Go homegrown self-made talent! Didn't know Danielle didn't have a coach!! Even more remarkable to reach the finals of a major and really challenge Ash barty world number 1 in that 2nd set!
Even though I was cheering on Ash (as an aussie), you can't help but be impressed by Danielle on and off the court. She's got a new fan in me! Congrats on a great tournament!
Danielle , you are just awesome. The way you came throughout the tournament is amazing and inspirable. Especially your speech in rod laver arena superb.
Wow I certainly learned a lot from Danielle just from this interview! She’s articulate, educated, humble, generous of her time for others, and straightforward. ☺️
Like a completely different person from on the court. Doesn't even look like the same person. I agree that she is articulate and educated, but does not sound humble, that's for sure.
Collins gave everything she had so she should be proud. You learn and grow more when you lose than when you win. Continue to grow and learn and one day you’ll raise that champions cup. Congratulations for a great match.
I know she was 5-1 up in the second set but couldn't serve it out twice. Its where experience comes in at this level. Its her first slam final. She is playing against a world no.1 and her home crowd. It was a new experience for her and Barty was able to capitalise with some brutal shots that Danielle had no answers to. Its part of the game. She didn't choke. She just didn't have that experience to help her out in times like this to finish it off clinically. Still, she should be proud of herself
What does that experience matter when it's likely that she never makes it back to a grand slam final? I'm proud of Danielle for getting this far, and she made our alma mater look good, but you cannot blow a 5-1 lead with a chance to force a 3rd set. Madison Keys blew her chance at a slam as a solid favorite against Sloane Stephens, and she's, consequently, in the same boat that Danielle will soon find herself in. Even if she ended up losing the match, it should have been decided in a final set.
@@RobbieStacks90 you are spot on. She clearly got carried away after 5-1 lead in the second set and played with over confidence under estimating her opponent. It has nothing to do with having experience. It calls for different traits for winning.
@@RobbieStacks90 Anyone who says with such conviction that Danielle isn't going to make another grand slam final, probably never expected her to make it to this final either. And yet, here we are. If Danielle proved anything these last 2 weeks, is that she has the game needed to contend for big titles. This was clear when after her surgery she went on to win 2 tournaments back to back, something that very few players have achieved. Anyone who's been paying attention, knew that it was a matter of time before everything came together for Danielle. This was no fluke. There's no reason why Danielle shouldn't be able to reach another grand slam final, as long as she remains healthy. As for Keys vs Stephens, I don't recall Madison being such a big favorite. Certainly not in the same way that Barty was the overwhelming favorite here. I personally thought that Stephens had a better chance at winning that final, being that Madison tends to hit herself out of the court whenever she gets nervous. Furthermore, I don't really understand the analogy. Madison has never had a high tennis IQ, or a plan B really. When things don't go her way, all she does it hit the ball hard, with no purpose. It's clear that Danielle has a higher tennis IQ than Madison.
@@RaviKumar-iq6nb did you watch this video you're commenting on? Danielle explained (and the live commentators mentioned this during the match), that when she found herself down 1-5, Barty changed her strategy and pushed Danielle behind the baseline. Danielle was having some issues with her back (that's why she didn't sit down during changeovers), and couldn't really hit her shots, from the angles that Barty was creating and being pushed so far back. Kudos to Barty for troubleshooting in real time. I don't think there's a lot more that Danielle could've done.
Danielle, good job. You gave a good account of yourself. If you can increase your court coverage and improve your first serve percentage, you are going to win the US open this year. All the best for a bright 2022.
Stunningly beautiful and effortlessly smooth at giving interviews. If Danielle can win a grand slam or break into the top 5, I can see her becoming the face of women's tennis.
How she dominates her opponents is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training it is just scary!!
Lovely person! I admire her honesty, humility, down to earthiness. She is wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of her on the courts. I wish her well. She is intelligent and articulate. Another genuine sports personality that I support a hundred percent.
My most favourite player! How she dominates is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training it is just scary!!
I wouldn’t say she choked the 2nd set, it’s her first grand slam final and she didn’t have much experience, on top of that, at the end of the day Ash was still a better overall player as of now, so I still have huge respect for Danielle for fighting till the end, hoping to see her compete for grand slams in years to come 👏🏻👏🏻
This woman is the real deal! No show-off, no fake social media shitshows, just pure talent, grit and tenacity! Way to go! I do hope she creates 1 social media account so people could keep up with her and her endeavors, cos I feel like she's got a lot to say - much more than some overly hyped up players with no proper shots developed yet.. Today she fought incredibly well and nearly got the match to a decider, hoping she continues growing from this and is completely healthy and ready to challenge the highly inconsistent upper echelons of the women's tennis, so that she joins Ash at the top! Would be amazing to see.. hell, I would even love to see these two develop a strong rivalry on court, today's final was such a beautiful match even when they were visibly nervous! Imagine if they both play their best tennis with little to no pressure! What electrifying tennis that would be! Maybe we'll get to see it again in Indian Wells-Miami sunshine double? Hope so! Best of luck Dani, work hard and I'm sure you'll win one of these slams in no time! X
Absolutely! My most favourite player ever! How she dominates her opponents is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!!
