Oh, so the initial cost of the air compressor, in this case, is $0. I wondered because I’m going to thrift stores with my grandson hoping to find things for him to take apart. Otherwise he and his tool set starts taking things apart that he’s not supposed to. One morning I was out of the room for about 10 minutes. I've gotten these things before, is there any worry that the tank is pressurized, that is full of air? I don't want to mess with that, typically I just want the electric motor. But I end up tossing the entire thing into tin shred, cuz I'm worried some prankster juiced it full of pressurized air, and I don't want it to pop, or anything while I'm trying to get the motor.
One of the brass pieces I removed, the one that had a steel ring on it, that’s a pressure release valve, you just pull on it and it’ll drain all the air or you can open both petcocks, that’ll drain the air as well. Just look at the pressure gauge and it’ll tell you how many psi of air is in the tanks.
