I came up with this idea the weirdest way like I had this very very vivid dream about it and I was so upset because I had to wake up to catch the bus for school but as soon as I woke up I like was furiously scribbling down the idea cause I forget things so easily. I still need to write that book haha
I feel like seeking shelter could also be a tension creator, good or bad. if you want romantic elements, close vicinity works well and also if you want angst between a group of characters, keeping people in the same space creates friction.
2:53 I actually had something similar happen for my book that I’m making😊 the city they live in is underground because it used to be in a place where it was always raining, which overtime, caused the city to sink into the ground after the dirt softened into mud and didn’t have the strength to hold it up anymore😊 btw, they named it ‘DemonVille’ bc it was taken over by demons which are basically like the demons from demon slayer only not them lol and the reason they took it over is because it sunk, protecting them from the sun. I hope you like it so far🙂

ana's made some videos on writing self doubt but from one to another my best piece of advice would be to just remember that competitions and contests can be great exercises but shouldn't be taken to heart as evaluation of your work! if you're insecure about your work, the best thing to do is to figure out if its you who doesn't like you're own work or if you're insecure that other's don't! if you think you lack in an area, there are plenty people who you can reach out to to help you improve or just chat with about self doubt (myself included if you need)!
Heyy, it's totally fine if you were last, that doesn't mean you were the worst! After all, someone has to be last. It could be that all the stories were good but they had to pick someone! Always try to keep this or another postive mindset. Like the other commentor @joonnhee said, Ana made such videos, you should defs watch them! And maybe you could ask the jury for advice, since they're the jury they probably have experience. I'm not sure if they will respond, that probably depends on the popularity of the contest. Just keep writing, watch more vids from Ana, I learned a lot from her, keep participating in these contests... You'll see how you get better over time.

Those kind of competitions are usually not fair. The judges all have their own book tastes and opinions. AND dont be surprised if they didnt even bother to read your story (especially if it's a big competition) cuz that's what some competitions do, sadly... There might be other people out there who might fall in love with your writing style! Don't stop writing! THIS RANDOM INTERNET STRANGER IS SUPPORTING YOU!! (Oh, Ive read your other comment so I guess the judge was your teacher? Still, the thing about judges having their own prejudgments and opinions stays.)

I came up with an idea at school today, its abt a (not very experienced) detective who is assigned to investigate the recent murder of a famous popstar. He goes to the place of the murder to investigate, and sees her body on the floor. Then, he hears a voice next to him, and sees the popstar standing there, speaking sarcastically and stuff. Basically, her soul was linked to him (kind of as if he made a pact with a demon, but there was no free will there) hes the only one who can see her and hear her, but she can see and hear everyone else. They decide to investigate her murder together. I wanna do this, but i have no qriting experience. If anyone has any tips on how to improve this prompt or stuff like that, please tell me!! :))
