Vashti Bunyan and her partner were driving to Scotland from London in a horse drawn wagon when she composed this album so it’s very genuine in a natural and sublime way based on sense,emotion,and experience.

I have a story that I made up to go with this song,
Basically, it’s about a poor family (mom, dad, daughter) and the daughter really wants a cat, but her parents think it’d cost too much money to raise one (litter, toys, food, etc) the daughter keeps waiting for one and the seasons pass. One night, the daughter is getting ready for bed and she hears something scratching at the door. She opens it and there’s a kitty cat “on the doorstep waiting to be fed” the parents walk over and look at each other, then nod. She looks up at them, and the picks up the cat. She brings it inside and feeds it.. something. And the cat goes up to bed with her.
