That bridge where it steps away from the original key is hard to navigate for most ADULTS. Not an easy passage, and she does it like it is rudimentary. Angelina is always going to be a fascination for me until I don't exist.
Etta James did the most well-known cover, which Angelina is cuing on here. This music was forged in the fire of adversity, courage, and hope. It's no wonder it's powerful. Angelina is revealing all the hidden emotion in it. Who knows how she does it? Loved your reaction, Ray!

This girl was born with music inside of her. I have never heard a 7 year old doing something like this. When I was 7, I didn't know much about anything. But this girl is different. A prodigy.

She can make her voice do ANYTHING she wants it to WHEN she wants. Conveying such emotion and grabbing your soul. I am 67 years old and have never experienced the feelings i get from any other singer. I am so happy that I know I will be enjoying her magic until the day I die.
there is another one of these videos where she is rehearsing her final performance, "SUMMERTIME". you HAVE TO WATCH IT. they are trying to figure out the music and she makes the sound she wants to hear from the horn with her mouth. its so cool to watch. you have to watch it !!!!!
I agree. It is so funny when she eyes the mute and her cheeks puff out as if she was playing the trumpet. And she knew exactly how that phrase should end.

the rhythmic essense, the harmonic understanding and the practice needed to slide into those slightly flat blue notes to evoke goosebumps in people. Kids twice her age doing that are considered very talented.

AJ's been able to absorb, comprehend and re-create songs perfectly from a VERY young age. I'm compelled to paste in this snippet of info that I got grom a friend of the family and has been keeping since:

"I have known Angelina since she was two years old. Yes, Norwegian (Bokmal) is her native language but so essentially is English. She has spoken both literally from the time she could speak. There was no learning curve for her in speaking English. She learned English and her native Norwegian at the same time. This is why she has no dialect when speaking English. When she was a tiny girl everyone spoke both languages with her. When I was visiting even when she was four and five years old we would talk together in English and Norwegian. People assume she had to learn English later on. This is not true. So, when she was tiny singing in English she knew what she was singing in any song. I will also tell you something most of you fans probably do not know. I have sat with her listening to jazz vocalists such as Billie Holiday and Dinah Washington when she was very young (4, 5, and 6 years of age) and we would listen to a song together three or four times and after that she knew the song completely having memorized all the lyrics, all the tune after just those few times we listened to it. Then she would sing the song back to me word for word, note for note, perfectly.
Another thing is that voice she has now at 15 was already there when she was very young. Of course over the years she has matured, is still maturing, vocally but the range, vibrato, the Jazz inflections, everything was already there just waiting for time and good vocal coaching to bring it out as she grew. Further you must know she is the most kind hearted, loving, and empathetic human being I have ever known. Her family protect her to the utmost. She goes nowhere without they are with her. She enters no room without one of them along watching out for her. She will not be one of those young people who are ruined by the bad elements in the music industry. I know there is no ceiling to her talent. She will go down in the history of music as one of the finest singers who ever lived. I consider myself so lucky and blessed to know her. There is not a sweeter, dearer soul in this world. Lastly I will tell you that i remember sitting in a living room as she sang one jazz song or another when she was about six years old and even then her voice could go from the most breathy, delicate whisper to perfectly controlled volume so that the windows behind the sofa I was sitting on vibrated in their frames.
Thank you for being a fan. She truly loves her fan base. There is so much more she will show you in the years to come. Plans are already underway to launch her career to the highest heights while her family sees to it that she lives as normal a life as possible along the way. I don’t get to see her as much as I used to but we talk regularly as she checks up on me to see how I am doing and to let me know what’s coming up next. She was already 8 here -- unfortunately a lot of the earlier videos on her grandma's channel are off by a year.
