Toru did get her a gift in the manga. It was a ring. It happened to fit Izumi’s finger as well; they wear the same size😏; but he couldn’t get it back off, so Izumi went and got a matching one for her and said it was from Toru.
In the manga, one of the subplots is that Yuki (Hori's friend) gets a glimpse of Miyamura and Hori outside of school. She doesn't recognize Miyamura and when she asks Hori about him, Hori lies and says that he's her cousin. Sure enough, Yuki ends up having a crush on the "mystery dude".
