Almaty: A City of Contrasts Almaty, a captivating blend of Eastern charm and Western modernity, presents a city of striking contrasts. Its stunning mountain backdrop, lush parks, and vibrant cultural scene make it a tourist's paradise. However, beneath this alluring facade lies a complex reality marred by the insidious presence of corruption. The city's opulent buildings and luxury cars stand in stark contrast to the impoverished neighborhoods that dot its outskirts. While international investors are drawn to its economic potential, local businesses often find themselves entangled in bureaucratic red tape and demands for bribes. Despite the challenges posed by corruption, Almaty's spirit remains resilient. Its people, known for their warmth and hospitality, continue to strive for a better future. A growing civil society is emerging, with activists and organizations working tirelessly to combat corruption and promote transparency. Almaty's journey towards a brighter future will undoubtedly be arduous, but the city's inherent beauty and the determination of its people offer hope for a day when corruption is a relic of the past. Would you like to explore a specific aspect of Almaty or corruption in more detail?

Ooh wow ocean basket in Almaty?! The South African restaurant.
I never knew about this restaurant. Is it very popular??
@@francoismarc3 have you been to Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦? Ocean basket is very popular and it’s almost in every corner), a budget friendly seafood restaurant)). It would be nice to visit when im in Almaty) to get a feel for south african vibes while in Kz)). Where is the ocean basket in Almaty? Thanks
@@francoismarc3 The Ocean Basket story begins in 1995 when the very first restaurant opened in a small retail space in Pretoria, South Africa, but the stage was set long before
@@francoismarc3 do u know Nandos? It’s also South African restaurant, it’s all over the uk)). South Africa has a lots of chain of restaurants, but not all of them international like these 2, maybe more, which I’m not aware of. I wish they had their beef steak restaurants like Hussar grill and Spur ( children friendly with a big play place inside their restaurants) in the uk.
Yeah, there are about 7 Ocean Baskets in Almaty, pretty popular place)
Hi, such a great and entertaining video. I just have one question, because I will stay in Almaty for 2 months. Did you plan where to go or just went out and walked?
I would also appreciate other recommendations ☺️
Hey, thanks so much!! For Almaty proper, I had no plan. I just walked around and explored. For the lakes and canyon in the region, my friends and I organized a tour:) 2 months in Almaty...you're lucky! Hope you enjoy your trip:)
@@francoismarc3 thank you very much!! Yes I hope too :)
