I have been watching your youtube vids since your first one. I admit I have not followed every one and missed quite a bit as your first ones were so simple and I was already beyond them. After a long intermission I am now very impressed how your skill level has progressed and the intricacy of your projects has improved. Great videos, clearly presented and continued success to you.
You are amazing! My daughters would really like this channel.
Perfect timing I was going to look for a video on making a shooting board and up pops your video, and it’s multifunctional, I’m all about be able to get more uses out of a tool or jig. You do great videos Tamar.
Awesome! So glad I got this video out in time! Thanks!
I'm getting back into woodworking after many years off , this project is a perfect start , between you and Mr Cosman my hand plane skills are improving daily!
Thank you👍
Awesome to hear!
Wow, this Lady is absolutely awesome in addition to being very informative.
☺️
You can use a sacrificial piece of scrap wood to avoid tear out when something is taller than the stop. I'm loving these jig videos you've been making!
That’s what I ended up doing when I used it for the box! Thanks!
definitely one of the best videos on shooting boards I've ever seen. Love the versatility.
So awesome to hear! Thanks!
The best shooting board video I ever seen. You showed the trick on the board that other videos don't show. The little edge to keep blade out of the board :) thanks again. I will make one and let you know when I pots it on RUclips. For sure the credit will be yours
Awesome
Wouldn't running the blade along the board create that edge in time? Like, with a couple dry runs?
Hi Tamar, I'd seen this video before, and other shooting board videos since, but this is one of the best, esp. with its modularity. Now, after being less than satisfied with the miter joints on the top of a box I'm making, I just watched this 3 more times before making one. Handicapped by not having a table saw, nor the room to add one until a new home is completed in ~ 9 mos., I tried both miter saw and radial arm saw and decided the former was the better choice, leaving the radial arm saw for 90* cuts and dadoes. I still think that was right, but the miters still need a little repair, and doing it w/o a shooting board is guaranteed frustration. I'll appreciate having one jig for multiple applications! You teach so well, even when (or maybe because) you're in the process of earning. 'Tis said the wise one is she/he who knows what she/he doesn't know - I'm getting wiser every day!
So glad you advised to make sure that your plane blade is square to the sole.Too many people forget this step and wonder why they aren't getting it right. Love your videos as always. - Chris
Thanks! Yeah. It’s a pretty important step. Ha
Thank you for this great video. The shooting board had become one of my favorite additions to the shop.
So glad you liked it! Such a nice jig to have
Closing in on 100K subscribers! Thank you sharing this shooting board video....this is now in the cue! Cheers
Awesome! Thanks so much! 🙌🙌
GREAT project. I like any jig that can have multiple uses. Keep'em coming! !! !!!
Thanks so much! I’ll work on it. Ha
You always have great stuff, thanks for sharing.
Awesome Tamar! I really enjoyed your video.
Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Thanks! So glad you liked it
Tamar, I just reviewed this video again and have looked at your plan description and find this shooting board to be just what I need. Thanks for sharing. Felix
Awesome!
I’m a huge fan of both Kazman and Moses, and watched both their videos, but I appreciate how much more explanation you give (and the neat donkey ear attachment which should make boxes much easier) thank you!
Glad you like them!
You do come up with some really fantastic ideas, Tamar. This is an excellent multi-use design. I have no power tools, so would have to do it with hand tools, but having an idea where you simply change the fence to suit your needs, is genius.
Really great video and thanks for adding in the mistakes too, so we can try and avoid them. All the best from the UK.
So glad you like it!
I like the versatility of this style. I'm going to be making one tomorrow! Thanks for the video!
Awesome. Good luck with it!!
Nice video! I like how you point out the mistake and show us what the fix is after. Keep up the great work!!
How to use the tool in the end was the great!!
So glad you liked it! Thanks!
Hahaha! Loved that outro! Another great video Tamar! Thank you for going into detail and sharing your afterthoughts! Was super helpful!
Haha. Thanks! So happy you liked it!
As always, your approach of the problem is remarkable.
You are an amazing person, I love your videos.
You float above the rest.
Thanks, I will not forget my promise.
Willy from Belgium
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that!
Awesome video!!! Thank you for all you effort, I've built your tapering and tenoning jigs and I am so pleased!!! Keep up the great work and congrats on the 100k subscriber mark!!!
That’s so awesome to to hear! Thanks so much!!
Your instructional video is second to none and I have watched many over years on shooting boards.
You have certainly honed your skill set to masterclass.
Thanks so much! So awesome to hear!
This is pretty awesome. It's got everything
Shooting boards are seriously 'next level' tools that will take your beautiful projects to exquisite. Great job!
I hope so! That’s the idea! Thanks so much!
Super
Exactly what I was looking for in terms of planing a mitered edge. Will be working on this tomorrow! Thanks for the video.
Awesome
Great video, thank you for sharing. This looks to be an improvement on my current shooting board (based on a Paul Sellars design). I love that you leave in your mistakes rather than edit them out. Real woodworking. After all we all make mistakes. (Don’t we?)
