Day 2 of my landscape photography trip, day 1 on the beautiful Isle of Harris. It was a rough day, I was tired and feeling unwell, but for now the weather held. I exposed 2 images on this day, the first of which I am more happy with than the second. Enjoy.

If you made t shirts with your face and your catchphrase "absolutely stunning" I'd totally buy one.
"fantastic"
Even "lovely"!
Square space 😜
This is what it's all about.
Stunnin rather than stunning
As much as I love your photography Thomas, I have to say that your filmmaking ability is top notch and getting even better all the time - and you're doing it without a film crew or a helicopter.
That's very kind, thank you.
Absolutely
my thoughts at the opening sequence
I've heard my name pronounced far worse than that :-)
Excellent video as always! Thank you for making our Wednesdays great :-)
you are helping rekindle a love for photography which was beginning to fade. excellent work Tom!
That's what it's all about, thanks for letting me know.
thank you for your helpful videos I am new to photography and want to learn to take striking photos Xx
Just go to nice places, simple eh.
Nice message in your video Tom. The one other thing I would like to say is that "don't litter". I am sure all of us have seen rubbish in the remotest places... it breaks my heart. I recently spoke to a photographer who consciously carries a bag with him and keeps space for bringing back rubbish that he finds on the sites he visits. Lovely video... I love the first shot.
It’s amazing what dehydration and lack of sleep can do to your state of mind. But despite all that, you persevered and continued your pursuit for an image. The images you managed to capture here are wonderful. The first shot was stunning with so many interesting elements, I imagine many photographers would have passed by this and not seen it’s potential. Wonderful work!
Thanks a lot, Andrew. I was so exhausted by the end. Next time I wil be sure to take on more water and more sleep.
Thomas Heaton should have slept in your tent.
This is so kind of you, thinking of next photographers don't ruining their future shots. So simple but it's great to hear it from you. I hope everybody notices that and keeps it in mind. Not only because of footprints in the sand, also not leaving trash in the landscape, breaking trees and branches, stepping on wild plants, ... 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic Tom! Beautiful mages... You have definitely helped me with my own photography, as a beginner composition is always overlooked. You have shown that we must not always just capture the first thing we see but look for the best and most unforgettable ways of looking at the scene. Thank you Tom!
I have enjoyed an evening of watching several of your videos and have found them incredibly inspirational. You have a great eye for the beauty of nature, a terrific personality and a wonderful way with words. And that is to say nothing about your photographic skills, which are exceptional. Thank you for sharing your passion for landscape photography with the rest of us Thomas in this way that really brings the wonder of it all home and makes us want to brave the elements, get out there and capture some stunning images ourselves.
I love watching you work. The passion you have for what you do is quite evident! Very inspiring indeed!
The first thing you said in this video about inspiration hit home for me. I live in the states, in the midwest , and when I look at my surroundings, I don't see anything worth taking a photo of , let alone having enough interesting stuff to make a video and posting it. I have plans to go to a couple of local places but when you look at what you and so many other landscape photographers post it seems futile to try it. You all have great skills which you have developed over time, with experience, effort, and talent. You guys make it seem so easy to do and for someone like me who wants to start out it sometimes feels like I will never get to a point I will be even close to producing anything like the quality what you and others like you have achieved. Sorry for the rant but your video really hit a part of me that I need to work on. Thanks for the video and all the hard work you do! I have a long journey ahead and I need to get off my butt and get out there and shoot. Thank you, and keep doing what you do, you are a inspiration for many people who would love to follow in your footsteps!
I always learn so much from your videos. Thanks so much for sharing your settings (not many people do that and it's so helpful to we who are in a learning curve!) and your thought process. I look forward to each of you videos and come away inspired!
Mr Heaton - you did a podcast with "the candid frame" a while back... the only thing i remember is the host remarking how much your vibe gets people excited about taking pictures... i have to say i cant agree more - totally bosch. Thanks for sharing, tom
what a fantastic video. loved it. you talking about inspiration for what to shoot.
That is the reason for so many people watching your Vlogs. ... you are the inspiration for people to WANT to become Landscape Photographers. you are so passionate about what you do, rubs off onto your viewers. Thanks Thom for another great video. Looking forward to seeing the next one.
You've got me thinking about composition so much more in my photos! I love your approach to photography and your work is stunning
I love the way you produce your content. The look, the edit and the music and the way you use B roll, ranks in the top of all the RUclips I watch. Which is a lot in the last 2 years recovering from 2 knee ops with lots of bed time and not much else. I'd love to see a video covering your non photo kit photo tips. Like the CD trick for beaches, or a shower cap over filters to stop spray, that kinda thing.
That's very kind, thnk you and I will bare in mind your video suggestion.
Good job Thomas. Love the image and the two filter/bracket solution. As others have said, the video is first class. Thanks as always for showing your work and process. Best, Bob
Wow Thomas, I think these are some of my favourite shots of yours, Keep up the awesome work and continue to inspire others to find a love in photography just like yourself, always love to watch your videos portraying your honest and insightful opinion on landscape photography. Keep it up,
Great film. Love living in Scotland and Harris is a place I have yet to visit. Taking up photography has given me the reason to go out and explore more and already visited so many amazing places I wouldnt have otherwise.
