I loved the video. I can't believe I watched the entire thing. I lived in Charlotte in the 90's and a lot has changed. The city has grown but its still Charlotte.

The Earl Village that is in this video is unrecognizable from what it looked like in the late 80's and into the 90's. That use to be a dangerous place to live and commute through. It went down when crack cocaine raised it's ugly head. I had the best of two cities and then a very rural area outside of Charlotte named Burnsville. My dear cousin Steve McLurkin and his brother Wayne were natives of Charlotte and I was from Jersey City NJ. I visited Charlotte and the rural area where I live now every summer until my cousin Steve was accidentally killed in his own yard. Broke my heart and it happened on my birthday. But they lived in West Charlotte off Beatties Ford Rd directly across from Johnson C Smith University. We had a BALL back in the 60's and 70's at a place called the "Bullpen". There was an active town maniac named "The Dome" that when you saw him coming you ran in the opposite direction. Much like a TV character Omar Little from the HBO series "The Wire". Everybody called it a day when the Dome showed up. However I like your video about Charlotte. There are too many videos showing the negative side of this wonderful city and not many lifting the positive aspects of Charlotte. I can tell a lot of wonderful experiences I had as a teenager in Charlotte. My first taste of Pizza Hut was in Charlotte and we did not get one in New Jersey for years after they were established. My first plane ride was to Charlotte. Now you need GPS to find your gate. lol Once I retired I left Jersey for the rural area that the family owned from slavery time right outside of Charlotte. My mother of who just passed in April of 2023 at 102 years old and my Dad had sense enough not to sell their rural property when they migrated to Jersey in the 40's during Jim Crow days. I kept her at home for all of her elderly days. She was able to still have Charlotte when she wanted some city excitement and then head down 218 to Burnsville where there is no red light. If you are at the red light then you are not in Burnsville. Keep lifting Charlotte and bless you for feeding the homeless.

My city. Born and raised here. Early 80's baby! I miss the Charlotte where the neighborhoods were how they were now gone, how downtown was, which was always something on any block, with neighborhood Earl Village and others were in downtown. The great restaurants like McDonald's Cafeteria,Simmons,Holly farms and alot more. Charlotte was Charlotte. But yeah. Gentrified the whole city.. A hundred and something people move here a day now. Those few underpasses back in the 80's and 90's and areas really wasn't walked through in them days unless you were looking for trouble/cold cases. Charlotte had alot of those rough areas in them 80's and 90's areas
