    One issue relying on GTO/solver in heads-up is when the solver suggest to randomize at 50%, do you randomize one hand at a time or serially (more or less flip-flopping at least to make sure that opponent does not concludes you are playing 0% or 100% which might lead to insane calls).

    • @justmusic2353
      @justmusic2353 Год назад

      I usually use suits to randomize in these situations. If it’s 50/50 then if the first card dealt to me is a spade or club ill take one action and diamonds or hearts for the other action. No one is going to pick up on this but if you want to take it the next step is to change the colors around everyday

    • @jaxsonbateman
      @jaxsonbateman Год назад +1

      Honestly he didn't need an out though. Calling was fine there, even if he straight up made the decision himself instead of relying on RNG. He knows Doug can bluff here, so while he could wait for a better spot instead of bluff catching, if he's *always* waiting for a better spot he's going to be exploitable, so sometimes he just has to call with a strong enough bluff catcher.

    • @jaxsonbateman
      @jaxsonbateman Год назад +3

      To be fair, this isn't a fold 100% of the time. I'm not sure of the split, but Bill has to call here sometimes - he has a hand capable of bluff catching, and if he always waits for a better spot to bluff catch (which is sometimes appropriate when the opponent has polarised themselves by jamming) then he'll likely be exploitable.

      @jaxsonbateman these solvers are a joke- unless u are playing a MASSIVE sample size. Point being I think Doug could have outplayed Bill in this match via small ball. Doug has no idea how to play exploitatively, it's like he is a robot. I think this was a mistake. I know this is RUclips land and people say things with perfect vision in retrospect but... this guy is a rich fish that realistically has a VERY small chance to beat you heads up. By making a play like this you're giving him a chance to win. Not only that but by doing what rich fish love most. Calling. You could have toned the GTO down and grinded his stack in a much safer manner. There is absolutely no need to balance your range there as he is not remotely close to thinking of the your balance on such a level that such plays are necessary.

      @@Brazz27 That is a good point in a sense but in a nutshell this is not a regular cash game. One of the best players in the world lost to a donkey. The play was fundamentally sound and theoretically optimal but also unnecesary.
      Doug is clearly an amazing player but I feel he is so absorbed by GTO (and rightfully so) that he sometimes "lets" people beat him that otherwise wouldn't be able to.
      I guarantee Doug would win at a higher percentage by not ever doing this play in this spot against this opponent. I played headsup professionally as well and this is just your regular donkey. A good player can tone it down a little and beat them nearly always. People far less skilled than Doug can do it.

    It sucks that Doug lost, and I would definitely comment if either of them misplayed, but honestly they both played this appropriately with the cards they had. In regards to the final call, Doug is totally right in that in this situation, he kind of has to jam. In Bill's case, both calling and folding are fine plays - either bluff catching now, or waiting for the better spot. Because of that, honestly, leaving it up to RNG is actually fine IMO, and honestly if you're trying to balance yourself you could do worse than letting these decisions be dictated by randomness.

    I'm not trying to be rude, genuinely curious. I'm confused by your turn logic with holding the A of spades. You say it's a bet because they can't have nut flush draws, but aren't those hands you want to target? If they have fewer draws, they're more value heavy, right? So should we be using such a large sizing if we are targeting those hands? Why not a smaller sizing for the times we want to keep weak draws or hands in, and we can still overbet rivers when spades come in. You seem to point this same logic out on the river when you talk about what's better for Bill to call with, compare having AJ of diamonds is better than holding AJ with As.
    It also just seems weird that A10 has significantly less showdown value in this spot than AK as you stated, that would mean we are trying to push put exactly 2 hands? AJ and AQ?

    • @qtamomusic7620
      @qtamomusic7620 Год назад

      Villain will 3bet some hands that fold to a 4bet. Those hands won't contain a 2 because villain won't be 3betting those in the first place. Instead, they will contain a bunch of middling cards (not high like A not low like 2).

    • @Brazz27
      @Brazz27 Год назад

      He said that the 4better (Doug here) has slightly more 2s in his range bc he would 4bet bluff with some 2s like A2 and K2.. but the 3better won't call a 4bet with any hands containing a 2, so he never has one..
      So he's saying that some of the bluffs he had preflop got there on the turn, so his bluffs are even less frequent there

    I don’t know if anyone else caught it but Doug was doing that live tell thing again. I can’t tell you what it is here, you have to see it for yourself. Bill clearly saw it and had to call.

      I honestly think the way Doug was playing with his chips gave some "weak" info to Bill.

    I like doug's reasonings. will usually work with most good players. But the only flaw he had here is that he didn't know his opponent. perkins almost always calls an all in on the river. So it''s easier to stack him than to bluff him.

    Bill had the right strategy, talking all the time to move Doug off his game. Funny, creative, making business and trying to extract any kind of expression from Doug. As a guest he is supposed to have a relatively good time... and Doug to talk back while losing the grip of thinking easily

    I remember the time Doug was eating crab legs at the Bellagio and he had so much butter on his hands and face... A guy recognized him and say "take it easy butter boy" and Doug yells "Shuuuuuut Uuuuup!" And about a half pound of crab leg meat flies out of his mouth... he felt embarrassed and got up to clean it up off the floor and slipped on the butter... his legs went head over heels and he landed flat on his back... he was hurting, he sat up and he looked exactly like Vannessa Selbt after punting $167,000 with a 3 outer on the turn.

    Say what you want about Doug, but when he goes into Hand Analysis mode there is none better.
    Still hoping for a Bromance Reconciliation with Berkey though!

    I’m not bluffing all in with that stack against Perkins this dude is gonna call 100% of the time. Take advantage of his calls.

    Problem with this hand, bill was tilting and calling a lot of spots he shouldn’t have trying to get back up. So normally Doug taking the bluff line a majority of the time should’ve got a fold, especially with the flush hitting on river. Which makes the line of every number was a call more sensible. He had made some other bad calls earlier but was on the wrong side of those.

    I'm seeing the wrong info. According to the cards that are showing Doug won with a flush cause I'm seeing 9 of spades on the river
