I love it when I meet composers increasing my expectations of what a real masterpiece should be like. Thanks, Uncle Roudders.

And yet here is another reason why I have grown to love the calm and beauty in John Rutter's work. Thank you.

In 1980-ish, my church choir (actually, two- middle/high school and adult choirs) had "Lord, Make Me..." in rehearsal for the upcoming season. We (the HS choir) had done several Rutter pieces already and a couple of carol adaptations. Somehow, our Director, the indescribable Frank A. Heller III managed to get John Rutter himself to come to our church in Louisville, KY. to conduct an evening of music. He could not have been more gracious and professional. An absolutely transcendent experience.

Does your pastor, Frank Heller, have a son, Phil, who is now a minister? Did that son go to Kentucky Christian College (now University)?

@@crazya222 Frank was the Music Director. He had a couple of children, no idea of their names or history. They were babies when I last worked with Frank almost 40 years ago.

2021 Xmas 22: Easter is coming. The pandemic is weakened. Ukrainians are bombed daily. Putin is mad. We have felt a lot since December 25th. These five settings will reorganize us and make us whole.

Peaceful, unobtrusive and, yet, highly listenable. I particularly like "Blow, blow, thou winter wind"....almost like a tender moment in a film soundtrack.

Morning Max. As you know, I sometimes procrastinate as to whether to publish selected uploads. If you have a chance, I would be interested if you think many of the subscribers would enjoy this : ruclips.net/video/n-hSK0lImVc/видео.html

Rodders, Evening, you Yuletide Messenger! Speaking for myself, yes! I suppose the overall response you get depends on the number of "folk" orientated listeners out there. Maddy Prior, I would think, is reasonably well-known.

Rodders, I'm a little surprised that there haven't been many comments on the Yule uploads. I suppose folks are busy at this time of year!

Max, there have never been a big number of commenters here (quality rather than quantity!) Also, within YT, my channel would be akin to a grain of sand on a beach. If I was uploading visual videos, the number of comments would be tenfold.

The second piece is remarkably similar to the music from The Eiger Sanction composed by John Williams. Which came first.....?

Thankfully Rutter has avoided the influences of that Second Viennese School (Schoenberg, Webern, and atonalism).
