The beauty to Joel is that he can make anything entertaining. If 10 hours of Desert Bus is fun to watch, then The Witness will be a masterwork of disaster waiting to happen.
This game operates on Joel's level simply for allowing him to draw everywhere and for forcing him to listen to meaningless tape recordings, much like he does to his audience
52:21 I don't know why, but this cracked me up. I'm guessing it's the sheer disconnect between the two that just made it funny to me, and then the completely serious way Joel reads it and then answers it made it even better.
This game is so stupidly genius. There is no way the map was made that way for it to align perfectly in the ending. This is an amazing game. A perfect OIOIOIOIOIOI Joel game.
The Witness is one of the most mentally exhausting games I've ever played (it was especially noticeable because I played it and Baba is You at the same time), you really gotta go through every combination in your mind to solve most of the puzzles. I'm pretty sure if Joel played it, it would be either the most miserable stream ever or rival Desert Bus as the weirdest type of suffering he's gotten addicted to.
@@vodkawhisperer3923I have surpassed you and thought so hard that I don't care to play the game now Pseudo-intellectual tubers can think the rest for me /j

The jokes of "It's not a fur coat, stop dumping paint on it" and "I could tell you were trying to say something about Capitalism" were amazing because they perfectly encapsulate the only thing art students think about, politics.

I remember reading in some fact book I had as a kid that human thumb meat is the most tender and tastes like chicken. It definitely looks like chicken meat.
It's funny because I love the talos principle (the game) and it's kind of indirectly making fun of that too and I love it for it. There was one moment where I spent a full hour on a puzzle with an obvious solution once you know it, and the voicover said something like 'my gardens are free for you to roam wherever you please. The solution may yet come to you, even if you decide to abandon it for now.' IE 'stop wasting your time dumbass'
The tone of the narrator is so dry and the satire so on the nose that I genuinely didn't expect them to slip in a "and the captain of that ship...Albert Einstein," at the end.

Really hope he tries The Witness. Beautiful game and the earlier Puzzles are fun. When you discover a puzzle from later in the game it seems at first to be impossible, then you progress and learn what to do for each symbol. Joel might actually really enjoy it, even as a One-off I hope he plays it.
He will 100% not enjoy The Witness. There is no humor and there is nothing to appreciate, if you can't focus on boring stuff for long periods of time. And the puzzles are super hard for an unprepared player, it's like the final boss of puzzle games
40:15 Joel can't pretend he hadn't already heard the story 2 months ago. He said this as bait to get more info from chat/mods while remaining coy. A boundless accusation, yet what he prompted was too specific. I don't know how to feel about it.
SPOILERSSSS ahead: if you want a more serious approach for this game: Joel has taught me all these years that being "creative" is not a bad thing at all and being "weird" as they say, is also not bad, as long as it's used in a positive manner, to make people around you feel happy, comfortable, etc... and at first, i thought this was gonna be a "serious" game...in fact, it looked like that in the beginning, i REALLY believed it, and i was like "Huh, joel is so freaking creative and random, wow... he might be funny, but he's also an endless source of creativity" and i was looking at him in a very, "artistic" way, as i usually do sometimes. I am also an artist in the musical department, and watching joel has always been an inspiration for me. There's nothing wrong with being weird, that's just how Joel is... some people are more creative than others, i guess... and in a weird way, the ending of this video brought me back to the first time i watched that "Windows XP Destruction" for the first time back in the day... and then i realized how long i've been following this man, and how much of a "creative" inspiration he's been for me as a musician all these years. It might have been a prank for me, but it was a prank that meant a lot more to me than... to most people, i guess hahaha In a very weird way, i am happy to have laughed so hard at the teacher yelling "WHO'S BEEN DRAWING DICKS???" back in the day... love you Joel, never change
The fact that this game takes potshots at not just the usual targets but also at irritating left-wing ideologues, "anti-capitalists", and fedora-tippers makes me smile. I'm sure many chatlets were seething when the game tore down the "Ship Named Religion" analogy.
@@JacobKinsley It's a thought experiment that compares religion to a captain sending a ship out without needed repairs because he has faith it will return this time, since it's returned so many times before. This game flips the script and uses the thought experiment's own logic against it, parodying the idea by citing the ship's successful repeated voyages as empirical evidence, rationally proving that the captain was right. Hilariously, you can't really argue against this interpretation of the experiment without also undermining the original as you do it.
