@@reaganriddle I've had the most luck anywhere between Asheville Airport and Lowes in Brevard. There is a well known area called the "Muskie Mile", it's the ideal habitat for them. It's only accessable with a boat etc
@@buckdown87 I know where the Muskie mile is. My dad literally owns a warehouse about a half a mile down the road from it! Considering where you say habitat wise that you fish on it, I know of a perfect spot now. I’m gonna try it probably tomorrow if I can!
You need a big net and a wire leader if you are going to Muskie fish. Your lucky you were able to get him in without his teeth cutting your line. I also died a little when he was banging around in the bottom of your boat. Muskies may get huge and that is a small one for most places, but they are fragile when out of the water.
where you should fish for muskie is rock flats and use bucktails they like to stay in about 1-5 feet in the spring and fall summer they stay in 10-20 my pb was on a bullhead it was 48 inches

And then when it turns upside down just try to flip it with a paddle. Clearly neither of them had any clue how to revive the fish, had almost no clue how heavy the equipment needed is, and didn't bring a net or pliers for the retrieval of the lure. If anyone reads this and thinks I'm just being an a-hole, that fish and every muskie are the future of this sport, and if we kill and eat them (the fish that was caught probably wasn't even legally sized for keeping, and the DNR could fine him if he did) we will lose these fish. The first thing you should do when deciding to fish for musky is research what you need and how to revive them if they flip like in the video. Absolutely no respect for the fish in this video.

whenever you catch a musky and handle them make sure to keep lots of water on it. or keep it in the water a little that’s why the fish almost didn’t make it

The reason why fisherman get upset is because if people dont know what they're doing catching muskie is because they're rare, and a hard fish to catch, known as a trophy and despite all their appeared "toughness" they're actually quite sensitive and can die rather easily. Which is what makes anglers who pursue these fish particularly responsible for their return to the water in a caring and timely manner. We encourage fishermen to enjoy the waters and the fish that reside in there. However, each fish needs to be treated with respect, especially muskie. You needed a net, proper release tools, i.e., hook cutters, jaw spreaders, plyers/hook release tool, and should keep the fish in the water for as long as possible. Take a picture, then release and confirm it swims away. Practices like this almost always ensure the fishes health and by doing so keeps a breeder in the population so future fisherman will catch more muskie. Otherwise you can increase the saying of a fish of 10,000 casts to a fish of 100,000.
