    Very detailed review! Thanks! I'm thinking about getting some K2 Unnaturals for a GC oilslick 3x125 setup. Would you say they match, given the stiffness factor of this boot? Peace 🤜🏻🤛🏻

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  3 года назад

      havent skated them but i think that's probably the ideal boot for that frame based on what I've heard... only other option would be a carbon SX

    Are the cuffs nice and flexy like the old fatty/backyard? Backyards Are Life. I miss mine so bad.

    I ordered size 10s and I'm happy I didn't end up down sizing with this particular boot, if I force my heel back as far as I can my toes don't touch but if I just slip in comfortably and lace up tight the position my feet sit in allow my toes to just feel the end of the skate (this isn't bothersome, but 9.5s may have just been too damn small)

      Noah Bellieu ah just give it some time. I'm the same size as you and can skate those rockered fairly comfortably--the lowest I actually find too stable

    I just the Uptowns. I haven't broken them in yet, but the ankle bone pain is for real. I'm going to try lacing them down like you suggested. I think that will also help and will break them in quicker. What about the mid foot power strap? Do you guys suggest leaving it on or taking it off? With it on and not even tight I feel the K2 lean back more and lose some forward flex. When it's on though I do feel the support and it helps me push a bit harder, I really can't decide if I need to pull it tight or just ditch it.
    I dug up my OG K2 fattys and pros, both had the straps off but that could of just been from them getting destroyed, I can't remember.

      I ended up getting some little foam ankle boot things and that fixed the pain for me. I always do my 45* strap up real tight, and no laces above it. Flex your ankle forward when doing the buckle at the top to make sure you get enough forward movement. Let me know if this helps...

    • @dneill99
      @dneill99 7 лет назад

      Thanks, that's what I ended up doing pretty much. I also got insoles that lift my heels more and make my foot sit in there straight. I'll flex forward more when I buckle and put the 45* straps back on to see if that helps even more.
      Really it seems like the more I can get the super stiff tongue to relax and break in, the better the skate sits on my ankles.

      i got the k2 unnatural, same thing, its very tough and stiff. i find it very hard to jump with them, i dont know why. my freestlye skates with 80mms are easier to jump. im still ages from breaking them in.

      Do you have a link for the foam ankle boot things? I recently bought the Uptowns and the interior ankle bone pain is just intolerable. Unfortunately, I've already put several miles on them and return is not an option. Disappointing considering I've skated on K2s since the mid-90s.

      I ended up drilling 1 half in holes where my ankle bone would be. had the ankle bone problem as well but not anymore

    I know this is old, but I'm thinking about getting the Uptowns and I'm guessing the fit of the Midtowns and Uptowns are probably very similar. Do these run wide? I have narrow feet and I'm concerned that there's going to be too much room width wise. Thanks.

    I want to order a pair of K2 Midtown since watching your video. I’ve been free skating for years on my old Hockey Skates CCM 155 from 1995. I need a new pair. Do u still like them?

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  5 лет назад +1

      Adam Craven I do! They stopped making them though, and I haven’t tried the uptown

      I found my size on inlineskates.com for $98 and I ordered a pair. Thanks for the review and getting back to me. The uptown’s are $249 man that’s a car payment.

    Yo ptd4prez I'm getting my uptowns Monday and I'm fucking hyped!!! Was gonna downsize to 9.5 but inlinewarehouse didn't fucking order any half sizes and I get 15% off from them, so I just got 10s hahaha. Thinking this may allow for a bit of messing about with the footbed though!!! I really wanna get the non orthotic "low profile" fp insoles to rock under a pair of yellow superfeet. Fp insoles are unmatched in dampening the sharp shock you can feel from landing hard in very snug skates (have used in remz under the liner, with no heel shock absorber and it felt amazing)! Also they make completely flat and heel cupped versions that may help remedy that positioning you mentioned about the heel in the superfeet sitting too for back!? Not worried about much added volume because as they warm up with your feet the fp insoles really pack out (but continue absorbing shock).

      @CityBlades  7 лет назад

      Very cool, man, I definitely need to try the FP's. Lemme know how you get on with the Midtowns

    Could you change the frames for some aluminum ones? If so, which would you recommend?

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  6 лет назад

      PIPE 86 yeah I put kizer arrows on em, they’re aluminum. If you wanna do grinds I’d go with them, if not, seba makes a UFS deluxe frame that I’m sure is great

  • @noahbellieu2000
    @noahbellieu2000 7 лет назад

    I have kizer arrows as well! I haven't skated them yet though, I was too excited to give the rockerable frames that came on my uptowns a go (after reading joey say he was liking the mimic of natural rocker he was doing with these)

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  7 лет назад

      Dope! Arrows are one of my top 5 products out right now for sure. To be honest with you a regular banana rocker isn't objectively worse than a natural rocker... on my midtown frames when i had it set up to where the inner wheels were only one rocker position down from the outside ones, it felt very similar to the NR100.
      I'd say do up the back wheel one "notch", the front one up 2, go hit a tennis court, and by the time you rotate the wheels you'll have an excellent rocker

  • @Ivy-G
    @Ivy-G 4 года назад

    Could you swap out the stock frames for an aggressive rocker style ufs frame?

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  4 года назад +1

      Ivan Gracio it’s a UFS boot so yes

  • @noahbellieu2000
    @noahbellieu2000 7 лет назад

    Do I need something besides an allen tool to rocker these and throw my 80mm undercover wheels on there? Took off one side of the axle but it seems they are both needing something to unscrew each bolt with? There's a little square on one side then the allen on the other

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  7 лет назад

      No, they're just a pain in the ass to get out. I usually unscrew all the bolts about half way, turn em over, and (sorta gently) step on the frame to pop em out

  • @dose1013

    dude the way K2 implements Their cuff allows for the sickest royals of any skate hands down the K2 cuff is probably the best design to ever have been put on skates but hey I guess that's just my opinion and you know what they say it's like an ass hole but that cuff really does allow for the easiest flex for groove tricks! just saying no goku haha OK my brother keep posting new vids n reviews n always keep shreddin!!!!

      I ended up getting some of those ankle booties and it fixed the pinch for the most part. Thanks for the words!

    Are the frames replaceable with my seba 243 frames?

  • @noahbellieu2000
    @noahbellieu2000 7 лет назад +1

    I can't get them shits out, brother man. Hahahaha is there any way the metal frame is different then the plastic frame that the midtowns come with?

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  7 лет назад +1

      I highly doubt it. K2 has a customer service line, but i'm 90% sure you just need to unscrew em, put the unscrewed part face down on a flat surface, and step on it

  • @noahbellieu2000
    @noahbellieu2000 7 лет назад +1

    ptd4prez I got my uptowns in and got the chance to skate around in front of my house, they feel awesome and very very stiff! However the frames are short as fuck and that is really odd for me!!! Makes me think I would love the 90mm wizards. 80mm wheels don't even feel big unless sliding which is also a surprise to me as I have always skated 56-60mm wheels

    • @CityBlades
      @CityBlades  7 лет назад

      what size (US) shoe are you?
      Also for less support you can drop a few lace holes--i don't lace mine up past the 45* strap
