I saw brody close out the Comedy Store to maybe 10 people in October 2017. He was the google maps guy.....and Ill never forget the laughs he gave me that night. RIP
Brody was 1st introduced to me via Deathsquad podcast at The Ice House, just like some many other comedians including the mommies. He was so untamed to me and kinda gave me anxiety based on his interactions with the other comedians. Slowly I became a fan, and unlike everyone else on these podcast I would repeat his cadence in the real world. No one got it of course, but I hit my friends & family with "Yes, you got it" , "positive energy" and "enjoy it". Such a good man with a great soul, really wish it didn't have to end this way.
I went to a taping of aftermidnight. Brody was the hype man. He was so freaking hilarious, everything was coming a mile a minute. He truly was a talent

I've been a massive fan and consumer of comedy for as long as I can remember. I live on the east coast so I snag tickets to see my favorite comics when I can for those who tour. Back in November of 2017, I had my first chance to visit LA while attending a convention. I was so excited! On top of it being an exciting career changing trip, it was also an opportunity to visit The Comedy Store for the very first time. It felt like I was making my comedy fan pilgrimage. I only had one night I could go and all my local/travelling friends bailed on me. I was so upset that my plans to make the Thursday show were falling apart. I proceeded to get sad and tipsy on hotel wine and said fuck it! Im going anyway! I got dolled up, bought a ticket and called a super expensive uber. The line up for the main room was Chris D'elia, Erik Griffin, Neal Brennan, Nikki Glaser and of course, the beloved Brody Stevens was closing it down. I couldn't have had a better night. They sat me back against the wall on the right, in that little corner. Side story, the staff kept not coming to me for my order ..for like.. 3 or 4 sets but eventually I was able to flag one down. She felt so bad and apparently thought I was a guest with one of the comics so she didn't think I needed to order my minimum. She came back with my drinks and a free cookie. When I got my bill she had given me the 40% comic's discount. I dont know why I was so charmed by this but I even snapped a photo of the bill lol .. Anyways, now that this story has turned into a yelp review of sorts.. the whole show was hilarious and turned my mood around completely. It was so incredibly cool to finally be in this comedy club that I'd heard about a billion times on podcasts. I honestly wouldnt have said the night could get better..but then Brody came out and absolutely killed me! I had been introduced to his work by my ex and we were both in love with his attitude and humor, so I knew what to expect from his legendary late night closing acts but it didnt prepare me for the real thing! Drumming on chairs, periscoping mid act, yelling '818 Till I die', ripping on audience members for crossed arms and preaching positivity! It was like I was watching the 'Best of Brody Stevens' cause he gave us everything and more. After the show he was so nice and let us take photos with him while he STILL streamed live on periscope haha I seriously cherish that night so much. I came away from it being so fucking happy I made my sad ass go alone and experience what turned out to be a once in a lifetime night. Im so happy I got to see the legendary Brody Stevens. Im so sad that it will only just be the one time, but im thankful that I had even that. I don't cry for the deaths of celebrities or personalities really. The only one before Brody would be Anthony Bourdain. Ive been dealing with depression for the first time in my life the past two years..and these two losses frighten me. I hope these losses move people to talk about mental health more, accept that it IS serious and to open up about it and/or help others who are struggling. Sorry this is long..Ive had this on my mind since the other day. I went and found my photos from that night too. Im gunna seriously cherish that night and my photo with Brody. Rest in peace Brody. You made the world a much brighter, funnier place..
Cried tonight remembering brody. Waited this long to grieve for him. Because he meant so much to me even though I only knew him through this medium of podcasting, and his HBO digital show. Just following him through the last ten years of podcasting and comedy made my life. I loved every minute of him. Wished he could have made his impact on America that I thought her could, He really could have been a star
I love you Mommy Jeans. Ur such a sweet lady and u and ur husband make my week so much better. I feel ur pain. U almost made me cry. Just know we are all behind u guys. Stay high and tight. Love y’all.
This was a wonderful tribute, thank you so much for sharing Tom and Christina! Brody was clearly a singularly talented and lovely person and an undeniable positive presence every day of his life, there is no denying that. By consciously choosing to so honestly and openly fight his personal struggle with horrifically deep depression, approaching every day with what seems to have been near boundless compassion, wit, enthusiasm, courage, and of course humor he inspired and helped so many people. It is terribly sad he is gone, but he was and is a hero, and his example lives on in all of the incredible things he did and put out into the world. I know it must be at best a cold comfort to those who knew and loved him, but what a genuinely beautiful, undeniably cool, and truly significant testament and gift he left behind. I'm rambling now, and don't know what else to type, shine on Brody...