Well done to Danielle! Excellent result to make it to the final. I thought she had the second set but Barty changed gears and turned the dial up. Plenty of positives for Danielle to take away from this tournament though.
incredible match today danielle! she is so honest, clear and direct in her answers, it's refreshing. she doesn't try to garner media attention like some other players and she is not trying to please everyone.
Danielle! A very intelligent 💡 woman! Clear answers, compassionate, a down to earth person. Got to really love a person who is genuine like Ms. Collins.💯💛🇨🇦

I liked her before and like her even more now. I saw her in Cincinnati last August on Grandstand in an early round match that I believe she retired in due to injury. Looking forward to seeing her go deep in the Western & Southern Open come August 2022. I'm booked for the whole week and am hoping to see her in the final. Count me in Danielle as a big fan...!!!
Congratulations Danielle ! You’ve done very well. She’s the one player I’ve been eyeing on from day one. She has that fire in her gut…and the talent that comes with it. She’ll go a long way winning slams in the future.
The only player in the tournament to break Barty’s serve more than once. The only player to take Barty to a tie-break. Collins is always learning and should be very proud of her achievements this week.
Ash didn't really drop a set in the whole tournament either which is more of a milestone, hopefully she can recuperate the loss and come better prepared for future slams
This young lady has been playing good tennis since she completed college and came on tour. She has always been spirited and speaks very eloquently, yet based on your comments it would appear as if she has just hit the tour. It just goes to show how we are programmed to only see you when you are on top.
Yes! And she dominates her opponents is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!
Very generous and eloquent player. Hope that as she is now top American player, sponsors will be beating their way to her door to support her. Danielle has the mental game, now all she needs is a coach, a travelling physio and an agent. A true Champion with a big tournament win very soon. Good luck Danielle.
I think she’s proven that she doesn’t need any of them at all. The players who have them were absent. It’s a very interesting point she has made here - in the end it is the individual on the court who must execute.
Super proud of this young lady. Congratz Danielle on your efforts & your new ranking. I think others will learn from what you did in that second set because no one pushed Ash as far as you did. Also proud of the crowd for cheering on both players.

Been following Danielle since 2019 when she made It through the AO semis... Checked earlier matches and all her history about having two college degrees, and after that all her struggles with her health... Her first Championships last year and now almost winning AO... Beautiful Queen Danielle is a role model for youth.,.. Keep fighting and enjoy your top 10 status!!
I was really pleased to hear her qualify the earlier remarks on physical limitations by stating that it was 'to be expected when you go this far in a tournament'. I think that Danielle is gifted with great eloquence and clarity of expression, and I hope that we see her making big runs in Slams to come.
Danielle was having back trouble from early in the tournament as is clear in the interview. (Why she never sat on changeovers and why she thanked the physios so profusely in her on court speech) The stress and pressure on her with the home crowd and being in her 1st GS final is huge. Let’s reserve judgement until she’s had a few more GS opportunities. Her game is great for the modern game. She’s a great 🇺🇸 model of guts and effort
Well played Danielle Collins. American tennis has a long proud and brilliant tradition of success in the sport men and women. Hope that continues in players like Danielle Collins and Madison Keys.
Collins had a great tournament and certainly has the game to win a Grand Slam. I think she played better than most people expected. I also think she needs to have a different strategy moving forward. Barty went into the 2nd set trying to be cautious, and I assume she realized that. At 5-1, with Barty on the defense, she chose to be cautious, at times serving at about 130 Km. This is the wrong approach, and it allowed Barty and the crowd to get back into the match. First, you have to assume the worst-case scenario: that you will lose your serve, and be up 5-2. However, losing your serve while staying aggressive is a lot different than losing your serve while being cautious. In my experience, I've found that people are intimidated with a powerful serve, even when it's long - they sense you have no fear. Had she won that 2nd set, the crowd would've been out of it, and Barty would've been a different player. At that point I think she would've had a real shot at this title.
Yes, my most favourite player! How she dominates opponents is amazing! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!
I gave her the most improved player of '21 award. She's the number one player in the US now, seeing how none of the American players out of the top 100 were in the top 10. I wonder, did they ever find her bracelet? Great job, Danielle.