Thanks! I’ve heard even the pros make mistakes every once in a while 😉
Great video and ideas, love the board. I am just setting up shop again after moving to Scotland and this board will have a place there. Thanks and keep the videos coming!
Awesome!
That is really slick. Great project. You explain everything so well too.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the feedback. It’s hard for me to explain things sometimes. So nice to know I’m doing a good job. Ha
Brilliant! You humble and inspire me. Keep it up!!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it
Brilliant yet again. Thanks
U r really awesome to put other peoples videos on your site I love ur videos thank u for posting so much stuff
I am so going to make something very much like this after watching this video. I have had a shooting board on my to-do list for ages, and this is going to help me get it done. I Love Rob Cosman's videos, and one thing he does is paint the lower edge of the rebate that the plane runs along with CA glue to harden it. That sounds like a good idea to me. Rob also does a totally OTT trick with masking tape to force a slight curve that apparently makes the plane sit flatter on the base, but I think I'll give that step a miss.
Yeah. That seemed a bit much for me. Ha
Nicely done Tamar. I had not considered building one of these until now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Awesome. 🤘🤘🤘
Great job like always. My favorite Channel
Thanks! So much! Really appreciate that!
Great video! You’ve been the shop tool/jig making master of YT recently.
Haha! Thanks so much! I love jigs 😂
Another informative video. I enjoy watching and listening to you.
Glad you liked it!
Love when you say draws and a triangle for a square
Good to you developing new skills. Have fun creating.
Thanks! I love this stuff
Nicely done. Thank you for the inspiration!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, don't sell yourself short on your video production skills, it's very well presented; nice quick pace, clear and well lit, and a good mix of close up versus distance. The best features were; the 15 second starting snippet that outlined where you were going so we could understand the context of everything you were doing, the indepth demonstration at the end, and that you included your mistakes because sometimes we can learn more from mistakes than fluking it and getting it right, but not really knowing how we got it right.
So glad you liked it. Thanks!
I concur, her videos are very addictive. Everything is smooth and even.
I agree. This material is outstandingly clear and to the point. I find it very motivating.
Also, for all its dense information, the presentation has a real human appeal, a kind of calm happiness that helps to carry the narrative.
Great video Tamar, have plans to make one and will encompass the ideas you've shared. Thank you from South Africa
Thanks! That’s awesome to hear!
Lovely... great jig... many thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it
Great video, it makes me want to make a shooting board! I’ve done some boxes lately and I think that miter attachment would really help dial those corners in. Thanks for sharing the paste wax issue. It seemed like a good idea.
Yeah! It was totally helpful with this box I’m building! I really thought he wax would be a good idea. Oh well. Ha thanks!
Nice little jig! I definitely have worship envy! 💚
Thanks! ☺️
This is one of the nicest shooting boards designs I have seen. My hat's off to you. To stabilize your accessories just add a hold down to the board (like on your TS Sled). Also, on the donkey's ear, just clamp a scrap piece the same thickness as your work piece against the fence. BTW, I am impressed with your knowledge of what a donkey's ear is. Your skill set and knowledge base is really grown since I first started watching your channel. Looking forward to more of your great videos
Thanks so Much! Really appreciate that. I will totally clamp on a scrap piece next time
Perfect... beautiful project!! 👍
Thanks!
Brilliant! Thank you Tamar. Well done. Now subscribed. Cheers
Awesome work Tamar, really cool shooting board! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks so much Fred! 🤘🤘
Great video. I had decided to make a shooting board since I have never had complete satisfaction with my joints. This provided some excellent tips. Now for a low profile block plane.
Awesome. It has been getting a ton of use in my shop lately
Love this
Brilliant and versatile shooting board design. Thank you. I need one of these, and making it will be a good project for me.
I love your videos, for very specific reasons: 1. No annoying computer generated distracting music jittering away in the background. So many video makers stick some excuse for music on their video and, as a musician, it's beyond annoying because I can't help listening to the "music". Thank you so much for not using any. 2, You don't waste my time. So many video makers spend up to three minutes telling me what they are going to tell me before they actually get around to telling me it. Fast forwarding through the preamble means I have to guess when they actually start saying something I need to hear. You don't do that. I love the pace you set, and if I need to think about something I can hit pause, or if I think I missed something then, heck, it's a video and I can go back and watch again. 3. You leave in your mistakes, and show how you corrected them. So many video makers pretend that they never make mistakes because they are so awesome, and of course they aren't.
Okay, that's almost enough fanboy gushing at you, but I should add that your narration is very clear and well paced. You have a relaxed, yet high energy, presentation style, and you set a pace that precludes me going to the RUclips settings and running the video at 1.5 speed, which I do with so many other videos. Oh yes, one last thing, I love the efficiency you demonstrate, and the simple little tricks and techniques you show me. You are simply brilliant, and I hope you never run out of subject matter.
Wow. Thank you so much for taking the type to type that all out. I REALLY appreciate it! Glad to know all my hard work and effort isn’t all for naught. Really. Thanks so much
@@3x3CustomTamar No problem. I'm a fast typist. :-)
Another excellent video, thanks Tamar!
Thanks! So glad you like it!
