(BM & LP) Abandoned Railway Long trip on Railcart - Part 1-

- Опубликовано: 16 май 2024
- A hypnotizer 26-mile one-way ride in this video (part 1). by the BLACK MESA & LAKE POWELL RAILROAD. which ceased operation in August 2019. It was a private electrified railroad that operated in northern Arizona, USA within the Navajo Nation, transporting coal 78 miles (126 km) from Peabody Energy's Kayenta Mine near from Kayenta, Arizona, to the Navajo Generation. Powerhouse station in Page, Arizona. It was completely isolated from the national railway network and did not connect with any other railways. The line was built in the early 1970s and was the first railroad electrified at 50,000 volts. On this occasion I was alone, without knowing what I could find, which added more intrigue to this route, but everything went well, except that at some level crossings the ZORRITO RAILCART could not cross it, since the tracks were covered with ground, and it went off the rails, being so light. They were the only inconveniences I had. It was a mesmerizing trip having the welded tracks and concrete sleepers. but a beautiful landscape
I really enjoyed your journey for 1 hour and 25 minutes, I can't wait for part 2, thank you for sharing this fantastic journey
I am editing part 2 that will also include the 360 camera, to give it a change and see how beautiful the landscape is.
Absolutely amazing journey and find!! Thanks for taking us along! You have inspired me to build my own cart and run the abandoned rails!!
Sad the BM&LP was Shut down When the Power Plant in Page Arizona was Shut down And I think the Electric Locomotives Where Scrapped Sad 😔

😥😥😥💘💘💘💘❤️🔥❤️🔥💯💯💯💯
I understand that some BM&LP E60C-2s are still operating on the Deseret Powel railroad but I don't know if it is the entire fleet of the previous railroad

Concrete ties on an abandoned railroad. Really cool
Line still in really good condition
Is perfect!!!
At some stretches I was really expecting a freight train 😂 you never worry?
This is a track speeders dream come true.
@@020Dutchythis one is abandoned, but some have a way you can look and see if the tracks are expecting a train so they don’t hit eachother
Opp😊😊@@archiemoreno
Watching from Florida, what’s the top speed. Great video.
45 mph
I recall that Trains magazine did an article on the BM&LP electric railway back in the 1970s. Had no idea the line had been shut down and abandoned.
Solo trip this time? What a great stretch of track you found! Loved it. Nice road runner spot, too! Speaking of solos, they are impressive! And completely abandoned! Looking forward to Part 2!
9:29 🎶Road Runner, El Zorrito is after you... 🎶
Enjoyed being along for the ride as always, Archie. Hope that flange was an easy repair.
Your not alone, we are with you. like to look with you on the trip, it's so relaxing. thanks.. 9:28 that is a beautiful bird. From Denmark
Thank you !! And you are very right, my audience always accompanies me on my tours. and it will be a pleasure to take you ON THE ZORRITO RAILCART to travel abandoned rails in this beautiful country of the Unites States of America. I'll wait for you! a hug . and greetings from San Bernardino California.
Hello, greetings from Indonesia
coal crusher silo .. Peabody conveyor belt bridge obviously the bridge belt has been removed but if you search it out you can find pics with the conveyor in tact, black mesa mine coal, operated for 46 years, last run late august 2019 .. a restaurant is planned for the top of the silo so it wasn't demolished . . .
It's too bad they haven't incorporated this 26 mile line, into a local transportation hub and built around it, nor found a way to collect tourism dollars with an excursion line.
I would like to do something like that. I am studying it.
Классное путешествие. Спасибо.
You're welcome. Thank.
What I find curious, - this was an electrified railroad, yet there are no remnants of the overhead support bases!
They removed everything!!! They were wooden posts in the ground, without a concrete base
@@archiemorenoAre you from that area? Would like to take that trip!
A Railroad Runner beep beep 😍
Wow. A great trip! The rails and roadbed look in great shape.

