I’ve been finding pink princesses EVERYWHERE. A little tip for anyone out there looking for a PPP, wait until you find one thats perfectly variegated. Don’t settle. They are going to be flooding the market this spring. I bought the first one I saw…almost no verigation only to see new shipments coming in every week all over Michigan. You’ll see zero verigation next to the most stunning specimen, so just wait until you find the perfect one 😊
How much have you been finding them for? I bought mine from Gabriella Plants for $50 and she’s stunning. I’d like to get a 2nd one to put on a moss pole with the first since they don’t fill out very well.
@@carolinebaines8735 $20-29…I’ve been seeing them at Walmart, HomeDepot, and Meijer. I’m doing the same thing, putting 3 different plants in the same pot with a pole to make for a fuller look. And it’ll help ensure there’s a lot of pink in the pot, there will always be one of them putting out some pink.
I’ve been searching for various aloes for my bright shade spots outdoors. Early this week I bought from a clearance rack at Lowe’s a Delta Dawn Aloe with 5 plants crammed into a 1 gallon pot for $13.50! I divided them into 3 separate pots. Yesterday I found at a cactus nursery in Tucson a Partridge Breast Aloe for $10. Six mature plants with more pups crammed into a gallon grower’s pot! What a bountiful trip!
Good news for big box stores in Missouri I found a chameleon ZZ plant at home Depot. Then went to Lowes found a Hoya Bilobata hanging basket and then to Walmart found a philodendron Pink Princess for $24.95. the others were under $20. It was a great shopping day yes all in the same day 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Ashley, love your new Philodendron! Great find. Always enjoy your plant shopping videos. Finding an uncommon plant is always a great experience. So happy for you! Take care. 🪴👌🥰
Nice find! My daughter and I went to the Dallas Arboretum today to support our local cart use succulent society. I almost had a stroke when I saw a Whale Fin with pups for $15! We did leave with some beautiful plants...most exciting was a boogie cactus! Love it. So many cacti I've never seen before too.
There were gorgeous fully blooming hydrangeas on the floor under the houseplant tables at your first stop, Home Depot. I admit to being a bit puzzled that the larger indoor plant community seemingly ignores plants that are known more for their flowers than their foliage. The beautiful philodendron you picked up is great. Thanks for sharing your shopping experience.
Your Calkins Gold is gorgeous! I was feeling burnt out over this winter with my plants. I hadn’t gotten a new plant in so long, I randomly popped into my local Home Depot two weeks ago and found a golden ring of fire philodendron! It was huge and from the same grower as your Calkins. Finding something fun and beautiful sparked my plant hunting joy again. Thank you for taking us along on your planty hunts I’m excited to see what other beautiful plants will be available this year.
You're so lucky, my Home Depots are terrible here. I get it though, I'm in the Midwest where spring starts officially tomorrow, and currently there is snow on the ground. We have a few good indoor nurseries around here but I'll definitely keep my eye open for this beauty. I love all my philos.
Hi Ashley, enjoying your videos and great info. Last Sat my daughter and I went to Big Bloomers in Sanford, NC and of course we were delighted! What a wonderful, huge nursery with great prices, too. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Thank you for sharing! I’ll be on the look out here in MN. We usually get things later, probably due to cold weather. Thanks for the heads up!!!! Really enjoy your videos. !
I found a Brantianum at Lowe's as well! Most recently I actually found a chameleon ZZ and wide form adansonnii at my local Walmart! It was freezing and they were outside so it remains to be seen if they will survive.. fingers crossed.
I found a white princess in a four inch pot for $24.99 at my local nursery. Last summer they were tiny and double the price. The varigation on it is amazing too. It's nice when the plants you want become affordable. 😊
What a beautiful philodendron! I really love that variety of pholodendrum started my collection with Prince of Orange 2 years ago and searching for more like that I also got a philodendrum Brazil this week and love all the variegation in it
I found one of those snow queen looking marble queens a few weeks ago. Kept in a pretty well lit portion of the house and all the white died out. New growth came in with more standard marble queen coloring. Not mad about it--she's full and pretty and was worth every penny!!
I bought one like that last summer and the same thing happened to me, I do keep it right under a grow light too so I don't think it's that. It's still pretty but not as white
Hey Ashley, great find! I’m curious where you got your large white plant stands and what they’re called. I looked in the description and couldn’t find it. I bought some cute shelves and am now realizing they’re spaced too close together. I’ve burned a couple of plants. So, if you could share, I’d really appreciate it!
Ashley, when will the syngonium alba (white and green variety)be available on the market? Thanks We never have this variety at the big box stores here in Maine,I jealous 😊Happy you found the plant you wanted!
I just picked up a full 8in basket of philodendron green dragon from HD today for $29.99! I got a top cutting from someone local for $10 a few weeks ago!
So pretty your new plant! I have not seen this one and we get our shipment on Tuesday! So exciting.....I would love to add this one....my favorite brand! Love leafjoy so so much!
I bought a Calkins Gold from Oakdale Greenhouse months ago. Even on sale, it was still more than Home Depot. It does seem to like bright indirect light. They had white wizard at The Cactus Club last time I was there.
Haworthia truncata and the Brandi Philodendron were the 2 I would have picked. I live in San Antonio and our big box stores carry a lot or English ivys when I go in. So watching your finds are a dream.
I finally found a Raven ZZ for $20 at Walmart, the search is finally over! The hunt is definitely part of the fun, now I'm keeping an eye out for a gloriosum.
My husband just got a new job in Michigan and we will be traveling back and forth a lot to Grand Rapids. I’m excited to do some plant shopping there! It looks beautiful!
Woe is me. I never find anything good at the big box stores near me here in Raleigh NC. I would have bought the Scindapsus Exotica and the Caulkins that you got. Maybe I’ll go look around today. 👍🏼⭐️.
Wow, the HD where I live is a mess! The houseplants are all shoved off in a tight space, to the side of the door, almost no light. However, I did find a nice P Brazil for $15 which I wanted.
The International Airoid Society doesn't acknowledge Snow Queen as a cultivar, it's just a marketing name for highly varigated Marble Queen! Not being critical, but don't want you to think you need both a snow and marble since they are the same thing ^_^
These finds must be regional, because my big box stores have crap for plant stock. 😑Your stores looks more like an actual plant shop/nursery than a big box store. 😆 On a side note...I get why they do it, but I'd rather buy the plants in their plastic grow pots, than pay the extra for ceramic pots I really don't want.
I bought plants at home depot once like 5 of them because they were on sale for $5 each. And I didn't know that they were infested with gnats. Fungus gnats. So I eventually had to throw them all out because I just could not get rid of the nuts. So I don't think I would ever buy plants from there again.
I had a problem with gnats also, but I accidently found out how to get rid of them once and for all. I poured myself a glass of Fireball and spilled some on the counter top, I walked away for a few minutes and when I came back the gnats were all over drops. So I put out a little glass bowl of Fireball on the counter, sure enough, the next morning there was a least a dozen dead in the bowl. I haven't had a problem since.
Hi. The big box stores always have gnats. This is why I first take off the top 1-2" of soil, then spray with fungicide, into a clear plastic bag for quarantine for 30 days. I've been doing this for yrs, I've never killed a plant by this method. I don't have a fungus gnat problem. Actually bc the plants are in a bag getting lots of humidity, they tend to grow like crazy. My Monstera Peru doubled in size, started trailing in the bag. Good luck. Great find Ashley.
