It's a bit of both, but studies have found that listening to songs in a foreign language allow for the emotion of a song to come across better, as you're less focused on understanding the words lyrics and more on the inflection of the lyrics.

@@tigress1699 she tries to comfort Byleth, but knowing her she'll fail. After all, one who hurts themself has a hard time helping others. The only thing she finds herself able to do, is hug them. She tries saying it'll all be okay, but she knows Byleth wants revenge, she decides her way of helping is to get revenge with them. And shortly after that she comes up with a plan to get revenge.

@@kafkaesque_08 Although knowing that the the person who killed jeralt was one of her despised allies she was hesitant to say "I'll help you get revenge" but she also knows that byleth cannot stay like this so she said it anyways and it worked but guilt never left her side...

While I had a glimmer of hope that Edelgard would have learned, that final moment when Dimitri stabbed her really hurt.
After so much pain from Dimitri's character arc in the route, I am filled with so many mixed feelings.
I did enjoy it, but the ending was what hurt most, since of their relationship, being siblings by Marriage of course.
Felix didn't hesitate to call Dimitri a boar for fighting in that last battle...
This route brought out so much emotion and many tears.
Absolutely beautiful.
But it won't stop hurting.
after finishing Edelgaurd's route, this song feels so warm and cold at the same time... its like a poem written by her and was scrapped and she wasn't able to sing it in the end...

Fun Fact: The Japanese name for Fire Emblem: Three Houses is Fire Emblem: Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon, which refers to the 4 post timeskip arcs. The Japanese name for Edge of Dawn is Girl of Hresvelg referring to Edelgard, and the song is sung in her perspective for when she dies in Silver Snow. Also, the Seasons of Warfare refers to Wind, Flower, Snow and Moon in the Japanese name

the only japanese version of FE i've played is Fates, because the localization version are pretty much a butchered from the original (jp). Leaving a bad taste to whom wanted enjoy the content to the fullest
I only turn Japanese on to listen to Aoi Yuki, notably, amongst the other seiyuu talents. I was debating playing in JP overall but there's no direct translation for the dialogue; it's just the same English localization script whenever you play, so you're missing out on the actual meaning of what's being said.

A very well made char. Not evil, not good. I really liked.
After playing Crimson Flower I can support her plan though. The big difference was really whether or not she had her proffessor helping.
She had good intentions, but concluded that to achieve them she had to work with some evil people and do some bad things.
This is definitely the best version, her voice makes me emotional 🇯🇵❤️

I'm glad I played the route that made her happy, but the other routes are painful for me and could not play yet.
I think you can make a great play out of Three Houses. I think it has Shakespeare level depth to it.

@@diamondfrieza5391 I think that is a insult to Shakespeare, granted the stories are somewhat easy to explain, but there are plays he wrote that are LEAGUES better than FE's stinkers(when the story is good, it is *GOOD* but when the story feels uninspired or generic, that can make the game somewhat of a slog even if the gameplay is good for the series)
What's interesting to me is that at one point the song uses lyrics to talk about racing after someone in the rain, desperately wanting to catch up to them, and they use the term あなた (anata), which is a way to refer to someone's beloved. Which means that if it's Edelgard singing (very likely) and Byleth is the "you" she's referring to in the song (also very likely), she's basically admitting how much she loves Byleth and how she hopes they will stay with her.
Which of course just makes the routes where you don't side with her even more heartbreaking than they already were.

I bet the flower ending. I wanted to protect Edelgard, but the price was also unbearable. Why there isn’t a perfect ending. I hate that.
I am a die hard fire emblem fan but I only completed 1 route for 3 houses because I really cannot stomach killing edelgard. She's perfect in every way.
As a fellow Edelgard simp I still have to say, *she has a lot of problems*
both as the character that she is and the fact that the way she is written has a lot of problems as well .
I think it is important that she still is a antagonist but she could have been better written as a tragic anti hero when you side with her.
In that regard she and Reha have a lot in common , both have reasons for the things they do and have a bunch of potential but just the way the story is written and executed sucks .

Seriously, the English version sounds more like a fan-made cover than an official song. At least Seasons of Warfare helps mask the English singing quality with more and louder instrumentals.

If you mean in terms of music, I certainly don’t believe I have better singing capabilities than she does, but I don’t need to in order to criticize her singing quality. Just like I don’t have to be able to write a book to know when a story has plot holes.
I’m not saying all fan-covers are bad- hell, just listen to even half of Amalee’s. But if an OFFICIAL version of the MAIN song in a PROFESSIONALLY PRODUCED video game very clearly sounds amateurish to even your average listener, that’s a problem.
Also, I’m not saying that her singing is utter shit or anything like that. I’m saying that her singing has flaws that only stand out even more due to the very quiet or sometimes even silent instrumentals. I actually enjoy listening to the English version of Seasons of Warfare quite a lot.

While they did a really good job transliterating with this song as opposed to “lost in thoughts all alone” this song was originally written for the Japanese language, and the words don’t flow as well in English, so to fully appreciate the English version I listened to the flow of this version.
I'll be honest I actually hate the English version of this song. I actually hated Edge of Dawn. I just didn't like the singer I think. Glad I decided to listen to the original Japanese version cause I love this version
they really put this on the end so that everyone who killed Edelgard will feel bad and would play crimson flower to see what happy ending awaits that route....
not me though, a man with a functioning brain will never play that route. I take no pity to war criminals who can plunge the entire region into chaos and literally turns people into actual demons on a daily basis just because she experienced maximum emotional damage during childhood as if she was the only one who had a rough one.
English version is better. This is still good though.
