As someone who mains great britain only currently (hear me out) I would say that i believe the challenger 3 TD could possibly be an even worse choice, For starters The CR3 no longer gets the 5 second reload now that it has switched to the standard nato smoothbore 120mm this means it gets access to the dm53 round however this means the ammo is all stored in the turret without any blowout panels (its a demonstration vehicle) meaning currently it is the only mbt that can be ammo rack via a cannon breech shot not to mention the mobility barely gets an upgrade and the barely armored upper front plate means that the tank cannot brawl and cant even be a back line sniper due to the ammo rack weakness (this is just an alternative i dont want argue which nation has it worse because italy definitely does)
The Ariete AMV PT1 is 1 of 3 trial variants of the Ariete which each employ different armor schemes and most importantly a better engine. The AMV PT3 employs a major armor upgrade which makes it competent on modern combat, but it’s still slightly lacking all together, the pt3 is not in game for whatever reason
Lets not forget how its BARELY lighter than other MBTs, and having weaker engines makes their acceleration suuuper mid. BUT they have the added swag factor of "you died to an ariete lmao"
Gotta disagree with you here, I have somehow survived countless hits from the M1A1 AIM. Playing Italy makes you learn how to use lightly armored tanks effectively

Main issue about the armor, iirc, is that it uses a type of uranium armor that gaijin refuses to model in
