If you really stop and think about it, Korn in the early days/years 1997-2000 literally changed people's lives! They captured the young person's emotions and feelings perfectly during those times! Everything about this band is Fucking Amazing! \M/
heavy bass, drum groove, weird guitar noises, they are basically the blueprint for all modern metal, look the band "DarkoUS" theyre basically modern korn, and its just two guys, Tom (vocalist) and Jay (multi intrumentalist he writes all synths, guitars, drums etc), and theyre both from well known bands like chelsea grin, emuure, etc
David was a core part of Korn because his style was so unique, even though Ray is a better drummer David still has that certain energy when drumming in Korn.
Ray is a classic example of over playing. David gave the song groove n flow. Ray has added complexity to the drums but the rest of the band play it the same so it sounds weird.
@@geeber8136 Well said, as a drummer, I always felt that David gave the songs a MUCH better feel than Ray. That being said, I like Ray, he is obviously a much more technical drummer with serious chops, but you are 100%, David was a big part of Korn's groove back in the day. I remember an old friend and a well known Jazz drummer told me back when I first started playing, to play a song well, try to "disappear" and play in the pocket. David was definitely much more of an in-the-pocket drummer.
I absolutely love hearing bands rearrange their songs and totally crushing it. I have watched/listened to Jonathan’s solo Live show singing from Queen of the Damned and it’s out of this world!
@@treos17 something I noticed with any band when the members are late 40's, 50's. The tempo slows down. Eg. Metallica when I seen them, master of puppts slowd down and a few of the other fast tempo songs. Same with Megadeath, Sabbath also Sebastian Bach. I'm almost 50 and guitar riffs I could easily rip out in my 20's I can't play as fast now. Sorry to waffle on. That's just my opinion. I could be wrong.
"to be honest, Silveria got the groove! Ray may be more technical, professional, cooler, better, whatever you call it, but Silveria is the bones of Korn!"
So I have been listening to Korn since probably my Sophomore year of H.S. Learned to play bass because of Fieldy. Here i am age 35 barely realizing that the majority of Fieldy's bass lines are slapped on the E string (tuned down) but he literally only frets F maybe occasionally F# and open E. :(
I don’t know who the drummer is because I don’t follow Korn for a while but I thought his drumming is on point. I’m not sure what people complain about him He’s only human doesn’t need to be perfect it’s just music people!!!
I don't know what some of you are talking about. This past October I went and saw them at the Riviera theater in Chicago. Fucking amazing! Got the life was dead on, literally every song was spot on...Maybe they just don't like Guitard center
This drummer is very talented and gifted. In my opinion, many songs have been conceived with a particular beat, cadence or feeling, and when you replace that performance with an alternative way of playing it, even if it sounds or looks more technical, it just won't do.
I dont like ray's drumming for Korn. He is master at his craft the the drumming of David was perfect. RAy uses to much fills - changes the tracks too much and uses just too much notes. This is a band where both guitars are chaotic and the bass player is not the cleanest on Earth so something has to be simpler. Ray is all over the place and to someone who really knows what Im talking about can tell you the same. Ray is perfect for other djent bands and that sort of music where the drummer is expected to fill everywhere because guitars plays few riffs over and over. This is korn and one secret to their Earthed sound was the simple funky groove of David . GUitars in Korn are chaotic and nor rhythmic - Korn needs simpler drumms. So they have two choices. Either to ask ray to play simpler without the showmanship or get David or someone else who can do it.
Why are people commenting this video from 2013 saying KoRn is shit? I agree this performance wasn't the greatest, but the serenity of suffering is a killer album and they're doing awesome now.
Trying to make an comparative analogy I would say that David Silveria was the Jeff Porcaro for Korn and now Ray Luzier is the Simmon Phillips. The four mentionated drummers are my favorites.
I was trying to learn a solo yesterday using 0.75X speed in the RUclips player. I thought I left it on when I started listening to this live xD. Anyways, I love Korn and even though it has a slower pace, this was a flawless performance. I was thinking that puting the song in 1.25X maybe it's de solution. XD
When this song stuck in your head it never leaves

Never...
It’s because you already, got! The life!
I love the way Fieldy does the Slap in this song
his slap bass is what MAKES Korn tbh
@Jason Knox fieldy doesn't use slap in "EVERY other Korn song"
@Jason Knox no, he doesnt
He is not a bass player
He slaps on every song. New to Korn lol??? Been doing it since '94

Woodstock 99 was the ultimate got the life performance
BRO I AGREE! That one was a banger. Sadly, they have gotten slower every year.. but oh well! People age! Its normal
Just watched that
The change up of the drums with that open high hat and smack on the snare for the outro is orgasmic every time.

Ray is not better. He's filling in
Super power band.. 🤘🤘🤘
@Andrew Hollingshead david was the original drummer. Ray replaced him. All songs sounded better on the concert when david were still drumming.

