  • It’s the middle of the year, but several new laws or their provisions take effect in California on July 1.
Most new state laws go into effect on January 1, but the Legislature sometimes designates some laws or certain provisions of these to go into effect in the middle of the year, or even immediately upon the signature of the governor.
KTLA's John Fenoglio reports on July 1, 2023.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

I can't tell you how many renters we have that say, I'm going on a vacation can I be late for my rent this month? Okay sure. Fine. Pay middle of the month because up to a point they pay on time. Once we give an inch -- they end up making up excuses here and there and we have the lowest rent in our area. It's the culture of not knowing how to manage money.

Depends if he’s working 40 hrs a week or less? Housing/apartments cost about $2,500 a mo for a 1 bedroom. Gas in CA is about .80 cents a gallon more than other states because of taxes. Food is expensive. PGE/water/garbage/Internet has all gone up. Then we have to pay all different insurances (car, medical, etc). Maybe the person doesn’t know how to budget. For single people, one wage earner, people with kids it’s tough. We used to say if your making less than $80,000 a yr in CA, you’re not making much.

@@bayareagrl4ever526 True. I would think $80,000 a year in some areas of California with a family keeps you living close to poverty. My friend in Burbank says gas by him is over $5.00 a gallon. I live in Florida and it's $3.29 by me. I know there's other states where it's cheaper.

Or you could do gardening, or maintain pools or things most people just don't want to do....or anything to help general society in any way. If I get hired to work in Walmart's pharmacy, I'll be making $18.50 just to start, which is a liveable wage in Michigan and Florida. I'll visit Californiastan only once, but after that, I won't come back to Californiastan because of how stupid the Democrats have made things over there.

That’s good news about criminal records being sealed. I work in legal and know people, who were first time offenders, who committed white collar crimes, did their time (long sentence for 1st time offender), completed parole, went back to work and after ten years had past from committing the crime, was fired when the employer found out they had a record (because some vicious person called the employer to tell), If you want people to stay out of prison, give them a chance to work without the fear of employers firing them for old convictions.

This is something that many here don't seem to think about. The law protects citizens who are good and have done their time for past crimes, from being discriminated against in the present for their past. These people who criticize are under the opinion that criminals are always criminals, and can never reform; that this makes them permanently lesser than those who were never charged with a crime. And that's a discriminatory, plus anti-Christian, mentality.

That’s 9900 bucks for the six months and with a 660 credit score requirement you can just live somewhere cheaper and for a year save that 9900 and literally buy a house.
