Why The Miami F1 Grand Prix SUCKS

  • We are back in Miami for the Formula 1 2024 Season and it is still one of the most boring races to watch. Terrible track layout, Garbage race experience. 0 good overtakes and generally just a bad track. Why cant Formula travel to the better american race tracks for formula 1? Like Road America.. Who knows..

I don't like the Miami track for a couple of reasons: Firstly because it's just a boring track with endless paved runoffs, and secondly because it epitomises everything that I (and many others) don't like about the direction F1 is heading in, the fake marina is just the stupidest thing I've ever seen on a track. If F1 was so desperate for a Miami race, why couldn't they spend their money on renovating Homestead Speedway to F! standards instead of building a boring parking lot track?

Life long Floridian and Miami resident here. I agree with just about everything you stated! Been watching formula 1 for over two decades, and this entire "event" is an EMBARASSMENT! The location is awful, the track design is pitiful, and the race itself is BORING!! So many other locations in the US and even Florida would have been WAY better than this ABOMINATION! If F1 wanted a race in Florida the Orlando area would have made more sense with proximity to all the attractions, hotels and much better road access! Disney does NOT own ALL of central Florida as many people would have you believe. There is still PLENTY of real estate up in the central/northern Florida for a quality track. Hell even a few tweaks to the infield road course at Daytona would have made more sense and a portion of the oval incorporated in the track layout would have made for better racing! This turd of track is only a shameless political money grab. I know a few of my coworkers who dropped serious coin on this event, who know NOTHING about F1 or racing for that matter! But that like most Miami residents are the target audience the promoters seek. They are just there for the so called "experience" and to be seen and gawk at a bunch know-nothing vapid celebrities as well as take a bunch of silly selfies and videos , while shouting 'YO CHECK THIS SHIT OUT!" Most of them would not know Max Verstappen from Max Factor! Your points are well stated and i agree with just about everything you said! BTW just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the great work!

It's all about money, the reason why it's in Florida and not at Road America is financial return. We have 4 North American races, Montreal is a classic, Austin & Vegas are decent. I'd be happy with Scrapping both the Miami & Vegas grand prix and bring the races back to actual race circuits. Sepang, Istanbul, hell Watkins Glen would be better if it got some love.

All the US Grand Prix' have been stupid lately. At least COTA is a dedicated circuit, but turning the Vegas strip into an F1 circuit? Honestly, what the hell were they thinking? They keep picking the absolute WORST locations in the country to have the US GP's. I live in the US, and I utterly hate that these US GP's have become all about celebrities and especially Vegas and Miami, where it just becomes like a typical American sporting event. Why the hell does DJ Khaled need to be there (presumably pointing at every car that goes past and saying "anotha' one")? Grand Prix' should not feel like some kind of "Superbowl" for F1.
Road America would be perfect for F1, honestly, and there's plenty of other tracks that could be easily converted for F1 in the US. Hell, just outside of Vegas, there are multiple "private" tracks with massive facilities built in the desert that have been built in the last 10 yrs, most of which are modeled after famous tracks from around the world. There's enough empty space out there that they could build a dedicated F1 circuit instead of being idiots and using downtown Vegas.
Also, of course Lewis is the only one who seems to like these "star studded" events, he seems more concerned about his future as a fashion designer than his F1 career. I know he wants that 8th world championship title, but beyond that, I think he's honestly more concerned about stupid fashion trends than continuing to be a great driver. He's become such a whiner on the track, lately. I know Merc hasn't had their cars in order, but Lewis would rather complain about the issues than try and overcome them lately. It's really upsetting, considering what a down-to-earth guy he was for a huge chunk of his career.

You are so right, one more point Americans want their type of racing if you really watch Indycar of Nascar they are not racing, more like demolition derby. Formula 1 has worked to hard to make the racing safe for drivers and entertaining without crashes. When I watch Nascar and because a race cannot end on a yellow flag some races have taken multiple final laps because of crashes bringing out the yellow. I have yet to watch an American race series that does not rely on multiple crashes to bring in the crowds. F1 is using celebrities to pull in the crowds. Drive to survive has given the American public a tainted look at what an F1 race is about, with clips that have nothing to do with the actual events they are discussing. F1 may have over reached and when American fans watch 90 minutes of good racing without the crashes they likely will focus on CRASHCAR series, that's Indycar and Nascar

All I said was that there too much focus on the event and not on the racing, there is only 1 racing line in sector 1, which Kmag and Logan proved, and that basically all overtakes are on the straights and that the bridge section is a disaster.
The race was good in terms of results, but nothing happened for 57 laps. The only reason you got the Safety Car and a Norris win, was because Max ran over the bollard and caused the Safety Car. Without that, you would see Max win again and the race itself and the result would have been boring.

I live in the states and have been watching F1 since the late 90's and when they went to Nascar style car numbering F1 really hasn't held my interest.
I prefer WEC or Rally at this point.

The United States GP should have been an awesome, glorious track; they have the budget for that and talent for it's design. Why this ain't the case yet, it baffles me.

America gets a lot of slack cause of nascar, but they’ve got a lot of great road tracks, I would love to see road America in f1, incredible circuit
    Also fuck Miami, abysmal circuit

you can't pass there in f1 and the max just pulls away out to a untouchable lead in the first 10 laps and then holds on to it while the other drivers are fighting for 5 place almost a minute behind the leader
take miami away and bring back Indianapolis

Tell me what track in f1 producess great racing or competition. It's not the tracks. It's the cars that are the problem. They're not equal in technology. F1 racing at Road America wouldn't make a difference. The top cars would just pull away. Indycars race on street tracks that only have 1 long straight away, entering turn 1 like St. Pete and Long Beach, but drivers still make passes in other corners and still produce great close racing because the closer the cars are, drivers can apply pressure on other drivers and force them to make mistakes. Until f1 can close the gap between the powerful teams and the rest, f1 will be the same, dominated by powerful, well financed teams. Also, a track that has or lacks character? LOL😂

I agree, the Miami GP is just a visual show for overstimulated Americans who show a confused face every time hearing B-Ball in the team radio. We are in for another snoring contest and we'll be probably awaken by hearing the Netherlands anthem - thankfully the Imola is after.
    .
On the channel's note - it was recommended to me yesterday and it earned an instant sub and like, awesome format, good comments, very good reasoning. I really hope it will go big soon :D

I get what you’re saying but at this point it might be a necessary evil. F1 is trying to pull in the US market, more money for F1 in theory means an overall better racing series. It’s a given these tracks are going to be worse than the already established tracks in Europe and Asia that have had ages to refine them in comparison.

One massive thing you don’t realize with road America like a lot of euros can’t seem to understand is that the track isn’t wide enough, can’t facilitate an F1 race due to the size of coverage, spectators, teams, etc and not to mention it couldn’t pass the FIA saftey regulations for F1 nor F2, the circuit can only go as high as Indycar and F3, both not even close to F1