I miss the old Korn. One of my fave bands.
I am so grateful we have the ability to record these moments , Love Korn's Sound & Style.
You can tell they really want to be there and play that song for the thousandth time
Every year they play this song they play it slower.
When you get older, slowing down isn't a choice.
@@wellmet7407 Seriously.
It's still a badass song

WOW GREAT VOCAL MIX, PROPS TO THE SOUND ENGINEER
Actually even though I didnt like the way they performed this song initially, it has definitely grown on me. Good job fellas!!!
still the coolest mic stand to date.
This band is like fine wine.
Amazing!
*Milk..*
I like. I don't care the energy... i totally love it, means too much for me this song. Thanks Korn for make this master piece.
I want the old Korn back
Love these guys, miss Dave. They'll forever be my late teen memories.
Love you all may GOD continue to bless each and every one of you because of you all many of us GOT the LIFE today
I really love this song, and also I love that "slowly" version. It's really good, and technically it's the same song.
"to be honest, Silveria got the groove! Ray may be more technical, professional, cooler, better, whatever you call it, but Silveria is the bones of Korn!"
Do you even play drums to understand what “got the groove means”?
David silveria was a better fit for Korn but Ray is a better drummer by far
@@christophs82 Who cares David left, Ray is has his own style. He still fits with KORN.
@@manuelmirandawtf8345 David left on his own. He was acting like a whiny little BITCH anyway, Ray is a great fit for KORN.
Ya he boned Korn! History.....
drums are killing this song
*yea, ray sucks..*

He uses the A, not the E. And who cares? It doesn't matter how technical or complex something is; as long as it sounds good, it doesn't matter.
Korn minha adolescência foi essa
Man I love Fieldy playing with that bass! More fun than the originals. Yeah it was slower, but a little funkier.
Sound guys for making these guys sound phenomenal ,off the charts best sound guys ever for guitar center
pretty sure its so exciting to perform this song when you have done it only 3 million times
when Korn comes back with old songs like that, u know is one of best band of the world

awesome band.u know ds band is very unique.they know how to create a nice song and their style i like it

That funky sound! So cool!
I could watch Fieldy playing bass hundreds of times this song. What fucking performance
This would make a great wedding “first dance.”
Not a fan of the BPM - David crushed this. Though, Jonathan’s gotten more melodic over the years.
Korn their from my Hometown of Bakersfield California well Oildale and Rosedale to be exact same stomping grounds as I grew up on I’m 35 now
This drummer is very talented and gifted. In my opinion, many songs have been conceived with a particular beat, cadence or feeling, and when you replace that performance with an alternative way of playing it, even if it sounds or looks more technical, it just won't do.
As always! One of the best!
I love korn
Still rocking it in 2020!
Ray Luzier is an awesome drummer! Good job
yeah he is but he overplayed all the songs
*Wrong twice..*
I've been to Gutair Center in Larual for drum lessons.
Jonathan Davis e banda, são jóias raras. 😍❤💙💚💛💜
Great!thumbs Up from KK Sabah🇲🇾🤘🏼👊🇲🇾🤘🏼
I love Ray Luzier but sometimes it feels lack luster to hear him play old korn songs. But the songs that hes involved those are mind blowing
Love it when the Bakersfield boys do well.
You GO!
it feels like the holes are filled in now. great production...the drums are insane
People thumb this down?
First time I ever heard every lyric and note.....
Ray le da poder a korn se escucha bien Chingon!!!!!! 🤘
AWESOME KoRn 4EveR!!! :)
Beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The slightly slower tempo is DEFINITELY doing it for me! So badass!
Sonido adaptado con voz suave y relajado, x ese paso dl tiempo q al oido todo se aclopa, al fin y al cabo " Got the life"
Hard to believe this was 7 years ago! Time flies so fast
I think Ray played it great but the whole band needs to speed up a lil bit to get the original feel, I think this was too slow.
Wrong... it's the right tempo (speed). 🙄
@@joshuaowens4797 The official music video & the track on the album is 125bpm and this is 116bpm. Are the two originals played too fast?

Super like that. Double thumbs up!

Me gusta el estilo progresivo que le mete Ray a Korn lml
10 out of 10 on drum work
Muito bom.
Ray luzier turned a guitar center performance into damn this guy on drums is pretty good performance
amazing

Really wondering now, why I was such a big fan of this band 20 years ago...
That was our age brother, I too used to like them a lot now I’m not sure except for a few songs lol. Same for Slipknot and all that
i miss the 'rumbadeebow'
and 1.25 'll do just fine 👌🏼
great drums

best performance of "GTL" i've ever heard - including the overproduced nightmare on FTL. i love how it's just a little slower, and more subdued.
Ray Luzier has caused me to like Korn 🤘🏼😎
You are amazing
Even JD has said that he will never never come back.

Ray's playing is amazing and funky as hell on this version!
