  • A quick look at this golden oldie kit that I found on eBay - a white metal Ferrari 156 from Wills Finecast, released sometime in the late 1960s. This is the famous "shark nose" Ferrari from the 1961 Formula 1 season, driven by Wolfgang von Trips and Phil Hill.

    That's something that you don't see often!

      Right? I thoughtvI'd heard of most model companies, especially those who make cars.

    Glad you said 'build', there's not much point in collecting boxes imo. Looking forward to seeing it.

    Wow what an old kit, needs a good clean up but should look good when done, nice find Stu.

      Thanks. Yes, one of the few times I've stumbled onto something on eBay and genuinely felt like I've got a bargain.

      @@ModelNerd That cleanup might involve toxic metal dust.

      Yes, I think you might be right. I'll be gloved up, masked up, and very careful about where the removed material goes when I attempt it

      Definitely! Not common to see cars from this era in kit form.

    Looking forward to seeing this build.
    It,s nice to see something different in the modeling hobby. This is the first time I've seen these kits and I,m in my middle 70,s.

      I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've started keeping an eye out for more on eBay but they are very rare and expensive when they do come up.

    Interesting kit and look forward to seeing the build video. Surprised the tyres are in such good condition.

      I’m astonished. They should have melted or crumbled by now.
      Also hoping for a build video soon as I’ve never built such a kit.

    A very interesting kit. I have not heard of these models. Like you say it looks more like 1/20 rather than 1/24 because the 156 was a small car.. I have build some of the cast metal Hubley kits and they make good models eventually but there is just so much filing to clean up the parts.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  6 месяцев назад

      I've never heard of Hubley either! :) I'll have to get searching!

    I love the look of 50s-70s f1s,and the Ferrari is just one of those that i can never get enough of looking at,i love all the f1s you have made so far and can’t wait for more,also will the e60 painting come out before 2024 or not?

      Thanks mate. The E-60 is on the workbench for final camo painting this afternoon :) However I only have a couple of days before I travel so I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to have the video ready in time or not.

      A classic eh? I thought you'd like that one. I wish there were more cars of this era available. It seems like only Revival make them - but they're expensive.

      @@ModelNerdTotally. Where I work, we have the 1959 Cooper (the first mid engine F1 championship winner) and I love the look of that era.

    Recast the lot in resin, and keep the kit!, also search out some better wire wheels, maybe MFH?, I'm sure they do a generic borrani style f1 set, but might be 1/20..

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  4 месяца назад

      That would be an interesting project! I'll definitely look out for new wheels.

    Hi Stu, I don't think I'd build it. I'd set about to collect all the Serial numbers and keep them. From a collector's perspective anyway. Good luck. What glue will you use?

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  6 месяцев назад

      I'll definitely keep an eye out for some of the other kits. In terms of glue, I'm hoping superglue would do it as I don't really want to solder things.