Nice video Thomas! I really like the quiet atmosphere of this one and your pictures are again very beautiful! Keep on doing stuff like this, I'm always happy when I get a message that you uploaded a new video!
Thanks Thomas. Great as always!! And thanks for the suggested video this week. Sean Tuckers video was also very nice.
Your videos are always pleasant to watch, and your results are excellent. Thanks, Thomas!
Two truly wonderful images from a lovely location. Thank you Thomas.
Love your enthusiasm, and the tidbits of photography philosophy! Keep them coming!
Thomas, as usual you have created a video with excellent images and still shots. I have been struggling lately with scene composition but after watching your Vlog today I am rejuvenated and more inspired to get out in our high desert and canyons of southern Idaho to get that great shot. . . From a landscape photography hobbyist. . . Thanks again for your work.
You made tonight's insomnia less bad! Seriously, so good to watch this, Thomas. Inspiring us to push ourselves more with real honesty to boot. Thanks.
Absolutely stunning first image, love the contrast of the white sand and the blue sky. As always Thomas, you've done it again 👍👍
That last image is "Absolutely Stunning" One of your very best! Great video again! Thanks!
This is great advice about not ruining the scene with your footsteps for both yourself and other photographers. I honestly haven't given it much thought until this video. Thanks!
that looked good as a b&w. things always change. not always for the best. what a nice place for a deep sunset
Hey, greetings from Germany and the highest respect for your work and the effort you're putting in creating the beautiful images. Thank you so much for sharing your photographs with the world
Stunning as usual,in every part of the world you go,love your sensational mood to teach your passion!Thank you for your channel all the best from Italy!
You videos are like little miniature spiritual trips to the deeper side of photography. What you describe is what I feel when I'm completely alone and far away from anyone, shooting an incredibly lit scene of a huge space. Thanks, Thomas!
another great video and stunning photos. looking forward to next one already!
Great. Always waiting for your videos. Good luck to you and all the best .
That was a great video Thomas! Those two black and white pictures at the end of the episode were worth that wait, even though you were not feeling that well! Good luck with your future photos and traveling!
The cinematography in theses videos just keeps getting better and better. nice work!
That is a bangin image at the end! I love the markings in the sand as well as the spiral shape of the dune! Don't second guess it-- it's simply lovely!! The seclusion on that beach looks like paradise!
Your videos are so well crafted. Makes me realised how far I have to come in filming and editing.
Thanks for your contagious passion and motivation! Keep up the good work.
Love a Wednesday, you blog has inspired me to get into the Scottish hills more and with every shot I am seeing a difference in how I set up and even got off auto mode and shoot in manual. 😀 another great Vlog
As always brilliant, since being a small child and first hearing of the place the Isle of Harris has been on my bucket list.
I am overwhelmed just looking at the scene in your video. I will be completely at a loss what to shoot and what not to shoot. i might probably sit at the edge of the water soaking my feet and soaking in the turquoise colour of the water. Thanks for a lovely video. Its how I can travel the world, through your lens.
I will be following in your footsteps Thomas in just two weeks So looking forward to my Harris and Lewis trip and if my images are half as good as yours it will be a result 👍🏻 great inspiration and I've added extra bottled water to my list !
Hey, I am sure you will have a great time. It's a beautiful place.
Another masterful video and fabulous image! Well done Thomas!
Thank you Thomas for encouraging other photographers to be courteous and respectful. Sadly, I run into so many who have no respect for the land and other people who want to enjoy the same beauty in nature. Please continue to set a good example. Cheers!
Great stuff again, Thomas. Going to Harris at the end of May with the family. One of my favourite places on Earth. Can't wait!
I love your videos, it essentially captures the reason I went into photography as a hobby. travel, see the beauty of nature and capture beautiful sceneries. I don't care to make money out of it, nor do I plan to but your videos capture the other side of 9 to 5. job. just ordered a tripod, and Lee filter system for tamron 15-30mm.
Amazing place, like a heaven, as you sai. I really like the calm atmosphere in this video, too. You might not got the images you came there for but the second image is still very, VERY interesting. Excellent work as always. Thanks for doing it for us.
Beautiful place and your images are gorgeous! The black & whites are my favs! Thanks for sharing ;)
That's very kind, thank you.
Great video as always; full of enthusiasm for the wildness of our landscape!
Wonderful video, one of the best so far. Each one is a exquisite delicacy for the senses. They transmit me peace, happiness and inspiration. Keep it up.
Yes you are spot on. We have to just get out there and look for experiences to record on a camera of some sort to share (in my case) or just for the sake of getting out and about. I am totally in love with CalMac whether on foot, with my bicycle or (very occasionally) with my car. It gave my heart a lift just hearing the safety advice on the tannoy!
you are a true wizz at photography and you have the eye needed to create the most amazing compositions , such a jem on a youtube channel
Such an inspiring video! Your skills are really amazing....thanks for sharing all of this with us.