Just now seeing this but this is extremely useful and practical! Thank you!
I hate starting projects and realizing I need a jig that I need to make. Thanks!
Ha. Nice
Thanks. Great video. I'm just re-discovering working with wood, though I do not have a dedicated workshop. I'm enjoying the journey and your video sure helped. I found your video because of Izzy's link. I'm subscribed to both of you. Thanks again.
Awesome! I wasn’t aware of izzys link. Cool!
Great video, thank you!
Never had a problem with your videos and I work in TV lol. I love the fact you are hailing out loads of other woodworkers that I watch. Your jigs are awesome... Looking at the screws in your board has given me ideas for a bench dog shooting board 😎 donkeys ear... No way 😂😂😂 oh and don't be scared of bees... They are lovely 🤗
Haha! Thanks!
Thank you so much for this excellent idea.
Glad you liked it!
I've seen so many videos on making a shooting board, but this is the first one that's made me *really* want to build one. I think I have my next project for the next time I have access to a table saw.
So awesome to hear! Hope that happens soon!
Sem sombras de dúvidas é um ótimo jig mas gostei do martelo.
Another great vid on a very useful jig! Instant save and looking forward making one myself!
Awesome! Glad you liked it!
Your videos are very well done. You speed up where you need to and slow down when we need to see some important information. Great job.
So awesome to hear! Thanks!
Thanks again for sharing your skills
Glad you liked it
yet another perfect solution, thank you.
Glad you like it!
Great design! Thank you.
Thanks so much!
Cool jig - well done.
Thanks so much!
You may be self taught but from someone who is only just getting in to woodworking ….trust me you’re an expert and rather inspirational
👍👍
Awesome. I have 3 separate shooting boards that take up a lot of room in my shop. I think it may be time to revise and adopt this shooting board.
Awesome
Nicely Done!
Thanks!
Simply amazing. Thank’s
Glad you liked it ☺️
Always love your funny little endings!
Haha! I have an irrational fear of bees. 😂😂😂
@@3x3CustomTamar I'm with you about the bees. My wife thinks it's funny as hell when I freak out about a bee.
Don's Woodies ha! I don’t know what it is. But one time I jumped in a pool fully clothed to avoid a bee 😂😂
@@3x3CustomTamar Can't say I did that, but I did whack myself in the face a few times trying to swat at a bee. That's embarrassing. I once had one of those little ground bees (yellowjackets) chase me over 200 feet across my entire yard just to bite me on the face. He was pissed I ran over their nest with a lawnmower.
Parabéns você e muito criativa e inteligente
Love watching your channel is very fun and has nice tips and tricks. greetings from Portugal
Thanks!
Excellent video. I was looking for info on shooting boards so that I could improve on what I made years ago. Other videos have the info but your presentation made the difference. You've convinced me to join skillshare.
Awesome!!! So glad to hear!
After doing some research, this looks like the most versatile design. I like the way you think and I didn't see this anywhere else. I'm going to duplicate this design when I build mine. Thanks so, much!
Awesome to hear
Ah, that is a great shooting board. I somehow didn't realize I could make one with a stop to catch my work table. Thank you for the great insight, awesome videos. 😅
Wonderful work dear
great jig setup
Thanks so much!
Great video, thanks!
Very Interesting Tamar! I enjoy your videos!
Thanks so much! So happy to hear
looks like one of the best shooting board designs out there.
I like the modularity factor. I'm going to make one for myself, with one major extra feature and some customizations
Awesome. Good luck with it!
@@3x3CustomTamar Thanks. The SUPER major feature that I'm going to add is:
- cut 2 inches off the left edge, plant neodymium magnets on both pieces to keep them together
- whenever I'll be board-shooting the long boards, I can then separate the magnets-held left wing, and put it under the other end of the long board, to support it.
And I haven't decided yet, but I think instead of the long slot to achieve the modularity, I might use 3 aluminum dowels. this way all I need in the new attachment, is to drill 3 holes in a straight line (drill press + fence).
Great shooting board!
Thanks!
Very useful your project, thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
Awesome shooting board with accessories. I have been working a lot with hand tools as of late & have put off making one. Now after seeing this it is time to finally make one.
Thank you for the inspiration again. You rocked it as always. Also I am not a fan of bees either ;)
Haha! My fear of bees is totally irrational.... I tried the veritas shooting board at a woodworking show and I just had to make one. Just used it on the box project I’m working on and I’m so happy I did! Good luck with yours!
Awesome!!!
Excellent!,
Awesome Video! You’re doing a great job making some great content and solving some hard problems! There seems to be a space in between the Paul Sellers of the world and the Pocket hole intro DIY that I think you are filling quite nicely! Approachable and quality video!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that! I’m far from an expert like Paul sellers but I know I can’t be only one who’s looking to up their game from pocket holes. I’m glad you guys are enjoying the journey with me!
Great project Tamar 👍
Thanks so much!
Amo seu trabalho, parabéns pelo ótimo projeto. Sucesso pra vc amiga. ❤👍 👍 👍
Thanks
I like your outtakes
Ha. Thanks
Thank you for showing, great video
Glad you liked it
