what i love about the uk is that your float fishing / carp species fishing scene is so huge! in my country sweden, people only seem to focus on lure fishing targeting perch and pike etc, but i prefer this type of fishing much more! the whole process of feeding, casting out the bait on a perfect spot etc

I had a 40 lb plus bag from the same swim in early november. I learnt stick float fishing on the trent in the 60s and 70s, watching people like Ivan Marks to learn the trade. The advice then was one number four per foot of depth, cane stem balanced sticks and shotted to a dimple. I used, and still use a centrepin or an Abu 506. I still use the same style. Your approach is so different. The swivel and far heavier float. your results show that this approach works very well. I wonder why there has been such a change over the years?

A fair-weather fisherman myself these days but enjoyed the video. The 'Chroach' seems to be almost unique to the Ribble, no idea why that is. Assume it is more likely to be Chub/Roach than Chub/Dace as Dace generally spawn earlier.

Great video, I can't tell though, how long is the overall length from float to hook and how do you choose that length? Thanks.