It looks epic there, great vid as always, keep them coming Thomas, looking forward to next one. I've learned a lot from you and its beginning to show in my shots, thanks dude.
I like your channel a lot ,because its making me really happy when I watch your videos, thank you so much for making this channel
Highly underated, really enjoy these videos. They aren't childish, full of memes or screaming. I can sit down, chill out and just watch a proper programme.
Another great video. Quality content as ever, Mr Heaton. That final shot was awesome too.
How many people would walk right past that first shot and not see the composition, you got a good eye Tom. Thanks for sharing it
Paused at 2:00. This screams production value. I can tell that you love what you do because this video shouts about it. Brilliant work Tom, keep it up 👍
love the atmosphere of the location, truly inspirational, awesome video!
Thanks for sharing Tom, that was inspirational! I'll be heading out on my landscape shoot early in the morning.
I really like the attention to the sound in the video, it`s amazing !
Thanks for sharing your journeys. I realize I need to slow down out there. I often feel I need to capture as many shots & angles I can... also great editing and narration through out your videos, I've been really enjoying your videos.
Awesome video and compositions! really like how you show the whole experience!
I love your work and inspiration! Beautiful shot, Thomas!
That's very kind, thank you.
Awesome as always! I've been binge watching all your episodes as study breaks during this exam season!!
great job! i love how your videos have gone from just a handy cam bouncing about camera in the beginning to epic 360 as you walk drone shots lol!!! keep at this man love your stuff and your positive to inspire people to get out there!
Editing was top-notch in this video, Thomas. Keep up the good work!
Thanks a lot.
Excellent looking location Tom you did it justice. Look forward to your next instalment. I'm just back from another white(ish) sandy beach in Scotland called Mellon Udrigle. Fantastic views if not a few too many people on a bank holiday!
I live in Lewis it's close to Harris lot's off great places for taking pictures. hope you enjoyed your time
thank you for making my day . Another amazing vid. And don't forget to stay hydrated my friend!
You really captured the emotion you were feeling during this shoot. One of your best videos!
Your best yet, Tom. Looks like a beautiful place. Now on my 'To Vist' list
I seriously look forward to Wednesdays because of you! I get to sit back and watch an inspiring video from you. Thanks for the awesome content Heaton 👍
Yip as always gets me looking for new compositions..great work Tom
Thanks.
Thomas, great video. It reminds me why i want to visit Harris and Lewis for the third time.
Brilliant, beautiful awe inspiring vlog. Many thanks once again Tom, the final image is a stunner mate!🍀👌
Brilliant VideoThomas. That B&W image is a beautiful image.
Thomas, I love your work and videos on RUclips. Please try and make more videos around compositions. Thank you!
Again, just another fantastic video from Mr Heaton, thank you sir!!
I'm always inspired after watching your videos.....10/10 times. Thank you so much for making these!!!!
Amazing talent you've got mate, both photography and film making.
Great episode as usual Thomas! That first image made the place look almost tropical - almost. :-)
...almost.
Obviously the weather is anything but tropical. But some parts of the outer Scottish Islands have blue water, sandy beaches and even the odd palm tree!
Making landscape photography respectful..! Viewers see the finished product and probably have no idea the effort, enthusiasm and patience the creator has gathered to form such beauty. Loving your work H bomb!
Good to see we all go through the same issues getting the shot. Nice work! Cheers, Ben
Love your channel mate, a lot of the other channels are more focused on gear or street/portrait photography, much prefer your style, getting out there and making images, its much more in line with how i go about photography and why i got into it in the first place.
Breathtaking photography… and not bad videography too… Keep on keeping on. Excellent work as usual
great video I think that with that location there is so much going on the hard part would be focusing on a particular composition getting sidetracked be like a kid in a sweetshop thanks again thomas great work
Lovely video, as always. It's such a pain to try and compose with a headache, but your image was worth it (in my opinion). Great work!
Your editing is really top-notch these days - not even mentioning the photography! If inspiration was the theme for this video, you really nailed it; there was something incredibly epic and soulful about this video. Great work!
Thanks for your kind comment, I really enjoy the editing process and setting the mood and tone of the video.
Another great video Thomas, I love that B&W sand dunes shot!
Truly inspirational mate! Thank you for what you do...
Thank you for another inspiring video. Goin' out this weekend to explore and shoot. You're an inspiration, Thomas. :)
Ohhhh Lewis and Harris! I was on that same beach just last summer. I had the chance to tour Scotland for 8 days with amazing sunny weather and I was shocked when I saw this beach. Truly amazing. Unfortunately, our tour guide let us stay there for only 45 minutes and my long exposure looked a bit weird but I'm gonna come back one day...
Inspiring video Thomas. The last image was worth the wait.
I simple love your videos, and as only a hobby photographist i am learning alot from you. Just thank you for making this greats videos:)
Brilliant Thomas, wish I could go to the places you go to you are incredible
Amazing Location great images hope to see more of Harris !
