Me: *sees FATE Core mentioned* Violently pushes the like button even not watching the video! There needs to be more content around FATE and I fully support video for beginners!
Haha thank you!!! It’s so underrated right?! Like I’m so shocked there’s barely any content on it.
looking foward to see the development of this series
Thank you so much mate, literally making my day over here!
I have tried both FATE Core and FATE Accelerated. Accelerated is great for one-shots, since approaches clearly define how a character operates. Core is good for longer games - it prevents someone from leaning on the same approach for all their actions, which becomes rote over time.
I'll also say this in favour of FATE: There are other games that do storytelling well, but FATE is the rare game that has a strong mechanical support for any improvised storytelling that may happen. Just come up with aspects during play, and FATE's mechanics will handle the rest.
It would help if you tried out Fate Condensed it is the upgrade & only costs $8 or a free pdf
Gosh, I’m excited! Fate, let’s go 🎉
Woo! I’m gonna try get the second episode out by this weekend!
I'm a Fate CORE GM and I feel like I feels good for everithing except combat. I'ts so simplifyed that I must make a few homebrew rules in order to not to make an all-powerfull character with 3 skills. As a frined of mine told, in Fate, the fights are just a way to do narrative (he is hardcore).
Thinking of keeping an eye in Accelerated for a normie group.
Btw I love the way the characters are created and the fun of making them, not like D&D that are photocopies... In FATE they have sould.
There are easy ways to make combat more interesting. First of all, use Create an Advantage a whole bunch, it makes the game more fun. Then you can introduce situational combat aspects based on the people engaged. Let's say your player uses Rapier and enemy wears Plate Armor, you can introduce aspect "Plate Armor" which the enemy can use to Defend against rapier, but another player with hammer can invoke that aspect against the enemy, because hammer is great against armored opponents. Also introduce more personalized skills, instead of Fight, use Fencing, Kung-Fu, Fist Fighting etc.
@@Tesoro1996 I agree with you. The main problem is that my players never think on creating advantages or not thinking of weapons narratively so always go to the crude statl. Don't know how to make them think of creating advantages 🥺...
@@oriolbiosca693 you can practice it with them by giving enemies big obvious weaknesses, like a vampire's Trouble "Garlic is Poison", or a mage's "Wards of Weapon Turning" that makes them immune to attacks until the PCs find a way to Overcome or Compel it
@@lawrl777 Yeah it should work. The key point here if the whole stats and aspects are shown or not. I mean, it's quite known that garlic and vampires mixes bad, but some of them don't jave it event in mind, so I make it expicit or it will be useless. :/
Sounds like a very interesting system!
Honestly I love it!
Hope the video was ok! What do you think about me trying something new like this?
@@BananaBreakdownI like the video but I don’t know if my group will ever want to play something less rules-heavy :(
Totally get it! I have a seperate FATE and D&D group lol
great, I needed more good introductions to the system
Thank you :D let me know if you have anything you specifically wanna see!
Fate good. Me like.
Such an underrated system!
This feels like it was written by AI.
@@yeoldeharbinger5880 lol it wasn’t but ok thank you for your input.
Please find a way to stop saying FATE all the time xD
Haha seeing this you made me realise I need to change my script for the second episode. So you’d be happy to know after a couple times I just go down to “core” and “accelerated” and only say like 5 times the whole vid 🤣
don't forget about Fate Condensed! Personally, i tend more towards the full toolkit of Fate Core, but i think Approaches are really neat so i tend to swap those back in
Ah! I think I’m going to do a big video just for condensed as its own little thing :) what do you think about that idea?
Also same!! I’ve been using them in both systems lately haha
Funny enough I played a mini campaign with Fate Accelerated using the Uranium Chef setting. We had so much fun and there were so many moments where each character shined in ways that were unexpected. We were learned the fate system together and I screwed up the rules and mechanics a lot but that didn't matter all too much like it would for D&D or other systems. We told an awesome story and enjoyed what we had made. I will never forget the invention of the stunt "Blasphemous Blessing" whenever rolling to aid an ally or disadvantage an enemy you get a +2 to clever. Whenever it was used the player would almost always get a legendary outcome and we ended up with so many fun and hilarious moments!
Dude that’s sick! I really love that. Also the fact you “bent the rules” a bit is what it’s all about and why sometimes I really prefer fate over other systems. Also that sounds freaking great haha I love it!
I played FATE and FAE, GMed both. I think there are good things in both and usually I end up using a mix of both tailored for my purpose.
Will keep this guide to show new players in future. Thanks! :)
Oh I searched a lot for a video like this a while ago, so glad I got this recommended.
Aw wow! thank you! Making me so happy over here haha. This is such an awesome comment wow!
This was really interesting! I may try this at some point
I think someone who’s a really good creative like yourself would really enjoy it cause of the freedoms! Def would if I were you!
Commenting to help with the algorithm
@@danielgomes2576 you’re so awesome that I screenshotted this comment so I can look back to it. Literally people like you are the reason I keep posting. I probably won’t ever make a cent with this channel and you people make it worth me spending hours to make these videos. You have no idea the smile you’ve given me by making this comment ❤️
I'm going to feature this video on my site! It's a great breakdown of the Fate rules, and I need something like this to help explain my game to my audience! I'll embed the video and also link to your Fate RPG 101 playlist. Keep it going! Don't let me down! lol
Oh my gosh!!! Thank you so much! Wow I’m literally speechless right now!! Thank you so much!! I won’t 🫡 already did the voicing for the second ep I’m now working on the video!! Hoping to release it by the end of this week / early next week.
Again thank you so much omg!!!
@@BananaBreakdown Got it up on the site! Sent you the link in Reddit. Hope it's all good for ya!
Awesome video! I subscribed to the channel and sure will watch the hole series. But not a word on Fate Condensed. Why?
Great question!! Also thank you so much :)
Reason why is that I want to make FATE condensed its own 1 long episode. I feel it deserves its own thing especially for beginners who just wanna get into it ya know
I really messed up by not saying anything about it though!
Fantastic! Fate is a wonderful system.
Agreed! It’s so under appreciated
