I LOST A $460,000 POT TO A RANDOMLY PICKED NUMBER

- In this high stakes poker heads up challenge against Bill Perkins, this was the biggest pot of the day. In fact, it is now the biggest pot in the history of The Lodge live stream. I don't want to talk about this anymore. Just watch the video.

"all of them were calls" - this made me laugh hard. :D Bill has always been the king of the table, he truly is a gentleman as well.
I definitely believe Bill on this too. He's seen Doug do the RNG call/fold and just wanted to give a moment of theater before calling which he knew he was doing anyways. Hilarious
@@stefanfekeci8288 hehe, yea. I wish I could play Bill one day, buy I barely have money to play 1/2 dollar blinds. :D
A gentleman hedge fund manager?
I still have my reserves for Bill as he rolled with Bilzerian for such a long time.
Rule # 3. Never try to bluff a rich 'tard
you're a beast, Doug. Love having you back on the poker scene!
It’s great to see things like this. Love both of these guys.
Easily the most fun HU match I've ever seen, you HAVE to go into detail on the negotiated hands, those were the best!
Absolutely would love Doug's thoughts on the value of the negotiations, who got more value who gave up more valuable info etc. Top tier content.
@@Losevaiper bro he owns a livestream....he isnt doing it for EV, he is doing it to make it entertaining because people would rather watch reality tv rather than actual poker./
Such a brilliant live Doug, would love to see you two go again!
I watched this live and I had a amazing time, one of the most fun headsup I ever watched
Have been watching Doug from way back in the early days. Happy how far you have come bro. You deserve it.. I never comment but always watch and learn and enjoy!!
Really been enjoying the hand breakdowns. The news is funny too but the hand histories have been really good. Thanks laughs.
Im loving these videos! Im glad your back into the swing of things.
This match was fun to watch!! Thanks Doug and Bill!!
This reminded me of Perkins when he was playing on that show;
The Big Game and he would ask random questions to his opponent
on whether if he'd make a big call or not 😂
it's a good way to get in their heads
Yeah, when he asked Hellmuth about whether he thought technology would ultimately save or doom humanity or whatever was one of the best moments on that show.

I've learned a lot about this game from you and I thank you for it has improved my game. Thanks again and stay well. I also love your one on one challenge. Looking forward to your next one and many more. Get some rest you've been working very hard.
Great video really interesting analysis thank you Doug it’s much appreciated
Just watched this on a different channel! Mind blowing, good to hear it from your perspective.
"All of them were calls" Ahahaha
Yeah think a check in there somewhere would have confused the cowboy lol, great humility and professionalism appreciate the channel
He was calling to any number she said, it was just to get in your head
@@berdyderg900 can't watch a video without it being from clickbait?
He wanted an excuse to make a bad call. But sometimes you just gotta ask yourself, " Would I rather call and lose, or would I be ok with folding the winning hand to a bluff?" This question leads to overcalling for people like me who can't handle being bluffed.
It was collusion with the dealer
@berdyderg900 it's not to manipulate you into watching, it's the algorithm which forces creators to use clickbait
Two beasts, both great for poker.
That point about the 2 was super interesting. I'm not an overly serious player, and when I do play, it's largely PLO, so that was super interesting and not something I realized, or really thought about.
Even if you’re a serious player you most likely wouldn’t know either cause these are heads-up ranges. Most people play full ring poker
You won me back...Subscribed, again
Dude Bill is a genius guest. Awesome hand.
Best Sunday I've had in a while. It was phenomenal.
One issue relying on GTO/solver in heads-up is when the solver suggest to randomize at 50%, do you randomize one hand at a time or serially (more or less flip-flopping at least to make sure that opponent does not concludes you are playing 0% or 100% which might lead to insane calls).