U played great . The fact that you had had been outplayed by smarter 3 times grand champion . If u talking about how u beat her last year in international, She is also a different player now than anyone else . She can beat anyone whoever they may be . Respect to u how you had been discipline yourself and not bashing the rocket like what you were doing in early game . The is Barty’s difference from all the tennis players I have ever watched. Her respect from every single thing .
Yes it is ridiculous!! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!

It's a revelation how nice she really is . It's hard to reconcile the screaming virago on court with this lovely ,well spoken ,gracious young lady . She will be brilliant in media when she eventually leaves her tennis career behind .
Yes, she is simply amazing! And how she dominates opponents! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!
I feel really bad for Danielle as she is a better player than she was able to show today - so many BH errors in the 2nd set when she was up. She absolutely should have won that set and could have won the match
Lovely lady, but such a pity she cannot enjoy and appreciate her huge success right now. She reached a final that other athletes top ranking fought for having a chance to be in and did not succeed, so why the bitterness in her face ? Congrats on making top 10 and for your awesome game in the final!
I was bummed that she didn't win the second set. Big respect for both players just because they play quietly, I hate when women players scream like they are about to lose limbs :D Subtly grunt is fine too but some are making me to mute the TV, anyway, both players are likeable :)
Looking forward to what you will do in your very bright tennis career. It is so difficult to come back from any personal health issue, but you inspired so many fans today with your intense, fierce focus--fantastic attitude!
I think Ash knew that if she didn't win that second set, Danielle would probably have won. Ash would have gotten nervous and tanked. Danielle is fierce and much loved because of that.
She has always been like that at the net after a match. She doesn’t gush. She is straight on. The way she compliments her opponents is that she learns from them. She said that in this interview and that’s what got her to the final. I don’t know if you know anyone with rheumatoid arthritis, but I think this woman manages it very, very well. The handshake says very little about her, really. But what would you know?
@@rosaliewright4226 I know 3 people with rheumatoid arthritis and they have weekly injections and meds. Their handshakes are very firm and professional.
@@rosaliewright4226, I think it says a lot, actually. One has to be gracious in defeat. Danielle's actions and words strangely seem so at odds sometimes, which makes wonder whether her words are genuine. At the handshake, she appears extremely cold, yet in the press conference talks about how much support she's gotten from other players, and how much she appreciates that. Simona Halep once said that when she saw tapes of herself on the court, and how nasty she looked, she didn't recognize herself. I hope that Danielle can eventually become more confident, as in genuinely confident, rather than cocky and arrogant, which unfortunately stems from deep insecurity and fear. Right now, the way I see her act on the court, my impression is that she has no mercy or compassion for anyone, sadly. Then I listen to her speak during the press conference, and...
The crazy thing to me is that I think a healthy Serena could currently beat Ash. I don’t think Serena could last an entire fortnight though as she has aged significantly.
wonder why umpires don't call out the rowdy spectators.. obviously lots of drunks yelling and whistling during key points. it's plain disrespectful to cheer at player's unforced errors. Agree with Daniil M - the level of culture here is way low.. what if the umpire awarded Danielle a point or two just to teach these people a lesson? there's definitely a biased behavior on umpires' part toward the home crowds, the worst being AO and US Open
She's been wonderful, l admire her. The only thing l do not like about is her grotesque gestures when celebrating important points. I know is just her way but l can not stand it
@@AndrzejzBuffalo Not sure who that was, but I'm glad you picked that up too! And glad that this player didn't fall into that trap. Stick to tennis let your game do the Talking.

Ash is awesome....but Collins did an amazing job. Very proud of both!!!
Congrats Ash.. Am so proud of you. You’re the best ever.
Danielle~!! Congratulations on your runner-up at the Australian Open. I continue to support you, who are cool, pretty, and hot.
Great going, wishing all the best for continued success!
Well all I can say is had she clinched that second set... anything could have happened. Got to admire her spirit. I think I am now a fan 🙂
She looks stern and serious at times. But I think she’s a nice and kind person.
She didn’t play a bad match at all. Just that Barty was too good.
you did great!
It's absurd that anyone could doubt Collins. She literally blasts most of her opponents off the court.
Yes it is ridiculous!! Towards the end she completely breaks her opponents physically, mentally emotionally! Look at the sheer power of her arms and her shots! If you see Danielle's strength training routine it is just scary!!
She speaks so well
She has great composure.
You may have lost. But got the privilege of being the opponent of Barty's last match.
