In this clip, Michael Jai White speaks about Todd McFarlane's new "Spawn" concept, which he said many people have asked him about because he played Spawn in the 1997 adaptation. While Michael stated that he hasn't been asked to be in the film, he's not certain that McFarlane's film will ever be made. He explained that Todd is not a writer or director, and Michael thinks it would be really rare for a big studio to give him the millions to make the movie without a track record. "Spawn" wasnt a bad movie at all, i used to watch it all the time as a kid, it was cool to see a comic come into a movie, it was ahead of its time

My uncle took me to watch this at the movies when I was 9 years old, i loved Michael and john leguizamo in this movie, spawn is a classic.

Yes but he & the films actually did make millions net after the cinemas, studio and producer/investors were paid. My understand is M.Night put up most of the $$$ for SPLIT & GLASS. So he and the cast with backend deals walked away with millions of dollars after costs.
Split only cost 9 million and grossed over a hundred million so m night def got paid. Spawn would need to be like a marvel movie to be a block buster IMO so 100-150 million would do it justice

I dont think that one is in every occasion better than the other, take comedy for instance, Foxx would be better suited but for action I'd say Michael. Michael brings up good points. Todd’s skillset isn’t screenwriting or directing. All his comments just don’t sell the movie: you don’t see Spawn that much, dark hard R rated movie with zero humor? No studio is going to hire somebody who’s never directed or written a film to direct this reboot. He needs to hire a screenwriter to help polish the script.

Michael is right in the video. Todd McFarlane is not a film director and probably why the 1st film was different than the HBO series. Todd mentioned he was arguing with the director on which direction to take it with the 1st fim. But I guess Todd needs to learn how to co-direct I guess. 😂
He's so right McFarland needs to get out of his own way and just let someone take over there's so many competent screenwriters and directors they can take this source material and elevate it to something great. The first half of the original spawn movie was probably the best comic book movie I've ever seen. The last half bored me to death. The back story the training should have been more in depth. The old mans back story should have been more talked about as well.
The Occult stuff more prevalent, him being taught more about that. To give a better understanding of the Satanic underworld. Michael Jai White was perfect. Maybe my only critique would be to be more furious not just angry(think HBO punisher). John leguizamo was as well.
I didn't mind Martin Sheen. But I didnt care about his best friends story. It should have been more focused on the fight with Satan and Leguizamo. He should have got his revenge on Sheen quickly then went into the battle with Satan.

Could not agree more AMC theaters might just disappear just like all the other companies that disappeared over 20 years ago a lot has changed due to covid in the film industry and the TV industry are now in competition with the streaming industry. If you're not digitally streaming then you're considered old tech, an old tech is not getting any attention unfortunately.

Michael Jai White is definitely correct about Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane. take the spawn project to either Amazon prime or Netflix or maybe Sony. Make it an ongoing series they'll give him at least one season to start with which is usually what they give everybody and he should have at least six episodes, from there he'll make his money and his investment and return that is the most fiscally and financially Smart Way to handle spawn.
