Finally someone recording this game who knows what they are talking about! Thank you Anton! I'm studying Astrophysics and these videos are just fascinating and educational on a new level. I keep trying to re-create your scenarios in my game, but it's tough. Maybe you could do a video on basics of this game? Simulation settings etc? Again, thank you!
+Anton Petrov (WhatDaMath) Oh can I ask something Petrov? I spawn a planet and put a moon but when I adjusted its eccentricity it flung out of orbit and so you know I want to delete that moon. How do I do it?
There was a bit of an experiment that I did with Earth, and what I did was I bombarded earth with various moons from around the solar system (Around 7 or 8 of them), just to see what happened. The New Earth as I've called it, only has one ocean, one HUGE continent, and millions of tiny little islands. But the most interesting thing is I've changed it's rotation. It now has a north/south rotation, rather than an east/west one. And this roatation stays the same relative to the sun. Which means that there are still seasons. In the Eastern summer, and the western winter, the East of the planet is constantly facing the sun, and the west away from it. Obviously in the Western summer, it's the opposite. In the eastern spring, the sun rises in the south and sets in the north, and the Eastern fall, it rises in the north and sets in the south. Also, it has a day/night cycle of just 29 minutes.
Thank you. I have a good grasp on how protoplanetary disks evolve, but I've never seen it demonstrated in a way that really made sense of the interactions before. Now you've made me eager to simulate these situations for myself to get a real feel for what happens.
Wow Anton, you deserve so much support. So many interesting and educating videos you have. As a teacher I will recommend your videos to all my students. I am also a weather forecaster and I like how the temperature change when you simulate the creation of a planet. Kind regards from Mexico.
dude you diserve more than 19k subs your probalby the only youtuber i know that goes into detail about things and i its space just be careull i might be poping up here and there and by here and there i mean every video you make about space that sounds like a good video
+Roberts Erglis I agree. Others do many cool things, but they don't go even in a little detail they try one thing and they sometimes try it again a little differently, but they don't try it more than that. It's entertaining, but it's annoying when they don't something a little different to make it work.
The Solar system started out with orbits going in two directions and planets going clockwise and counter clockwise, making the solar system deside which direction it was going to flow till eventually one direction is completely destroyed due to collisions by other planets going opposite ways directions.
Lol never thought of it that way. But then, you could say that the real universe is like a big Agar.io server. . . Except with a crapton of other stuff, like living organisms on the planets that are unfortunately along for the violent ride against their will, unless they survived long enough to evolve to develop ways to avoid that
It's nice to have a video narrated by someone who actually understands the basics of planetary formation, astronomy and physics. Much more interesting than the videos of people just throwing things at each other and going "uh, I'm not sure why that happened".

You just made one start orbit another star, a binary star system does not work like that. Both stars must orbit around a barycentre. Scott Manley made a video on this.

+Zedric A lot of binarys are like that, but if it were "spaced" out, (Like Alpha Centuari) it would probably be stable in some senses.

I don't see why cutting is a problem
I mean, there wasn't all that much you missed in between
The jump cut wasn't the problem. The fact that he didn't use the time advancing tool. Was.
It achieved the same result so I don't know why you're making it such a big problem.
It takes billions of years to cool down. Try speeding up to that in a simulation like this. It won't let you. Too intensive.

What, no gas giants ? My understanding is that it was the gas giants that helped "round up" the rocky planets and forced them into regular orbits. Also, Jupiter apparently moved from the inner system to the outer is what caused the disruption that may have led to the Earth/Theia collision.

great video, it was hard for me personally to see the planets without the trails. maybe turn it on randomly a few seconds. thank u sir.

Thanks for this video. I gotta create one earth myself :)
I'd have done a larger star alongside a smaller companion star for the binary (maybe a blue-white or yellow-orange alongside a red dwarf, white dwarf, or maybe even brown dwarf). Idk, just feels like it may have worked out a bit better than two red dwarfs. Really maybe just differing gravities on the stars, maybe one with far less than the other to avoid everything flying out.
Maybe try adding a hundred random moons along with many clusters of fragments. That would promote collisions and you might even get a saturn.