I usually use suits to randomize in these situations. If it’s 50/50 then if the first card dealt to me is a spade or club ill take one action and diamonds or hearts for the other action. No one is going to pick up on this but if you want to take it the next step is to change the colors around everyday
Or just look at the second hand on a watch, odds call
Doug says with this hand, you should always call, raise, or fold, or once in a while bet. 😂
So as someone with huge huge aggro, whenever I ever heard the phrase " you are balanced" I knew, 100%, I am getting hero called, and it's a spot where I don't have it as well. Beautiful, really.
Yes agreed. When I heard that in my head it translated to "I think you're bluffing here cause you're capable "
Pick a number, Mumbling in the back, CALL
🤣🤣🤣
I randomly caught this hand live it was pretty great
Ever consider showing the ace of spades especially since its a bluff? And i remeber handz bluffing with the naked ace into Keating but Keating had k2 of spades for 2nd nuts because board wasnt paired?
"all of them were calls" LOLOLOL
Hope to see a recap of all the succession and win/loss once the battling is done
Great analysis but it all goes through the window once you implement Bill's actual 3bet-call 4bet range into your solver (probably looks something like 77+, AT+ with few low suited connectors and zero GTO 3bets such as K6o, T2s etc)
great hand ! what is the end result by the way ?
good vid polk
15:21 handing over 250k when you go all in with your nut-thin
10:28 how is nobody talking about the box of "Nut-Thins" behind Doug as Bill tanks? 😂
Doug's second obvious tell of the session..
both great poker players
Bill is so much fun.. those last 3 seconds where great
12:02 is really important poker advice. Especially with the ace in your hand. Just smash the rest of your stack in the middle lol.
Never works in low/mid stakes
Gotta love how Bill gave himself an out by asking for a number... If it was a bad call and he lost, he could say "I was gonna fold on all numbers but that one... I gave myself a 14.3% chance and with the pot odds I gambled with a 1-7 probability" hahaha I'm gonna use that one!
Honestly he didn't need an out though. Calling was fine there, even if he straight up made the decision himself instead of relying on RNG. He knows Doug can bluff here, so while he could wait for a better spot instead of bluff catching, if he's *always* waiting for a better spot he's going to be exploitable, so sometimes he just has to call with a strong enough bluff catcher.
@@jaxsonbateman exactly! It wasn't a bad call
Im going to start to do this lol
So you opened your own casino just to have enough content for Polker Hands, respect.
kinda works out in doug's favor to have a small loss vs bill here
if he had won super convincingly there would probably be less interest in people taking the 100k heads up offer
but if they feel like it's winnable and this shows it, he can try to claim some buy-ins
Your face when he called!
Hey Doug! Do you think maybe you bet too quickly on the river?
Doug it's been like 8 years, NAME IT POLKER HANDS ALREADY
You're a beast for covering this hand so quickly. I love the way you played it but when a guy is worth a billy or so, tough to get him to fold even when he's supposed to. I admire the heart for trying, though.
To be fair, this isn't a fold 100% of the time. I'm not sure of the split, but Bill has to call here sometimes - he has a hand capable of bluff catching, and if he always waits for a better spot to bluff catch (which is sometimes appropriate when the opponent has polarised themselves by jamming) then he'll likely be exploitable.
@jaxsonbateman these solvers are a joke- unless u are playing a MASSIVE sample size. Point being I think Doug could have outplayed Bill in this match via small ball. Doug has no idea how to play exploitatively, it's like he is a robot. The fact alone that Doug is very capable of bluffing in this spot means no way a multi-millionaire is ever folding in that spot- plus I think Bill got a slight live tell off Doug.
I love heads up poker. Reading my competitors.
Well played by both. Nice analysis. You might want to consider a larger 4bet size 570bb deep. Also, consider exploitatively underbluffing the millionaire.
He underbluffed like crazy in the match.. and his sizing was large enough.. from 9.5 to 32.5 .. absolutely fine..
Also, backseating one of the best HU player of all time (and his team), is not +EV
Doug relies on the solver too much and doesn't play exploitative, it's like he has no idea who his opponent is
@@jimbojones9118 cite some examples bro
@@jimbojones9118He offered the HU match to anyone, you should sit him
This is the beauty of being rich. When you’re not sure just call because you can afford to be wrong 😂
I like seeing the box of "nut-thins" in the background. It's like "yeah, that's what he's got....LOOK AT ME!"
