John Rutter - Suite Antique in A minor for flute, harpsichord, and strings 1. - Prelude (A minor): 0:00 2. - Ostinato (A major): 3:25 3. - Aria (E minor): 5:10 4. - Waltz (G major): 8:28 5. - Chanson (E major): 11:30 6. - Rondeau (A minor): 14:52
This song has so much character, it felt familiar to me the first time I heard it. Every movement has a really distinct feel, but they keep a consistent motif. Very well written piece.
I have always been deeply moved by John Rutters liturgical and folk inspired music. This album is no exception, it resonates in my heart. Thank You, Frederick "Rik" Spector
Increíble música.Preciosa.Bellisima.Escuchar algo que es del siglo pasado y parece que estuviéramos en.el1700.Grandioso.Gracias. Desde Argentina te lo agradecemos. Increíble John Ritter!!!!!!
8:22 Listening to the Waltz from this suite makes me so happy ☺ Hope I can someday play that beautiful part on the flute! Too bad it's just so hard haha!
Lovely stuff! The harpsichord has always appealed to me: its elegance and clarity are wonderful. I Iiked its use in popular music as well (the 1960s US group, The Left Banke, spring to mind). "Waltz" has a Dave Brubeck feel about it....
We do not forsake the assembling any longer, we greet each other with a holy kiss..we give good hugs..we live in community and share with one another. We look out for one another. We sit down at table with one another and have a Babette's Feast, or maybe luncheon or beautiful high tea setting, but most of all we genuinely love (action word) HIM together as we are ENGAGED in loving one snother..all the while laughing, smiling and encouraging one another. There will be more than seven SUNDAY HOUSE sites ...we will Acts 2:37-47..We will have CIRCUIT RIDERS again making SURE CONNECTIONS i.e. Ephesians 4...especially 16...We will be CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH...living in HARMONY with each other...RICH, DEEP, SINCERE RELATIONSHIPS.. MuseDuCafe , Bear in mind that the piece you refer to as "insipid" is part of a Light Music playlist. It's not meant to be earth-shatteringly profound but it can still give many listeners pleasure as, indeed, can a Disney score, I suppose. But you are entitled to your opinion, tersely and dismissively expressed though it might be...
Highly underrated piece. Should absolutly have more attention and be played more oftan, Wonderful and captivating music.

Da Capo, the second album by Love (1967), also features a lot of harpsichord.
For eternity ...
This piece reminds me of listening to Fresh Aire. Marvelous.
Yummy! This stuff is what I live for!
Me encanta esta versión que dirige el mismo compositor!
I played this for contest and I qualified for state with this
Brilliant.
Bravo bravissimo
I bottled out of my grade 6 flute exam because I could not handle the high flute notes - beautiful piece though!
Played Chanson for my Grade 5 flute exam... still waiting for a grade

Did you pass?
WOWWWWWWWWW
Reminds me of a French composer of light music called Saint-Preux
Concert pour une voix
Who’s the flutist ?
Andrew Nicholson. He was principal with the Halle Orchestra before going to the Royal Philharmonic. He is now with West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
Not really keen on the piece, but when it is played like this.....

The second movement is like a pastoral version of Michel Legrand
!!
So funny...that Waltz sounds like '70s elevator music!
Sounds as insipid as a Disney film score....