Lake Powell! Cool vids guys
Muy buen video che. Espero que estas vias no tengan el mismo fin que las EMRR porque estas estan en perfectas condiciones.
Dios quiera que le den un buen uso . Yo la quiero comprar para hacer recorridos .no me cansaría de andar
Gracias Gracias.watching on big screen, from.New Zealand
Thanks for watching!
Pura sorte não descarrilhou Archie 😅😅😅
The raised rails and sweeping curves remind me of the EMRR only in much better condition. Great video Archie !!
Se agradece portar esa camisa con insignia . Saludo "argento" 😉👍.
Es un orgullo para mi!!!
Wish I was there .I love the railroad.
Perfect weather for a run. The sky was postcard perfect. I am surprised we didn't see cattle. Thanks for sharing an almost perfect run. If it was perfect it would be boring. Loved the end. Big loop to a mysterious location.
I'm very happy that you liked it, the tracks are perfect, up to the sky like a postcard, I tell you that the rails were hypnotizing and made you sleepy or relaxed you a lot, hahahahaha
@@archiemoreno You know after the one wheel got a little messed up, it was making a clacking noise...Almost like a real old train would make going down the tracks.
Why are there so many abandoned railway lines in that part of the world?
There are a lot of abandoned mines out there, between the gold rush and the uranium rush there's been a lot of mineral exploration. Most of these railroads were built to carry mining products.
The dry climate also preserves them better than the eastern railroads, making it appear that there are more railroads in the West when actually there are just more surviving railroads. Eastern railroads tend to get buried by plants and soil fairly quickly when left unmaintained.
Love your channel Archie!
Muito bom meu amigo. Até o papa léguas apareceu. BIP BIP! 😂
Magnífico paseo, y espectacular estructura minera, una pena que no se reaproveche en otras cosas útiles!!!, gracias por compartir !!!, Saludos desde San Luis Argentina !!

Big passeio.👍🫱
I bet you get some wicked black widow spiders! 🕷️
Yeeeessss Viva Archie ! From Brazil
Archie did you see any mile posts on the railway. That track is still in great condition.
Very Cool 😎 I'm usually good at finding your route on Google Maps/Satellite View so I can follow along but even close inspection of Keyenta Mine and Page I didn't see any tracks 😞 Heh, I guess I should have watched it first and you show me where you are 😉 I've wondered why you don't carry a small whisk broom and maybe a garden trowel for clearing out a road crossing to make your trip back easier .. is it because that would attract attention to the fact that someone is using the rails?
Looks like they spent some money on the track using concrete sleepers, probably be there for a long time those sleepers are not easily removed without damage, thx 4 the video always nice the outback, B safe
👋👍
Bellissimo viaggio 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great Video! When did you make this trip? I was looking at the line in Google Earth, and it looks like the rails are missing in many areas. Only ties are showing. Is it being removed completely now?
Can you try “Railcart Chasing Metrolink” by using “Mountain Chase” from Horton Hears A Who please? All you have to do is move the Railcart to California.
Great way to relax!!

Hola, atrevidos excursionistas. Estoy deseando vivir otra aventura frente a la pantalla.
Jajajajajaj estoy terminando la parte 2 (la vuelta) que utilizo cámara 360 para darle otro toque de vista
Awesome video. The line is in great condition. You could post a version with music (like the 360 goat canyon video) for rail fans soothing moments!! Thanks again!
On the return of this trip, which would be part two, it is filmed with the 360 camera and the drone and camera from the front to change a little hahaha, greetings!!
Love Arizona born and raised here . This seems interesting to do ! Let’s meet up sometime
Your gonna spoil yourself on such nice track

What's the max speed your cart can go?
Archie did you have gps speed at 11:00. Retired Rio Tinto engineer Australia
Where is this line located at
Hi, why don't you have conical wheels on yout railcart ?
simply because they would have to be made of steel, and they would go through a lot. Mine are made of Kevlar and if they were conical, a groove would be marked on the wheel as it only has one support point; since it is flat, it supports the entire surface on the rail. Greetings and thanks for the tips! I had already studied that. Greetings
@@archiemoreno Oh ok, that makes sense, thanks for the answer 😄
What is the maximum speed that can be achieved with this engine ?
How much is the top speed?
👍👍
Arriba mandale ya ❤❤
Sir please come to India and try Indian Abondoned railway lines and discover new places. We welcome you to India please if if you get chance.
