I just started Turo a month ago and it's going super well. I don't think I'd ever list a car that cost over $10k on it though. I bought a 2013 Honda Fit and list it for $40 a day and it hasn't had a day off yet. And I actually look forward to smokers, super easy to clean out and I can charge $150 everytime lol
I hope you have a separate insurance policy! Your personal policy excludes using your vehicle as a livery service, and if they do anything illegal or have a wreck, you can be held liable. Talk to an attorney if you're doing stuff like this to make sure you're ok. 😢❤

hey alex, a lot of uber eats drivers will provide something small like wet wipes with a little note “rate me 5 stars!” to ‘farm’ ratings. i’ve heard this technique really does work. i think you might be able to make this work for turo too, maybe you could purchase some cheapy sunglasses in bulk and give a free pair of sunglasses with a small tag that says “please remember to rate me!”. im trying to think of other good driving accessories that could work besides sunglasses. maybe a small keychain? whatever you choose, def buy in bulk online to minimize the cost (idk why im telling you this, you’re the numbers guy hahah)

I had one woman who ran a fleet of cars on turo. She messaged me after my drop off politely to leave her a 5 star review due to that reason. She had a family to feed so I understood. Honestly, I was going to give her 5 stars anyways because it doesn’t hurt not to lol she was an amazing host as well so why not? I washed the car and cleaned the interior better than I got it and filled it up- that’s how great she was!

So I stopped providing them as a default and would only provide if requested about half the time. If you give anyone an inch, they'll want a mile.

I've been a hotel housekeeper for 6 years and will never understand how some people are okay with trashing rooms or just something that isn't theirs. Some people only care about themselves, sadly... Whenever I stay somewhere, I try to make it look just like it did when I arrived or hopefully even better if I have time, but that's just the housekeeper in me.

I see you are in NC also. I was at Tidal Wave Auto Spa and noticed you can purchase unlimited annual car wash passes there. Might be good if you have frequent renters. I would just use the basic wash package. Plus they have the vacums to use no extra charge.
Regarding the no rating equals a bad rating on Turo, perhaps try strategies to encourage them to rate you, such as asking them both verbally when they rent and perhaps a card placed in the car thanking them for choosing to rent with you and a request to leave a rating at conclusion of the rental, and maybe let them know that a no rating is a bad rating. For myself, I probably wouldn't bother leaving a rating, if I didn't know it had a negative consequence for someone. I'm glad you did the right thing, and got the keys back to the renter. These days, it seems that a lot of people would choose not to be nice.
Honestly, I would say 'well I know trash was left in the car and I know where that trash is. Is there a question i can answer?' Any question about what I am going to do about her friend's keys would be answered with 'well I am going to cook and eat a burger.' OR such.

I'm a Turo renter. I always clean the inside of car, sometimes even the outside... (especially if it covered in bugs...) I also gather up anything like cables, tissues, stuff the hosts leaves, and put them in a compartment so I don't forget them.... Sorry about your bad experience.
As a previous turo host... airport renters are the best most respectful renters. If its close to you id strongly reccomend, all the damages weve reported have been locals needing a quick ride and do not care about the car. For refernce we were in charleston sc.
A customer should NEVER leave ANYTHING in your car when they're done. You're not their servant, you're renting your car to them... It should look exactly the same after they're done with it. People are so darn lazy and abusive.

Was too worried about damaging it on the dirt road. Plus returning it clean would've been tough, due to the dirt road. Some people are picky about car washes. I just can't understand how others don't consider the fact that they are "borrowing" someone elses property. Eventually, I ended up buying a Model Y. Ground clearance isn't a problem and the 110v charging is perfectly fine for my needs.

8:35 having real wood get ugly after a few years is crazy. My car is 40 years old and the wood still kinda looks like new. Worse than any other car of the same model because the previous owners neglected the car but still better than the tesla wood... quantity over quality I guess

Set your glovebox to pin to unlock to keep that USB safe
the dashcam USB is in the center console in the original model 3 :/ though this would definitely work on the refresh

(Don’t worry, mine was just as bad). It shouldn’t be so glossy like that. That’s dead skin and other dirt interacting with the leather. It takes a lot of elbow grease to make it like new again, so again, don’t take this the wrong way 🙂

8:35 having real wood get ugly after a few years is crazy. My car is 40 years old and the wood still kinda looks like new. Worse than any other car of the same model because the previous owners neglected the car but still better than the tesla wood... quantity over quality I guess
true. i imagine yours may be polished or stained or something? Tesla decided to just throw a raw piece of wood in lol
@GoHerping it's glazed but cracked in a lot of places and is even missing around the front passenger side air vent but all the wood in the rear still looks new. How hard would it have been for tesla to just glaze the wood or offer something other than wood? After all, the young people that buy teslas hate wood trim because "it looks old"
