Why do think that 80% of our population is so backward that they need free ration and other things from government, if only nehru focused Improving HDI, Urban Plannnng , Education , Economy of India , India would be on par with China.I'm not pro bjp or pro modi , but nehru and congress party actions have destroyed india.I despise and Loathe Congress because their politician still have no vision for india.

    Another point is that especially in current times, the whole democratic process is reduced to voting. Whereas, voting is only the bare minimum in a democracy. What happens between two voting cycles is far far more important than voting itself. If the citizens do not have agency beyond the voting process, the democracy is not functioning at all.

    There are very definite reasons why avowedly Communist regime, especially USSR, was considered a success in the 50s. There had been 3 or 4 economic "styles" in vogue those days - 1. Colonialism -- we know how it ended for the major colonialist nations after second world war; 2. Monarchies -- With the proliferation of democracy and a spate of freedom movements, this was already a much diluted version of the 18th century idea of the King being the supreme authority; 3. Fascism - well Germany lost the war, didn't they?; 4. Free-market economy -- there was the great depression, then there were two wars one before and one after, the picture was rather bleak and other than US, which was insulated for being the other side of the Atlantic, there were no such story to look at; 5. State controlled Communist - Russia did industrialize rapidly through the 30s, it was mostly untouched by the Great Depression and eventually it was Russia that claimed to have marched into Germany. So if you go back to 1950s, USSR was a success story, acceptable to the third world countries because they didn't colonize any of them, and recognized by Western Europe because they did come out of the War more unharmed than the rest of Europe. If you are a PM in India, in 1953, and looked at examples of successful economic principles that you want your nascent economy to be modelled on, USSR and the soviets will be a natural first choice. Obviously you didn't have the hindsight of whatever transpired in 1989.

  • @jkolorath
    @jkolorath Месяц назад +3

    As a research Scholar in international relations I have my 2rupees to offer😊
    In 1950s, Western powers were seeing substatial economic development in the USSR and were worried about the export of communist ideology to developing countries using that economic appeal. Westerners were afraid that India was on a path to communism due to its socialist economic policies.
    Even the non alignment movement had not picked up pace in 1953. Basically they are trying to woo India to western fold because otherwise in Asia they will not have any allies apart from Pakistan and Japan.

    well its completely my opinion - Britishers oppressed Indians using so call upper castes, that's the reason lower caste Indian didn't feel bad or so offended by Britisher or mughals or other. For Indians it was like it doesn't matter who sits on throne - Brits, Muslims or any other. Upper class to this day is behaving in same manner. and when i say upper caste it includes hindu muslim and Sikhs as well.
    if any one think im smoking then go ahead and checkout the names and castes of people who were recruited by Brits and Muslim.

    Sorry guys, you totally misjudged Nehru. At least on 2 points in my opinion:
    1. That ‘Nehru blurted out the honest statements because TV was a new medium for him.’ I disagree, because Nehru has been as candid in his books and all the writings and speeches. Being candid and honest was his character. Being candid complements his earlier statement that in the PM’s position he has to speak responsibly.
    2. That in his concluding remark ’Nehru didn’t imagine that people would be watching this interview in future.’ This exposes you, that how little you have read about Nehru and how shallow your knowledge is about his wisdom and farsightedness.

The pain of independence still resonates even with my generation being Bengali. Unforgivable statement… I have boycotted her😊. But her boot licking worked. She is in the politics and she gets power. I think she’s quite intelligent.

    • @D.nya_art
      @D.nya_art 2 месяца назад +1

      I used to like her too, i still think her acting is exceptional, i started smelling something fishy about her since Hrithik episode (i just like his dance was never a fan, infact i liked her more, long ago) but after all the photoshopped photos she circulated & bizzar statements she made one after another were very telling of her mental state and then she herself started saying she had love affairs with every star in Bollywood, then some imaginary relationship she had with a foreigner boyfriend which he denied completely, he went on to say he doesn't even know her, many bizzar stories but everything has similar pattern, like stories told by someone with schizophrenia. Then she shows sudden interest in politics & bizzar statements one after other. Lost track of how many lies and contrasting statements she has made, ps*cho behavior, a lost cause, feel sad for her sometimes, but the poison that she spits just doesn't want me to sympathize, she knows the amount of following she has, she knows how toxic & impactful her words are but she never stops, gets worst & worst. Kinda disagree with the comment "I have no responsibility to say the right thing because I'm not an elected representative."
    If there are hundreds of people subscribed to your social media, it is your responsibility to be the voice of the less privileged or marginalized communities on your platform.
    Maybe people individually voice their opinions in their families, workplace etc. But that's the extent of it because they don't have the privilege in terms of their social or economic status. And even the time they have is spent on literally earning "do waqt ka roti".
    I admire all of you who talk about socio-political issues as and when possible, kudos to that. But please keep doing it because not everyone can.

I generally did enjoy it but just found the lack of knowledge about history, communism etc a bit jarring. World war 2 was not about defeating communism. Many nations that adopted Communist principles were forced into dictatorships by constant western meddling and attempts to overthrow. I think you would have done a much much better job by having someone with more knowledge on the 50’s join your panel. Anyway, bash on and more power to you. Tiny shikaqat maaf , I just don’t want our kind of media to become light on facts. We know the free fall that follows.

    How fascinating it is that when a politician tries to get his votes from any member of the poor class, it's called vote bank however when it's Muslims, even 'democratic' comedians call it appeasement. Going to sit this one out, because we have a buffoon from Goa here w us

    Congress has always suppressed independent leadership of Ambedkari politics and want to keep Ambedkari & dalit votes under its control. Not that BJP is not doing that but Congress has been at the Centre for decades. This is why both Congress & BJP are harmful for the country because they don't represent everyone. India will be on its way to progress when independent leadership from marginalised communities are given a chance to come up.

      And it does not count that Dr. Ambedkar was made Law Minister even when he being harshest critic of Congress during the freedom struggle.

      If I had to choose between BJP and Congress, I'd still prefer BJP at the center.

      @@thinkingmonkey1153Ambedkar was made law minister not out of charity, but because he had significant influence on Dalits and Congress wanted their votes.

      Only best option is to leave asap . Common and sober people like us are not allowed in Indian politics , either you have to be a dynast or a hate monger criminal !

    • @VishakhaNS
      @VishakhaNS 2 месяца назад

      @@thinkingmonkey1153 they didn't do Dr Ambedkar a favour by making him law minister. He literally had several degrees including Phd, LLD & Bar-at-law, making him an excellent choice to be law minister. While we are at that, let's not forget how Congress was instrumental in making Dr Ambedkar lost elections after he resigned from Nehru's ministry over Hindu Code Bill by fielding a candidate. So yeah, Congress has been suppressing independent leadership for marginalised communities.
