In March 2023 when suffering the most appallingly severe headaches I was hospitalised and diagnosed with cvst. There were 4 clots, each in a different sinus. Subsequent testing shows these throboses were unprovoked - that is they can't find a cause for them and it seems that they 'just happened'. It's hard for a layman to understand why 4 clots ocurred at the same time, in 4 locations and I'm left wondering if has anything to do with the 2 Astra Zeneca covid vaccinations I had previously received.

    Why CVST cause coma?

Probably due to increased intracranial pressure, which can result in herniation syndromes and affect the brainstem which controls your state of alertness as well as other vital functions.

Hello, I was informed I possibly had venous sinus thrombosis from a MRV scan. I was scanned again with CTA it was negative. I just want to be sure it’s negative. I see that you have a lot of experience with the scans. If all possible could you view my two scans you can also use them for studies and teaching purposes.

A radiologist is better than neurodoctor at looking at pictures

A Neurologist can also apply his or her clinical experience to decide alongside the scans. My understanding is that CTA has a lower false positive rate than MRV, even if MRV is has a slightly lower false negative rate. Sometimes the standard MRI can give hints that the MRV is a false positive too. How did you get on? 4 months later should have been long enough for it to have become clear if you had CVST or not.

    Couldn't you just do a D-Dimer test?

It's not sensitive when dealing with thrombosis in the brain.