Love ya Doug
“All of them were calls” ha ha😄 doug is so good but can’t bluff Perky! I really Believe Bill was calling he made up his mind on the turn.
Please can you do hand breakdown on the recent Nic Vertuci fold? It's insane. ty
Doug got owned by Bill. Bill is the heads up 🐐
Does anyone know what the final score was? How much did Doug or Bill lose in the HU match?
Doug lost 35k or so
As was posted, Doug down approx 35k, I watched the Lodge post earlier that had the Tally...
He's getting almost 2:1 on the river call, it's a hard call but one you've gotta do =p
I'd like to see a video of Doug and Dnegs breaking down the same hands, curious if they would agree or not on most of the actions.
"pick a number..." xD
I think this was a mistake. I know this is RUclips land and people say things with perfect vision in retrospect but... this guy is a rich fish that realistically has a VERY small chance to beat you heads up. By making a play like this you're giving him a chance to win. Not only that but by doing what rich fish love most. Calling. You could have toned the GTO down and grinded his stack in a much safer manner. There is absolutely no need to balance your range there as he is not remotely close to thinking of the your balance on such a level that such plays are necessary.
He underbluffed like crazy for the whole match.. that spot was fine.. Bill was pretty high up in his range
@@Brazz27 That is a good point in a sense but in a nutshell this is not a regular cash game. One of the best players in the world lost to a donkey. The play was fundamentally sound and theoretically optimal but also unnecesary.
Doug is clearly an amazing player but I feel he is so absorbed by GTO (and rightfully so) that he sometimes "lets" people beat him that otherwise wouldn't be able to.
I guarantee Doug would win at a higher percentage by not ever doing this play in this spot against this opponent. I played headsup professionally as well and this is just your regular donkey. A good player can tone it down a little and beat them nearly always. People far less skilled than Doug can do it.
Funny ending :D
you make it fun thanks.
Doug should have snap responded “you’re fired” 😅
Without the snap or 10 second call, Doug has to feel pretty good... if I was Bill, I'd already have it figured out after the turn if I'd call turn and river vs 2 seemingly bricks... I love Doug's All-In bet on the river, he had to do it.
To be fair, for that much money you really want to go over the situation a few times to make sure you're making a decision you're happy with. If it was a home game without much in the way of stakes? Sure, go with the decision you made on the turn. But when it's a game with a mid 6 figure pot? Yeah, maybe mull it over for a few minutes. :P
What number did the person select?
I was tuned in for a while and there was 250k total on the table. Came back and it was more than doubled. And unfortunately the stream ended right when I came back lol
our hand begins with
Doug my hero.
Got Em!!!!! Doug was easy work!✊🏿
You played it perfectly ,
He almost folded
It sucks that Doug lost, and I would definitely comment if either of them misplayed, but honestly they both played this appropriately with the cards they had. In regards to the final call, Doug is totally right in that in this situation, he kind of has to jam. In Bill's case, both calling and folding are fine plays - either bluff catching now, or waiting for the better spot. Because of that, honestly, leaving it up to RNG is actually fine IMO, and honestly if you're trying to balance yourself you could do worse than letting these decisions be dictated by randomness.
bill is to fucking funny, i died laughing when he said all of them were calls… and i honestly believe him! all love to you doug
This just in: against someone who calls more often than GTO, you can bluff less often than GTO and value-bet more than GTO.
He did, for the whole match.. Doug knows that basic fact, but thanks for your input
The look at crotch technique failed here. Bit late, but its goos to see you back in the yt mix doug🎉
BP is the goat!!
I'm not trying to be rude, genuinely curious. I'm confused by your turn logic with holding the A of spades. You say it's a bet because they can't have nut flush draws, but aren't those hands you want to target? If they have fewer draws, they're more value heavy, right? So should we be using such a large sizing if we are targeting those hands? Why not a smaller sizing for the times we want to keep weak draws or hands in, and we can still overbet rivers when spades come in. You seem to point this same logic out on the river when you talk about what's better for Bill to call with, compare having AJ of diamonds is better than holding AJ with As.
