    Just to show the final outcome of two Jaguar X-Type rear door-panels I wrapped in dark brown cow leather.
    These two rear panels are part of a rear set that also includes the seat cushion and backrest.
    All of these rear parts would be mounted on a wooden frame and would be used as an armchair for my upholstery office.
    I will be showing step by step until concluding my furniture project.
    I hope you find some inspiration in this video!
    Cesar

    This is great! One of my first jobs I worked in an automotive upholstery shop. We used some German glue that I couldn't pronounced the name of and stuff would never release. We also had a leather planer and we were able to get the leather almost paper thin. Made it very easy to stretch along complex curves.

    Hola muy bonito es mejor el secador o la pistola de aire caliente

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  5 лет назад +1

      Estimado Juan, ambos funcionan para generar aire caliente y activar el pegamento de poliuretano. Si es el secador suficiente con la regulación baja. Lo mismo con la pistola de aire caliente, hay que regularlo en baja, porque si está muy fuerte puede fruncir el cuero y hasta llegar a quemarlo.

    Sus manos son milagrosas! Es increíble lo bien que trabaja usted la piel, y esa piel se ve muy maleable y flexible.... 👍👍👍👍👍
    No recuerdo si en algún vídeo ha dicho la diferencia entre la cola de contacto amarilla y el pegamento transparente, polyurethane glue, que utiliza en este vídeo. Podría por favor decirnos en qué casos es mejor utilizar una u otra? Muchísimas gracias de nuevo por estos vídeos tan interesantes!! 👏👏👏👏

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  5 лет назад +1

      Estimado Johnny, ¡Muchas gracias por su amable comentario! La piel es un saldo que compré. Supongo que muchos de los saldos son rechazados en las tenerías ó fábricas por algún defecto y se venden a bajo precio. Pero no deja de ser cuero y la verdad muy fuerte el material. Tuve que 'domarla' de antemano para hacerla flexible. De otro modo si es dificultoso trabajar con estos materiales. Para piel buena es la del color rojizo, de las partes de MBenz que muestro en unos video clips anteriores.
      En cuanto al llamado pegamento de poliuretano, es el pegamento que después de secado, no pega, a menos que se le aplique cierto calor a ambas superficies. Este pegamento es muy usado por los zapateros, para pegar las plantas de los zapatos. Según he comprobado, pega muy fuerte y si puede ser aplicado en ciertos trabajos de tapicería. Tiene la ventaja que nos permite acomodar las piezas, alinear y luego aplicar el calor y pegar. Es bien difícil despegar, primero se rompe el material que se despega.
      El pegamento amarillo para tapicería es el mas usado y si pega fuerte si le damos su tiempo de secado y no forzamos las piezas a unir.

The current vinyl cover is in perfect condition as well. Thanks in advance for any tips.

    Does heating up the leather makes it soft to apply on the edges or corners? I want to do this job. Excellent job 👍

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  3 года назад +4

      Heat (hot air, vapor, etc.) does not soften the leather material. It only helps to erase wrinkles and give shape to molded parts, because the leather shrinks with heat. The heat technique works well with vinyl.
      What you first should take into account is to consider the stretchy side of leather:
      ruclips.net/video/dhmCJFpOs_0/видео.html
      If you want to make the leather softer, there are 'softeners' shoemakers use to mold leather: ruclips.net/video/r1X3sSjfgw4/видео.html

      I have used a transparent glue called polyurethane glue. Shoemakers use it a lot for shoes and tennis shoes. For the edges I used the traditional upholstery yellow glue.

      The shoemaker's polyurethane glue should be applied on both surfaces and let it dry for a few minutes. Once it is dry, the pieces can be easily lined up. The 'dry glue' is only activated with some 'heat' (the hot air of hair dryer is useful). The more this glue is dry the better. Some shoemakers say this glue is much stronger if dries from one day to another. I like to use it on areas difficult to handle with the yellow glue.
