- Here's an update on Franklin's indoor turtle tub, and all of the changes and additions I've made to it! With new stones, bamboo, filters, lighting, and an updated basking spot, I think this enclosure has just about everything my turtle needs. (I still need some live plants though!)

@@beansncornbred2576 well you can get salmonella from turtles; just so long as you don't lick them, and you know wash your hands afterwards properly you should be a-ok.

That tank looks great! To help with the cheesy look, try snipping the bamboo at different heights to add variety to the front. I think after you do that you’ll be very pleased with the look! :)

Franklin’s new enclosure looks absolutely amazing, and I’m sure he loves it! That just you for being a good role model for turtle owners. There are a lot of bad ones on RUclips, and it’s hard to find one that truly has good care.

I am a RES Owner also. I have a 8yr old female named Bella. You REALLY got my attention popping up out of Franklin tank! I noticed on another video, you were holding Franklin up by just the end of his shell with one hand, and he tucked his little front feet in his shell. He obviously trusts you allot. That is awesome!!

I WAS EATING WHEN YOU CAME OUT OF THE POND AT THE BEGINNING AND I CHOKED BECAUSE IT MADE ME LAUGH.
This is genius I took my cousins red eared slider when she went to collage cause they were just gonna put him in my sister's pond and we live in Buffalo it gets cold so I was afraid he would starve and die so I took him and have been trying to figure out a good set up for him ever since his tank is too small he's huge and every decent set up I find is for small turtles I want him to have swimming room but to hopefully not spent $1000 set int it up, so hopefully this is the right ideal for me! Thank you!!

I know it's late, but you should make a shallow water shelf for him. Basically, it's in the water just deep enough to cover his shell then place a hide on half of it. I did that with my turtle and it's single-handedly his favorite place to sleep or hang out if he gets nervous.

Almost any animal can be a beginner animal with proper research and understanding and maybe even working with said animal in the past even if you never personally owned it.

Just learning about turtles now cuz I saved one today (Someone threw it out a window) but my first thought would be make a 2 tiered dock so he can get some shade out of the water or upper level for light and warmth... Maybe he wouldn't want to be basking in the dark tho Nevermind! 😟😁

I LOVE IT. and for all the people saying you'll catch salmonella. well i can say they are all stupid. your more likely to get eaten by a shark than catch salmonella especially since you have been handling your turtle for a long while now, you build certain immunities when handling certain things for long periods of time.

Cool looking upgrade, have you considered adding a piece of slate or other flat rock under the basking spot? It helps with quicker warming when they go to bask and also reflects a little bit of uv to the sides and underneath of their limbs (obviously only at certain angles)
I love how Franklin has a perfectly acceptable ramp but chooses to just plop off the side of the island instead.

I have my rescue turtle maximus in a 100 gallon rubber made stock tank with the same filter. You gave me an idea with the egg crate basking lamp. I did have one mishap when setting up the tank. Some how a siphon drained out 2/3rds of the water, so my turtle room and basement were drenched. The upstairs room is still drying out almost 2 weeks later. I'm pretty sure the carpet is shot. Oh well I wanted to put laminate in anyway.

I'd cover it with water resistant patterned adhesive wall paper, simpler, and the bamboo is kind of weird. Not totally, id say cut it with the tub's height

Love the astroturf bridge! Is it hard to clean? I'm making one out of acrylic, and considered lining it with astroturf, but I also might glue pebbles to it with aquarium-safe silicone. My bridge is going to be steeper than yours, unfortunately, and I don't know if they'll just slide down the fake grass without something to grab onto...
