Ahh, this is my first video I have watched of Franklin. I love his story. Thank you so much for your patience with him. I have a turtle that I rescued and believe me, when I say it's not easy or cheap owning a turtle. I can tell that you have spent a lot of time making him better. You are an truly Angel!!! Franklin is very lucky that you came to his rescue. Thank you! I wish we had more humans like you in this world. God Bless.
Your videos with Franklin are among my favorites. They show how much work it is to properly care for a slider, so hopefully somebody gets the idea! You've also helped spread awareness about rehoming, rehabilitation, and adoption with the little dude's help. Honestly it's rather inspiring. Help's that he's adorable tho.
Franklin is adorable! Didn't realize that a turtle could have so much personality until I watched your channel. Franklin deserves being spoiled after what the poor thing went through with his previous owner.
Hahaha I started to type out a comment about duckweed right when you brought it up! Turtles LOVE duckweed. What about digging? I bet he would have a grand time with skme pebbles and sand to rummage through. He might take a while to get used to it but every aquatic turtle I have cared for loved to turn the dirt all night. Also, shirt idea... A black shirt, with a bunch of white splotches on it, and a very innocent picture of franklin.... huehuehue. Edit: quick note, diet plays as much of a role in shell developmwnt as uvb exposure, just a good thing to keep in mind. Im sure cheerios and leftover ham or whatever did the poor guy no favors lol.
I think everyone likes Franklin because we can totally tell how much you adore him haha Comes and chills on your toes!? C'mon that's gotta be the cutest thing ever a turtle can do.
My black-bellied slider turtles have been with me for 9 years, since they were hatchlings. They are awesome reptiles and make great pets! Considering that I am brazilian and they are native to Brazil, keeping the heating and the humidity at the right levels is very easy. They make great starter pets btw 😃 .
Big 👍! How are you my friend? Been following you for a long time! Franklin, is so cool! What a great story! Glad to see how good he's doing! You probably saved his life! I have two sliders myself that I rescued out of a school! I also have Donny boy, a red foot tortoise that I rescued out of an apartment! I have a lot more animals too but those are my turtles and tortoise story! Love your channel and content! Have a great weekend my friend! Take care and God bless you and the animals! Animal Papa and Junior! 🐾🐢👍❤️🙏
Just wanted to say that it's been really awesome to watch you grow your channel and business ventures. Your videos are always so well produced and edited, regardless of whether you expect them to be seen by 5k or 50k people, and you're one of the very few people on this platform with true integrity. It's always refreshing to see videos from you because you won't sensationalise your content for quick views or put up an act to make things ''more exciting''. Keep up the great work, Alex! I wish I could have your work ethic.. :D
Please don’t feed Franklin kale and spinach! Kale and spinach have oxalis acid which doesn’t allow turtles to absorb calcium! In moderation it is alright, but just be aware of this!
Please do another video of Gobi! I love corn snakes! Also..... I asked for the exact sweatshirt you are wearing for my birthday next week. So excited to wear it. Thanks for the videos!
More Franklin merch! Also wtf, how do people not see he's a red-eared slider?! Yeah the red isn't really visible, but the rest of his patterns and coloring are obvious still. I recognize those just from having one as a kid. C'mon! People man xP
Notification Squad!! Also I love my new hoodie! I got it yesterday. :3 I love how the little gekko is on the sleve. Thank you so much for your content!! ❤💛💚💙💜
Idk if it’s the same with turtles but the metal tanks poison goldfish (rusts over time) the heavy duty plastic ones are non toxic as far as I know (just something to look into
Yeah, forgot to mention it in this video, but I researched a good bit beforehand and the galvanized steel only causes issues with animals with gills. thanks!
A good comment nonetheless, because metal leeching is a real problem! But water for herps is often best dechlorinated anyway, and chlorine is a major reason that metal might leech into water. Same for fish, though many people use glass or acrylic anyway. Plastic us not 100% innocent here either, some plastics can leech pthalates into water which are suspected to disrupt endocrine function, and other substances might leech as well depending on the plastic type (which can be carcinogenic). Just putting it out there so people are thinking about it :)
@@GoHerping some amounts of heat can also allow the galvanization to come off the metal, very useful for alot of projects but the cons of galvanized metals aren't mentioned often
More boa time and highlights ! :) your boa got me into wanting a boa and snake in general. Got my first snake, a western hognose, about a month ago. Lovin it. Your content is great!
Nice video. Can you make more videos with your boa like a care guide or an update on her enclosure or even make a reptile feeding video. Either way keep up the great videos
😆 I just realized I had Cheerios cereal in the cabinet and feed some to my red ear slider she loved them lol 😂 I wanna give them to her as a late night snake I wonder if that’s healthy. She has a great varied diet of super worms 🐛 grapes and turtle pellets. But she won’t eat any leafy veggies none.
I have a RES rescue who has always needed shedding help. She can’t shed her scutes without me helping pop them off and they are very thick. My question is, what causes this problem and what can I do to get her shedding more frequently and independently? She has only had 2 full shell sheds in the 5 years I’ve had her. I want her to be healthy and live a long time!
I remember when I was younger I had 3 turtles and we made them a pond outside, boy not just any pond,we dug out a hummer hole in the dirt, about the size of an 80 gallon -100 gallon tank, put a liner, and filled it with dechlorinated water. They lived happy with koi fish and a lot of gold fish. They had a lamp, night lights, and a fence, but they escaped.Sometimes we found them back in the water magically, like on one special 4th Of July. But they all eventually escaped, and we found there bones dried up.I buried them.😥
Your so lucky you get to stay home to do schooling and stay with your pets! Also how are your parents with your reptiles? My dad likes my pets and my mom doesn’t really care about them?
I got a question, Alex should I get a new RES baby turtle when I move out? (Had them since I was a child, and I have taken good care of them ever since.)
Your story of sleeping on the floor reminds me of when I had a baby Nubian goat who was the runt of triplets and the doe wouldn't take care of him. Had to bottle feed him, but he wouldn't stop screaming once he got attached to me until I climbed down my bunk bed and slept on the floor. So I slept on the floor. And he'd wear diapers, but he's a boy so they didn't really reach his wiener, so I'd wake up and he would have always peed somewhere. Thankfully not on me, though he did somehow crap on my pillow one night. Not fun after the first week. But now he's big and actually won the obstacle course at my county fair.
Ok I have a question. Do you raise reptiles and then sell them? I always see enclosures here and there with reptiles in them that aren't your permanent ones

Kat Mann I definitely wouldn’t recommend pebbles. A lot of times they try to eat it. However, while it’s hard to clean, sand tends to work well.
