One extremely important thing to mention is that it has been scientifically proven that as long as pitch stays within +/- 20-25 cents off, human ears will perceive it as correct (therefore it is redundant and impractical to strive for perfect pitch). That being said (this is my personal opinion, not evidence based) in most cases being in the center or up to +25 sounds better than being minus, ESPECIALLY on powerful sustained notes.
So in other words, being sharp is still aurally better than flat since it's less perceptible than being flat? And agreed...like, it' also the human voice. It's affected by so many things on the daily that you can't control. A friend told me once "You're a different singer every day".
My (entirely unsubstantiated) idea about this is that a slightly higher pitch is perceived as "smiling", since a smile will naturally pull the pitch up a bit. And as humans we _like_ smiling, so we're way more forgiving of the slightly higher pitch. We're much less comfortable with people frowning (which seems to bring the pitch down), so we really notice flat tones, as the part of our brain looking to "fix" the situation kicks in. Plausible, do you think?
@@jenniferhiemstra5228 as long as you are not more than 25 cents sharp no one is going to perceive the note as sharp anyway. What it will do however (in my subjective opinion) is add some kind of small feeling of “tension” (in a good way) in your high notes if you are going for a loud/belty note.
@@jodysperformancechannel9501 it’s an interesting theory. Who knows...
I’ve noticed that with myself. It sounds like im perfectly hitting the note in my head , but I’ve noticed that it’s better to sing a bit higher . Think of it as a safety net
i was actually so so shocked when i took the tone deaf test because i wad 99.99999 percent sure i was tone deaf or at least slightly tone deaf but in the end i got 35/36 and i am actually so so happy. your video really helped and i think im already singing better!!
See?! So many people assume that. I love hearing your results! Day made!
You ladies just stole my heart. I agree fully with all you say!!!❤ keep up the good work. Blessings.
"I was a pitchy fool" took me out 😂
I love Nikki's attitude at the beginning. 💅
Ladies, thank you for this. I’m just starting out on my singing journey and this video was perfect.
Awesome! We love hearing that!
Thank you so much! I'm definitely downloading these apps ! Great tutorial!
Great video!!! 💖
you are so right
I should work on my art, but let me first try to tame my voice XD Enjoying your content ♥
Can you provide links of two apps l am searching but didn't find second app
My final score was 88%- it said “congratulations you are not tone deaf” I am glad 😊
I got 12/12 for all categroies on the test. I know, I can hear pitch quite well but still once I'm recording and then coming to listen over my phone I don't sound really on pitch even tho when I record and listen over my headphones everything sounds right. so I've come to his video really doubting myself if I'm just not that good with hearing pitch. Y'all guys reasssured me I got to work on it differently than my first approach thanks for that !
I’m so glad this helped you. You should check out the Sing Smarter Suite of my app. I have a mini course called Pitch Perfect to help specifically in this area. You can join using this link: tara-simon-studios.mn.co/
Well I’m definitely glad I’m not tone deaf that is a relief
Coach Nikki was able to hit the G4 more accurately than the piano was.
My piano teacher says, "perfect practice makes perfect"
There was a girl on Britain's Got Talent, Bo Dermot, who you should watch, Ms. Tara! She sang, "Defying Gravity". She was great! Also, Giorgia Borg. She also was on Britain's Got Talent. She sang an original song.. Bo was 12 when she was on and Giorgia was 10. Oh! And Connie Talbot. She was on Britain's Got Talent when she was 6 years old and then came back and sang when she was 16 or 18 or something. She sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" a capella at age 6 and sang an original when she returned. And Janet Devlin. She's from N. Ireland (I didn't understand the town's name, and my mom's from N. Ireland and she couldn't understand it either.) My mom thought she wasn't a very good singer, but the judges went crazy for her, so it would be interesting to see your reaction to her technique etc. And, just for fun, you should watch Willie Jones' X-Factor audition. (I spend hours watching these videos)
Would you recommend another voice app other than this on iOS? It can only go to C2 and it confuses me when I try to sing a bit lower than that.
❤❤❤
What are android version alternatives of these apps 🙏
can you send me the Google play link for the apps
You should react to Ben Howard. He’s more of a musician than vocalist but I think you’d love his music
Singing is also a physical feeling
Can you please do a video about engaging your core when singing? More specifically what muscles you’re engaging and how exhaling as you sing should feel in general. I swear I’ve watched so many videos and I have never exhaled in so many different ways before 😭 I’m so scared to damage my voice from improper engagement, I literally only trust you.
Thank u for the trust. That means a lot ❤️ Be sure to check out my tutorials where I talk about proper breathing in quite a few of them. Here’s one u might find helpful ruclips.net/video/RTrBEilyWpo/видео.html
@@Tarasimonstudios Thanks so much that video really helped. Those planks are a killer! 😆
In case you worry that singing is 90% mental, 90% of the other stuff we do is also mental.
I called it ear training cause that's what I need
Also I can't find Pitch Tuner and Metronome it's not on play store 😭
Tara please react to dimash’s Almaty concert olimpico and stranger 🙏🏼 btw great video !!
I have a few voice students who struggle with even coming close to matching pitch. They might not be technically tone deaf, but often are as much as a third higher or lower. Sometimes, when I demonstrate by sliding up or down from where they are to the actual pitch, they might just stay on the same note they were on or even adjust in the wrong direction, getting even further off. I’m going to try one of the visual tools, but something tells me that even seeing it won’t help. I hope I’m wrong. Any other ideas, Tara and Nicky?
Pick a note. Sing the note whilst playing the matching note on piano. Keep the note, then abruptly change to an off key note. Get them to tell you when you went off. It's a start to train their ears.
@@Poopsplainingpolitics Thanks. I have one of those students today. I’ll try it.
Apps
Tone deaf
Pitch tuner and metronome
+tarasimonstudio *Thanks for the pointers - ye could help Claire at* +WoodshedTheory *sing her intro on pitch!* I've an arrangement _à capella_ to typeset in musescore 4.
In your case study, is it also for beginner singers?
Yes it’s for all singing levels
I downloaded that pitch toner cause I feel I am always flat. According to that app I hit every single note, in my very limited range, center green. Are you sure that app works cause I think I sound like a dying animal? Evidently I only sing on pitch when I have a note for reference, without it - NOPE!
No videos are showing at then to click on
Tha app is not working
Pls react to Jaklin Tarakchi - Je suis malade The voice Bulgaria
It is such a pity that I can be on pitch, but God decided I must have the worst ever vocal tone. No matter if I nail pitch, nobody, including myself, wants to hear my voice. It is hopeless.
I am not a believer in hopeless. God gave you a unique voice perfectly designed for you. With the right coaching, we can help you find your own style that brings out the best in your voice
@@Tarasimonstudios ❤
If it works for people , great, I would have just sounded worse. Relaxing however, so that I'm not tense and squeezing my voice, That helps. But everyone is different I guess.
mi ya mi ya mo
Calibrate your voice to sing majorly on pitch
i can't find the app :(
you probably have an android. just get another one made for android.
React Gabriel Henrique I want to know what love is in car
I've been taking voice lessons and I used to be good. Now I feel like I'm struggling. Is that normal
Sounds like you need to try a new vocal coach. Email info@tarasimonstudios.com and let us help you get moving forward again.
@@Tarasimonstudios thanks for the reply. Ive emailed you. Looking forward to hearing from you all