February 2018 I attempted suicide and what I was hanging from broke so I survived with minor injuries. After that I was overwhelmed with all of my anxiety, constantly having to resist the urge to kill myself and I listened to Brody saying Push, Positive Energy, etc. it was a small glimmer but it existed. I would listen to clips of him in the car to keep my energy up and get away from those negative thoughts. The medicine he was prescribed is the same one I've been on since my suicide attempt. I'm not fully sure I'll ever be over Brody dying and I only met him twice in Arizona and messaged with him on social media because I was a longtime fan and there wasn't nearly as many clips of him to watch as there is now. February 2019, Brody killed himself and I have cried so much for him because I know how difficult it can be to live through that deep of a depression / mental illness. Hug your family, you don't know when they will be gone.
I saw brody a couple times at the store. I'm from Canada and didn't know him at all the first time I saw him. He had amazing energy and it just goes to show you never know with someone and what they're going through. He was a sweet man and this was a sweet honoring of his memory.
I’m not familiar with Brody but your genuine regard for him made me want to seek him out. Hearing Christina cry made me cry. Thanks for just being honest with your emotions and just good people.
Thank you for making us laugh at the store the night he passed Tom. Brody was such an amazingly sweet and funny guy. It will be hard not seeing him play on stage anymore. Thanks again for talking about him and sharing with us!
I went to the Odd Ball Festival in Salt Lake City Utah. And there was a crazy line up that included Hannibal Buress, Jeff Ross, and Louis CK. But for me the best memory of the show was Brody doing warm up on a separate stage before the show. His energy was just so contagious, and was so entertaining. As he got off stage everyone was yelling: "Enjoy it" "Positive Energy" and all his catch phrases back at him. He seemed so happy that everybody was yelling his catch phrases back at him. I am so glad that I got to witness him doing his thing live.
Much love to Brody from Ireland. The guy was a unique voice in comedy. Positive energy and always made you feel that maybe life isn't totally dog shit after all. Thank you Brody, you're a legend!
That usually happens with other forms of loss too, but its definitely more powerful in a case of suicide. I feel for anyone who has to process that, one love.
That's cause you're selfish like most people. It literally has nothing to do with you. People love to turn someone else's death into something that has to do with them. Thinking that you could've saved them is such an egotistical way of thinking and if you keep going down that road, it'll destroy you.
I remember watching this show where he was telling his story and discussing his problems and it hit so hard the depth of his pain. His passing is so sad for us but we know he is no longer in pain I just wish he could have found some peace in life.
How do 33 people put thumbs down for a tribute podcast to a guy who passed away.....I was a close personal friend to Steven Brody & he was one of the most true and genuine people that you could have ever met....I miss him deeply and still can't believe he is gone....R.I.P. my friend #818tilIdie #ENJOYIT #POSITIVEPUSH
The most important thing said was from Tom, "if you know someone who needs help reach out" Speaking from my pass, I was never in the right headspace to ask for help when my world was storming with my mental illness. The last thing on my mind was helping myself. Harming myself was always to make life easier for people close to me. I still struggle but I got some help. Most important is to reach in to help another if you can and dont stop even if mean just being there without talking. I am so sorry for your loss, world.
Much love to ATC. I've never known the love that I've seen in this current comedy world in any aspect of my life and it's uplifting. After losing my job I suffered some months of depression and all those I thought were friends stopped talking to me and even potential job prospects from close acquaintances disappeared. Considering I lost a friend to suicide I imagine I experienced only a fraction of what he may have gone through. Tom said it perfectly to reach out to your friends because they may not have the capacity to reach out to you, but also don't run from those that make you a little uncomfortable because of their pain. Sometimes nothing can be done, but sometimes it's just sticking around for a minute or two because that could be all they need. Rest in peace Chado, Brody, and all others we have lost to sadness and hopelessness. Love you guys!
I want to give Tom and Christina a hug that I know they would hate.

Even my wife loved Brody. SIMPLE is in our every day vocab because of him
He truly was a beautiful individual. So sorry for your/the worlds loss.
It says a lot about a man who has friends that remember him in this way. Very touching and sweet of you two.
This is my favorite tribute to Brody. I can’t imagine a comic could ask for more than to be remembered by his friends sharing funny stories about them.
Christina crying made me and I’m at work! So sad. He was funny as hell.
This was so sad and beautiful at the same time. He will be dearly and greatly missed. RIP Brody!
Sadly, another amazing person that wasnt truly appreciated by his friends and comedic peers until he was gone. Please make sure and tell everyone important to you that you love them and are there for them. Every person is fighting an internal battle in their mind whether big or small that none of us truly understand. Please always be kind. Much Bless yall. Love ya Brody
Thanks guys, needed to hear this... Brody was the best and luckily I had the chance to tell him a week before... Love you guys. Fan from Spain
We lost a true Original & Comedy Genius. R.I.P.

Man. Just for lack of knowing him I wasn't sad about this until now. This is an amazing remembrance of a friend.
Depression sucks.. Shout out to anyone out there struggling. Stay strong, there are people out there that care about you.