Am I the only one noticing how beautiful this woman is !!! Goodness Gracious !!! shes a FOX ....❗😍♥♥♥
Like the Girls Side anyone can win or make a run who would of thought it was Collins,to get to the Final is something 2weeks is satification not many get there.Shes got an amazing 2handed Backhand could be the best going around at the moment and learn from somehow being up 5-1 a double break it can flash by u wonder she deserved and should of won that 2nd Set who knows different ball game
Danielle, I think you are wonderful. Go as you can in tennis and life. We will all enjoy the future!
She is pretty american woman.
American women care too much about looks, it is actually proven. Personality is more important
Very beatiful, very intelligent. She is what tennis need nowadays
🇺🇸
Lovely lady, but such a pity she cannot enjoy and appreciate her huge success right now. She reached a final that other athletes top ranking fought for having a chance to be in and did not succeed, so why the bitterness in her face ? Congrats on making top 10 and for your awesome game in the final!
Honorable Aussie.
I was bummed that she didn't win the second set. Big respect for both players just because they play quietly, I hate when women players scream like they are about to lose limbs :D Subtly grunt is fine too but some are making me to mute the TV, anyway, both players are likeable :)
If Danielle can play that well with her current back problems then imagine how well she can play when she's 100% fit!
i love her eye color
It'll take her a while to get over not taking that second set.
Ikr
LOVE HER
Looking forward to what you will do in your very bright tennis career.
Tell me you didn't watch the Wimbledon Final without actually telling me you didn't watch the Wimbledon Final.
No coach, no sponsors. She seems to be doing things the hard way.
I don't consider borderline abuse from fans "flair" but there u go
I was so uncomfortable hearing them roar when she made errors. She handled it incredibly. So mentally strong!
@@gretchenteel3926 Ikr same
LOVE COLLINS!!!!!
her accent sounds like she's from Wisconsin or somewhere in the Midwest
Shes from Florida
The handshake after her defeat says everything about her...I'm very glad she lost.
yes, shes salty and arrogant , but must admit very preety
@@ALLNAMESAREALLREADYT Nuh, personality is more important than looks, simp
She seems cool
Congratulations Danielle
Womens tennis has fallen unfortunately. The qaulity isnt ther anymore. Barty is number 1 because of it.
The game constantly improves. Every year the players are better than the year before - men and women.
The crazy thing to me is that I think a healthy Serena could currently beat Ash. I don’t think Serena could last an entire fortnight though as she has aged significantly.
콜린스는 뭔가 마블시리즈 영화에 나오는 배우같은 느낌이야ㅋㅋ
No mention of her leading 5-1 and losing. Snorefest of a press conference
She could totally beat snd won second set
Ah, a back issue. That explains why Danielle wasn't ripping her shots like she normally hits...
omg now im a Fan of her😳
and she doesn't have a coach🙆
I have a new found respect for this fine lady.
Who won AO22?
wonder why umpires don't call out the rowdy spectators.. obviously lots of drunks yelling and whistling during key points. it's plain disrespectful to cheer at player's unforced errors. Agree with Daniil M - the level of culture here is way low.. what if the umpire awarded Danielle a point or two just to teach these people a lesson? there's definitely a biased behavior on umpires' part toward the home crowds, the worst being AO and US Open
She must be the happiest GS beaten Finalist lol
She's been wonderful, l admire her. The only thing l do not like about is her grotesque gestures when celebrating important points. I know is just her way but l can not stand it
Wait… does she have a coach??
Danielle Karen Collins
wonder if she'll actually hire a coach. or if she wont do players survive and stay om top coachless
Maybe if she had a coach she would have won
To bad this post conference is edited!🤨 I sure she has learn to serve out and win her serve when it is 5-1; the next time around! 🙃
raducamu, bencic, sakkari now i have a nee girl crush on my list - Danielle collins very classy
LOL, at the SJW around 17:00 tried to get her to answer that she would do that. Glad she didnt take that bait.
Yeah, that was bizarre. Was that the woman from the WTA trying to lead her to an answer she wanted to hear ?
@@AndrzejzBuffalo Not sure who that was, but I'm glad you picked that up too! And glad that this player didn't fall into that trap. Stick to tennis let your game do the Talking.
@@jackwilliams5474, yup, if you rewind, she's announced as "Courtney Nuwen (which is actually Nguyen), WTA." I heard a question from a WTA writer during another press conference as well that seemed leading, as well. Anyway, the answer was good.
@@AndrzejzBuffalo Yes sir, you are correct. Thanks for that!
I'm sorry, I love Danielle but when you're up 5 -1 in a set and can't close it out, you deserve to lose. Maybe if she had a coach, she wouldn't have lost that set.
Possibly being her first GS final also
She attributed it to being injured, saying that her back did not cooperate.
