a new plugin track so you can then choose a plugin to drive it? Maybe it makes too much sense.
🔥🔥🔥 The browser needs Cut, Copy, Paste, Move, Delete, and Rename commands because I have files/ songs that I would like to cut and paste to a different folder for better organization and housekeeping, also to move mp3 files to the thumb drive without connecting to the computer.
Akai is slowly rolling out the public beta to influencers, not regular users. They are working a list. If they know you, you’re on a list. The problem with making the MPC more like a DAW is this: the more DAW-like it becomes, the more DAW-like features people are going to want it to have. At that point, why not just use a DAW.
Cause it’s all one unit. The daw also needs a computer, a mouse, keyboard, keys, pads, and a whole bunch of cables. You can basically have all of that in one box now. I don’t get why people get so butthurt about a product getting MORE features. If it’s really that much of an issue for you. Find the oldest mpc firmware you can find. Install that. And don’t update after that. Problem solved
MPC is and has always been a DAW, which simply means *digital audio workstation* and has always been software and hardware. What you describe as making the standalone "more DAW like" is really just adding to the capabilities of the software inside of the hardware and adjusting the hardware accordingly.
Yo Bolo did Studio one fix the problem with opening Mpc in Studio one as a plugin? every since they were bought by Fender & i upgraded to S1 v6 my Mpc stopped working in Studio one it will scan the vst but when i drag it over it wont open, i emailed them about it they told me it was a developer issue, i need to know before i reactivate my S1 subscription
When you say song mode isn’t any different, but then say that mutes don’t work the same, well it means that song mode has changed. 🤷🏾 Going in and erasing adds extra steps and time. And if you’re gonna erase notes out of song mode sequences, you may as well just do that same thing in arranger mode. That said, the other new changes look dope.
I mean, the force is still a mile ahead of the MPC for right now. I use both and am testing the beta since some weeks now. They still have to do something on the workflow side.

The only thing I can see that I want to change on the arrange is part drag & duplication like it does with audio parts. Still using that clunky copy section menu is unpleasant. Hopefully that’s the direction it’s heading. They should look at how gadget works, that’s a very good touch interface implementation. I didn’t know much about how the Force works.

The trouble with xPand2! Is that it is 4 part multi-timbral, the MPC software isn’t geared up for it especially now they are going for a track/instrument paradigm. They would need to have just the stack ability and make it mono-timbral, or the complexity of routing midi tracks to an instrument track with midi channel routing. I can’t imagine they would be keen on the latter when they’re trying to simplify the software in v3. There’s also the issue of multiple outputs for instruments which is not possible at all. Personally I think this discussion happened a long time ago and they decided Fabric was an easier option. I’d love to see it though, I think ditching the multi-timbrality would be perfectly acceptable. Personally I don’t like Fabric much, it’s slow for preset loading, the presets are over the top with effects and most have pressure assigned to vibrato. I’ve requested a lock function for the latter so you can override that annoying assignment.

It doesn’t make sense because the channels would lack their own mixers. It makes much more sense having a mono timbal synth on a track. Think about how programs are now becoming tracks. I’d love to be wrong & you to be right, but I think there’s more chance of winning the lottery than Akai introducing multi-Timbral support.
That would require the ability to upgrade the machine's cpu and ram. With software DAWs, "unlimited audio tracks" really means *as many as your computer can handle.*
They probably realized there is no way they can compete against AKAI. I had the Maschine Micro 2 back in 2015 - but didn’t love it and sold it in 2017😊

Mpc 3.0 is perfect for a multitumbral plugin. You put xpand on a track and send multiple midi tracks through to that track.
