A song for all the ranch kids. Remember your first time driving a tractor solo?
"The John Deere H" is a song off of her 2020 magnum opus 'Prairie Love Letter.' An arrangement of songs about the Northern Plains where she is originally from. This song in particular focuses on her father growing up on a diary farm in the 1950's and getting allowed by his father to drive the family's John Deere tractor for the first time solo.
And now for more exciting news which is Leigh's next record, 'Ain't Through Honky Tonkin' Yet.' The next masterful composition in her oeuvre of work. Pre-orders for this album are available at her website her: www.brennenlei... All vinyls nuts should get to buying it asap.
When Brennen performs, there are two things for certain that will happen. You will fall in love with her art and you will be brought to your feet in acclamation.

It's ridiculous how good she is.
I admire her for her talent and perseverance. She seems to enjoy playing and singing and she's quite an entertainer.
She's the queen at this point
One of the best country songwriters out there for sure!
Great picking, Brennen is such a wonderful artist!
Chords and lyrics below folks
Standard tuning, Capo on 2
Intro G D C G / G D / Em G / C D G
Verse 1 G D C G / G D / Em G / C D / C G / G C / C G / D G
Verses 2-6 G D C G / G C / Em G / C D / C G / G C / C G / D G
Interludes G D C G / G D / Em G / C D G
[Intro]
[Verse 1]
I close my eyes and a wide blue sky
Is spreading out before me
And I'm hearing that old engine crank
Again in all its glory
It's a faded memory that I go back to now and then
I'd give my right arm to be on that farm
With the John Deere H again
[Verse 2]
The John Deere H was a row crop tractor
Ours was a '43
And I was still too young to drive
But I knew she was made for me
It would be like heaven to start her up
And till that stubborn ground
I'd climb up on that metal seat
And make up my own tractor sounds
[Interlude]
[Verse 3]
The H was made in a factory
Down in Waterloo
But my dad had got her second hand
From some folks that we knew
She wasn't sleek and she wasn't fast
Took a while to get her going
But she beat a horse and a hand held plow
For cutting hay and hoeing
[Verse 4]
Then to my surprise he said one night
"Boy, it's time you got to learning"
Then he showed me how to check the spark
And set that flywheel turning
I was only eight years old
Had to stand to reach the pedals
But I was so proud you'd have thought
That I'd just won some kind of medal
[Interlude]
[Verse 5]
In the spring she pulled a corn planter
In the newly thawed out ground
And at harvest time she'd help make hay
Before the fields turned brown
She cut alfalfa with a sickle mower
The sweet smell filled the sky
And in dreams at night we'd still be working
The John Deere H and I
[Verse 6]
That old machine was a farm kid's dream
None like her before or after
But we let her go in hopes of knowing
So-called greener pastures
Though I've been around the world
My life's the envy of most men
I'd give my right hand for that piece of land
And the John Deere H again
I'd give my right arm to be on that farm
With the John Deere H again
She’s awesome
PLAY THIS ON THE RADIO!
a-fukn-men
Who listens to the radio? Hahaha and why does everyone want everyone to be rich and famous? Do you like paying large corporations 400 dollars to see Sierra Ferrell or would you rather pay ten and see her with 80 other okies on a dirt floor somewhere in Colorado?
This is A+ song writing with flawless execution
amen
Well said.
To my aunt's memory! She loved to drive the farm tractor. My mom preferred to work the horses... fun memories.

That's some slick guitar playing. Lovely song!
Used to love riding on the back of my papa's Massey Ferguson -- brings back priceless memories. She tells such fantastic stories with her music.
Wonderful, playing picking, singing and song. That guitar intro sounds like an old Johnny popper.
If there's a bad tractor song, by god I ain't heard it.

Amazing!!!❤
This is one of those rare songs you hear that makes you want to give it all up and go back to the dairy farm and play with the cows and spread manure... met the best people in my life while working the shi@%est job, the summer comes and goes but the farm work stays
Helll yeah girl
Reminds me of Billy Strings, John Deer Tractor
This song hits me deep down inside. 🥰
I’m in love with this so many good artists as usual 🫶🏼
Im hooking up my disc staring at the john deere H sitting in my hedgerow and this came on. Weird
yes!!!
Excellent guitar playing!
Maybe I’m crazy but I hear a lot of Norman Blake on that guitar. Very nice.
I've seen her play with Noel Mckay twice now and they're both incredible.
I když anglicky neumím příliš dobře, tak ale hudební sluch mám a musím říct že tahle country písnička byla perfektně zahraná i zazpívaná krásným hlasem. U nás v České republice se hraje country muzika, folk a bluegrass hodně. Zdravím všechny přátele country music a bluegrassu 🤠🔥🎻🪕🇺🇸🤝🇨🇿
