My brother and I are cutting logs to cut lumber for our sawmill. Some of these logs are very heavy which makes it challenging maneuvering in the woods without machinery.
A wonderful winter's day in the woods for sure! A friend of mine that heated with wood told me that cutting wood always warmed you twice...once in the cutting and then once in the burning. Lots of work for sure...great work!
Always love it in the woods and yes you definitely warm up twice, no matter how cold it is I’m always warm when working in the woods, thanks for sharing
Some lovely saw logs there, watch the back (from a guy who has a screwed up one lol) Love the drone footage of the falling tree. Good haul in four days , definitely save a few dollars with the price of lumber. Great video, take care.
Thanks Gary, I always wear a back brace when in the woods, I too have back issues from spending many years flying bush planes and loading and unloading heavy loads Looking forward to firing up the mill and sawing these logs
@@blacksprucecountry1315 Now that's something I'd enjoy as a kid growing up in Gaultois I spent many an hour with my Great Uncle in his sawmill especially when he sawed timbers for a boat he was building for my father. Love the smell of fresh cut lumber
BACK SPRUCE COUNTRY HAS LANDED IN FIR COUNTRY...........6 logs then a fire.........yup 16.6 fires and you got your 100 logs............awesome guys.......keep it up........ love it. You done very well with it!!!
Enjoyed the video. One nice thing for sure cutting in the snow is less/no dirt in the bark to dull the mill blade. I know they're still stinking heavy with moisture, but do you think the boards dry any quicker for winter cut logs? I do my cutting in the summer and fall. Just trying to decide if its worth skidding them out with the snow machine...(aside from the fun)
Thanks Glen for your comment, they are wet and heavier in winter. I don’t think it matters cutting in winter or fall, they’re still wet. For me it’s much more convenient as my logging lot is on accessible by snowmobile, we have to travel on ice as well plus your right, lots of fun. Take care
Great stuff cowboy Jim!!
Thanks buddy, hard work but lots of fun
Some nice size logs there!
Thanks
That drone footage was cool as frost!! Lots of hard work! Be well and stay safe!
Thanks, drone work takes time but in the end it’s worth it

Thanks bud, best part of the day is the fire and cup of tea. We usually knock down 4-5 trees a day and by the time we haul them out it’s a full day
Nice.