I can tell... enough though Tom is strong and rolls on through this tribute it is making an impact. I'm with you both, mommies. Stay strong. I deal with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Lifelong. You are loved. It doesn't have to end. We ALL will have our time to shine. Stay here.♥️
RIP Brody. Really nice to hear you guys tell some stories about him. Thanks for sharing
I saw brody close out the Comedy Store to maybe 10 people in October 2017.
He was the google maps guy.....and Ill never forget the laughs he gave me that night. RIP
Love you Brody! Enjoy it in heaven brother! Positive push
Nice to hear two friends talk about a friend with so much love and admiration. Brody was an original for sure. God Bless.
I actually haven't seen any of his material, but this video broke my fucking heart. To see my two favorite comedians this saddened, and to know how much he must have been suffering...man...
Thank you so much for this. Ive been thinking of Brody all week and i kinda feel people are avoiding talking about it.
everybody processes different bro
A lot of the responses have been happening a few days later. I’ve seen quite a few. Rogan,Theo, Diaz, Owen & redban have all commented on it...
You can really see the pain on their faces and hear it in their voices. I hope Brodys family is doing well. This was a great little tribute. I'm sure the community is mourning his loss. We'll miss you Brody and thanks for the laughs :(
When someone brings so much joy to the world, and deep inside, is in so much pain.... I love, and wish you strength mommies... Thank you for sharing your experience...😔
A terrible tragedy and loss. Bless you during this very difficult time. Bless his sweet soul.
This was a wonderful way to honor and share the vibrant personality of someone so special. Thank you for introducing this kind man into my life. Rest in Peace kind sir!
I just learned of Brody and I’m an ASU guy. Listened to him a bunch the past 2 weeks. Man, what a talent. Positive energy!! RIP.
POSITIVE ENERGY! Damn Brody we miss you, you broke the mold, broke the machine and fixed a few broken hearts in the process with laughter. The world just aint the same without you. Godspeed good sir!
After the show he was so nice and let us take photos with him while he STILL streamed live on periscope haha
I seriously cherish that night so much.
You made the world a much brighter, funnier place..
sounds like a great night! im jealous
Thank you for typing this. What a night.
brody stevens was funny as hell, i wish he'd done more specials RIP
Love you two! Hope you find some sort of calm through this storm. He will be greatly missed
Rest In Peace Brody. Aww mommy Tina. 😢
You guys are great friends to him.
We enjoyed it. Rest easy Brody.
I wish I'd known him, I could have helped him, such a sad loss May he be in pure peace. RIP Brody. Thank you for remembering him.
A truly tragic loss of life, thank you mommies for honouring his memory.
I love you mommies
Thank you for making us laugh at the store the night he passed Tom. Brody was such an amazingly sweet and funny guy. It will be hard not seeing him play on stage anymore. Thanks again for talking about him and sharing with us!
Although it is a sad situation, its good that there is still happiness in remembering what a great comedian Brody was
People who push the most positivity are a lot of times dealing with the deepest lows.
Been crying at times since I heard the news. This is one of those times. Thanks for doing this, mommies.
This was beautiful. Thank you, Christina and Tom from another old pal. Rich Williams
The brightest lights are always the most tortured. I knew Brodys soul. May he rest in positive energy 🙏
Loved him so much. A true loss to the world. RIP Brody.
RIP, It fucking sucks that Brody is gone. I hope he can somehow get all this love that everyone is putting out.
Much love to Brody from Ireland. The guy was a unique voice in comedy. Positive energy and always made you feel that maybe life isn't totally dog shit after all. Thank you Brody, you're a legend!
Its horrible to have a friend commit suicide you end up replaying every moment you had with them and thinking what could I have done R.I.P Brody
Been there before with suicide's and overdose's .
POWERFUL BRODY STEVENS!! #818ForLife
I remember watching this show where he was telling his story and discussing his problems and it hit so hard the depth of his pain. His passing is so sad for us but we know he is no longer in pain I just wish he could have found some peace in life.
@2:31 “Tom” breaks character and the right corner of his mouth cracks a smile as Christina is talking
Brody really was a rare gem always spreading positivity and love.
Thank you for this. I was so lucky to see him close at the Comedy Store when I went to go see Tom last summer. So amazing.
no words can explain how broken my heart is
same....
He was funny as hell, seemed like a great person. RIP Brody.
Crying at my desk in a cubicle farm. Thanks guys, that was touching and sweet
Thank you so much for this he is such an inspiration for me and so many people ❤️🕊
Was waiting for this. R.I.P Brody.
This was beautiful, mommies. Depression is such a sonovabitch. Rest easy, Brody. Rest easy, Brody's friends.
just missing you brody. love and peace to everyone. Brody forever ❤
dammit mommies, I am so sorry for your loss and this is a sweet tribute.
Much love, no hate!!