It also just seems weird that A10 has significantly less showdown value in this spot than AK as you stated, that would mean we are trying to push put exactly 2 hands? AJ and AQ?
I'm confused about what Doug said about the 2?
It unblocks his (villain) middling hands? ELI5 pls
Villain will 3bet some hands that fold to a 4bet. Those hands won't contain a 2 because villain won't be 3betting those in the first place. Instead, they will contain a bunch of middling cards (not high like A not low like 2).
He said that the 4better (Doug here) has slightly more 2s in his range bc he would 4bet bluff with some 2s like A2 and K2.. but the 3better won't call a 4bet with any hands containing a 2, so he never has one..
So he's saying that some of the bluffs he had preflop got there on the turn, so his bluffs are even less frequent there
The analysis of QQ being a fold without the spade on the river makes a lot of sense, does the solver agree? Probably not a ton of ranges 400+ BBs deep.
Perkins hat is sick
This is a spot where you need to fold so my bluffs work lol
On river imo you r Polarized to Big flushes and maybe top boat but making this move but i might be wrong
Bill definitely doing RNG with time
I was watching this live sweating I could only imagine being there
Ouch.
I'd love to see where he reads the A-10 tell later.
lol@4betting with K2, only the Solver is doing that Doug. Humans, not so much...
Exactly lol, Perky would never ever put him on a 2
So if your opponent knows you are using gto/solver won’t he know your line taken in this spot gives you about 50% bluff 50% made hand thus making a call a profitable action?
His hand is basically indifferent here I guess, or possibly negative ev due to blocker effects v a balanced opponent.
Yep. Doug doesn't play enough exploitative poker..he's just a solver bot
That would be a snap call for me
I don’t know if anyone else caught it but Doug was doing that live tell thing again. I can’t tell you what it is here, you have to see it for yourself. Bill clearly saw it and had to call.
I honestly think the way Doug was playing with his chips gave some "weak" info to Bill.
Dat dealer's booty tho actually won this hand counting all those 🍟 🍟
Dougie, no! Say it ain’t so
That was fun.
I like doug's reasonings. will usually work with most good players. But the only flaw he had here is that he didn't know his opponent. perkins almost always calls an all in on the river. So it''s easier to stack him than to bluff him.
Lol. Yup.
Bill had the right strategy, talking all the time to move Doug off his game. Funny, creative, making business and trying to extract any kind of expression from Doug. As a guest he is supposed to have a relatively good time... and Doug to talk back while losing the grip of thinking easily
did you scream inside yourself "plzzzzz foooooold"?!?!
He said doesn’t matter the number picked he was calling
Its called a clickbait title.. congrats, you fell for it
I remember the time Doug was eating crab legs at the Bellagio and he had so much butter on his hands and face... A guy recognized him and say "take it easy butter boy" and Doug yells "Shuuuuuut Uuuuup!" And about a half pound of crab leg meat flies out of his mouth... he felt embarrassed and got up to clean it up off the floor and slipped on the butter... his legs went head over heels and he landed flat on his back... he was hurting, he sat up and he looked exactly like Vannessa Selbt after punting $167,000 with a 3 outer on the turn.
What is going on
Say what you want about Doug, but when he goes into Hand Analysis mode there is none better.
Still hoping for a Bromance Reconciliation with Berkey though!
I’m not bluffing all in with that stack against Perkins this dude is gonna call 100% of the time. Take advantage of his calls.
Problem with this hand, bill was tilting and calling a lot of spots he shouldn’t have trying to get back up. So normally Doug taking the bluff line a majority of the time should’ve got a fold, especially with the flush hitting on river. Which makes the line of every number was a call more sensible. He had made some other bad calls earlier but was on the wrong side of those.
I'm seeing the wrong info. According to the cards that are showing Doug won with a flush cause I'm seeing 9 of spades on the river
